you should have "stuck with it" like i said to everyone else..
those that gave up because they could't make any coins in the first few hours - is tough -
there are no problems i can see now, except high disk activity on windows.. this unfortunately cannot be avoided atm.. you just need to be patient for the chain to download..
when it was screwed up at the start.. no one had mined any coins on the map
Uhhh, I have "stuck with it" as you said, because I truly like the concept.
If the coin is working fine for you on a linux machine with an SSD, that's fine. But I can't imagine i'm alone here with my issues. As i've stated before, i've been trying on 3 different machines just to get it running stable. These are not crap PCs, they are very good and i've not had an issues like this. If I didn't want to help, I wouldn't be posting results.
But your answers remind me of working with application developers, when someone says there's an issue, they just reply "well, it works for me".
I have redownloaded, resynched each time you've posted a solution i've done it. The issues still remain, if you don't think they are legit, fine, good luck, but i'll keep trying and posting.
Running again, the log file is just getting more huge. +10MB after running for a very brief amount of time (maybe an hour). Looking through the debug log, I think there's way too much stuff (unimportant) being logged, i.e. the IRC stuff, etc.
The latest issue this morning (in addition to what I previously posted), is now no miners even find the server. No idea what causes something like that. I'm doing another resynch though. It was working a couple hours ago, nothing on my machine (settings, etc.) changed, now miners don't see it.
Part of the success is ease-of-use and market adoption. If Windows users are having these issues i would think it's a big part of your potential user base.
I'm not some raging dude (if i come across like that, sorry) and i'm not whining about losing coins because i'm just continuing mining while trying to get this thing to run.
But with the CPU/Drive/Log issue, it's just going to get worse for new users if it continues along this path. Wallet sync's alone will probably freak people out as well as the CPU/Drive issues as far as scaring them as to something malicious going on.
