OK, I just went ahead and set the default/minimum work difficulty to 128.
This only really changes anything for miners < ~64Gh... and it just increases variance a little for them, doesn't decrease/increase payouts. For anyone over 64Gh, no real difference except easier miner starts.

ty for this...when bringing 700gh/s online at diff 16 wasn't working to well...i bet the servers will be happier too Concerning backup pools:
I have 8 S1s: First 4: Eligius (pool 1); BTC (pool 2); Slush (pool 3) Second 4: Slush (pool 1); Eligius (pool 2); BTC (pool 3)
Don't like using Slush for backup because you really get dinged because of pool-hopping perception.
Results for Eligius and Slush when both are working well about even. Sometimes one will have much better luck than the other but I noticed in the long run they put out about the same (even with the Slush fee).
But tried running BTC Guild as primary for 3 weeks and it just didn't seem to pay as much as Eligius and Slush. Possible BTC just had a bad 3 weeks but I was wondering if anybody else was seeing the same at BTC?
I've tried guild for 2weeks also at a time and i feel like i get a more constant rate with eligius...less ups n downs and the 2% fee sucks as well...wish i was running a pool with 2% fees hehe i'd be rich

On a different topic, luck wise.. Eligius is smoking hot right now. More than compensates for that 14 hour block we had not that long ago. 10 blocks: 161% 12 hours: 112% 24 hours: 152% 7 days: 115% 30 days: 101% 90 days: 95% M EDIT: Was behind by an hour or so.. numbers now are: 147% 107% 145% 114% 101% 95% Still hot! probably why I am getting so inconsistent results now. Hopefully I can add some hashing power soon and bring my total well over the 64gh level. It would be now if both of my R-boxes would have worked but one seems to be DOA.

Any way to get these kind of numbers by myself and not calculating from the Blocks page?

I have made some test and the results are weird ... The miner is ~650GHs load balanced between Slush and Eligius: When port 12234 is used the full hashrate is reached in ~1min and is properly balanced 50/50 When port 3334 is used, it reaches ~220GHs again 50/50 Even if i start with just Slush and reach 600+ there, then enable Eligius 3334 it drops to ~220GHs The weird thing is that on both 3334 and 12234 the start diff is 128, so there should be some other difference between them and the problem is not with the start diff, which for Slush is 3, but still reaches the max miner speed in ~1 min

It's not a KNC hardware, but self made bitfury string miner using my own fork, based on Legkodymov's code ... I know it's old, but is the only one that works with my hardware Unfortunately, providing support for old cgminer forks is not something I can spare time for I'd recommend upgrading your code to the latest (or stable) version of BFGMiner. If you want to try to debug this issue, the different lies in the size of the generation transaction: the "KnC port" (and almost every other pool out there, including BTCGuild) used tiny (<200 byte) generation transactions, whereas Eligius needs multi-kB generation transactions. Using the "KnC port" hurt the payout queue, since it only paid the cold wallet instead of miners.

I am working on a new driver using a more recent code base, but still have some problems with more than 4 slots (~300Ghs), which i can't find why and debugging 100+ chips is difficult Thank you for pointing me the difference, i'll see if I can fix that old fork.
P.S. If you are interested in the new driver PM me

what is better on eligius pool with knc hardware november batch:
Cgminer? If yes why?
BFGminer? If yes why?
On my super jupiters drops the hashrate 30% when using bfgminer. Why, I don´t know.
Thx for help.
How can I see, how much Namecoins are on my account.

how long are you waiting before you figure your losing 30% hashrate? bfgminer does take awhile to get upto speed...i've had varied different success with bfgminer...sometimes it would be slower then cgminer or sometimes it would be faster...idk but i think the poolside hashrate stays the same so thats all i care about

Hey I just switched over to mining at Eligius and I just wanted some clarification on the CPPSRB payout system. So if I understand it right I'm getting just a flat PPS rate as long as the blocks have >=100% luck. If it's less than 100%, some of my shares will be unpaid (and "shelved") until the pool solves a lucky block and has excess BTC to backpay me. Am I right so far?
One thing I was wondering though is what happens if the pool gets exceptionally lucky, pays off everyone's shelved shares, and still has excess BTC. Does the pool keep the extra or is it returned to the miners?
Also, over the long term what percent of my shares will go unpaid? I read the analysis of rewards systems on the sticky and, although it didn't mention CPPRSB specifically, it said many of the MPPS variants will over the long term approach a point where the backlog of shelved shares gets so great that many will remain unpaid indefinitely.

Yes, you have the right idea. See the link in my sig for a bit more detail. I am not sure about what would happen if there were a run of impossible luck that brought the shelved shares down to 0. I believe that the pool would bank it for future needs when luck is not so great. I believe that the backlog of shelved shares is quite large by now. I stopped mining in March (sold all my hardware), and my paid out percentage has not changed since then, i.e., none of my shelved shares have been paid out in the interim. Over the long term, I would estimate that you can expect 96%-97% of your shares to get paid. This is about what I averaged, although I saw as low as 91% and as high as 98%. It will always be something less than 100% due to orphan blocks. And I believe that Eligius went through somewhat of a dry spell over the past couple of months, so some people are probably looking at more like 95% right now.

If it's less than 100%, some of my shares will be unpaid (and "shelved") until the pool solves a lucky block and has excess BTC to backpay me. Am I right so far? Until and IF. But yes. One thing I was wondering though is what happens if the pool gets exceptionally lucky, pays off everyone's shelved shares, and still has excess BTC. Does the pool keep the extra or is it returned to the miners? It goes toward future blocks. But it won't happen. On Eligius, note underneath the shelved shares are the old SMPPS system's shares, which get paid proportionally before the pool is completely paid off (this alone is so unlikely that IIRC wizkid057 has never actually implemented the code to handle it). Due to the limitations of the speed of light, all pools regardless of reward system have some overhead. I think it tends toward 2% in the long run, recently. With CPPSRB, this manifests in shelved shares unpaid forever; but the same losses occur no matter what reward system is in use.
