I have a question for Wizkid. I have my donation levels set so that the total should be right at 1% split between the three accounts however when I look at my stats page it seems that only .1% total is being contributed.

I think there may be a glitch in the code for the donation calculations.

Wow that last diff rise sure did slow things down. The entire bitcoin network hasn't discovered a block in over an hour...

That happens about 2-3 times a month.
An hour without a block isn't uncommon, but twice in four hours probably doesn't happen too often.

I have to say, I'm pretty happy about the apparent slowdown. I hope that it's more that the previous difficulty adjustment had a large period of good luck for the network, as opposed to the 25% just being an actual network increase and this is a period of bad luck.

And three gaps of at least an hour within a span of six hours is even less likely.

I decided to leave this pool. I am really very worry about the "random" payout of this pool. It's slightly different than other pools.

you'll get your payout...but now it'll take you longer cause you stopped mining...the payout system isn't meant to be quick payout like everyone seems to like...i'd take security over quick payouts anyday...least i know some hacker can find a way to take my payout Smiley boy guild or ghash would be screwed if hackers broke into those wallets n drained them lol

Dreams of cyprto solving everything is slowly slipping away...Replaced by scams/hacks Sad

We haven't found a block in over 6 hours, you won't get paid until we do and you may get bounced out until the next block. This pool pays when it finds blocks not just when you hit some arbitrary threshold.

Eligius is 0% fees but you have to deal with variance (or luck for the heathens).

Looks normal to me as well.

The way the auto payout algorithm works is a bit funky and has a feel to it that it is dated compared to what other pools offer.

One thing to consider though, is the priority in the payout queue affected if a miner has ceased mining on an address? I am not sure on that one.

Payout queue position is based solely on the age of the balance.  Basically, the longer it has been since your last payout, the higher up in the payout queue you will be.

Examples:

Someone who hasn't been paid in a while, but takes a long time to make the minimum payout, will likely end up pretty high in the payout queue when they enter it.

Someone who stops mining and is under the minimum payout will enter the payout queue in ~7 days, with a balance at least that old. They will enter into the queue before anyone with a balance younger than ~7 days when they do finally enter the queue.

Someone who enters the queue quickly (fast miner with a minimum payout that is pretty low or default) will enter the queue at the lowest priority, since their last payment was recent.

While this particular rule of thumb doesn't always hold true, if you have a balance above the minimum payout, and if you look at the age of the balance of the first person in the second block of the payout queue, you generally wait at least this long for a payout.

Of course a manual payout flushes the payout queue down to one block, and cuts payout wait times.  (Probably do one of those tomorrow)

I've mined mainly on Eligius from the beginning of my mining adventure I can say that I have never once had cause to question the integrity or the security of my payouts. I am a small fish and the pond is getting bigger and deeper by the minute but I KNOW I will be paid when I reach my threshold. (and we solve a block) I like the fact I don't have to worry about someone disappearing with the loot and the fact that there are no mandatory fees charged.... although I have set up a voluntary 1% donation anyway.

If you want to leave the best pool around then go for it... but there really is nothing random about the payout structure here. You get paid in a very specific order based upon blocks being solved of course, but you do get paid for the shares you submit that are accepted. If you are impatient and greedy and set your threshold low you may have to wait a bit for some who have not been paid as recently as you to get paid their due share first. If you set your threshold to an appropriate level to match your hashing power so that you hit it at about a 3 day period you wont have to wait much or often.

Just my 2 cents worth but personally I am glad that the payouts focus on those who have gone longer without first... otherwise I might never get paid for my paltry efforts if the big fish got first dibs all the time.

Wow, these longer rounds are making the payout queue long, we're at slightly longer than 4 blocks to get out of 5 days since last payment.

Hey I screwed up. Somehow my settings were changed/lost on my QT wallet and not realizing it it I sent 1.05 BTC and didn't include the transaction fee. Now it's just hanging with 0 confirmations for an hour and a half.

Will it get included in a block at some point? This was a mistake I always include the tx fee.

Wizkid057 I'm willing to pay a fee if you will include it in one of our blocks...

It got included in one, has 3 confirmations now. I won't make that mistake again.

I'm always curious about how other people view things.

What is different between what you expect and how the pool actually works?
What kind of behavior do you want to see that you do not see?
Do you think it operates differently than it says it will?

I try to be respectful and informed.

Uninformed noobs. They join a pool and don't even read the FAQ.

i did's said anything wrong about this pool. I have 60 server, 30 were running on eligius the other 30 on another pool. I compared and i decided to leave eligius. Something wrong with that? Actually i compared many pools, eligius is the only pool with this payout policy, and yes it was my mistake i did not read the FAQ's

30 servers pointing to a pool of which you don't know the payout system. You must be swimming in BTC.

well, there is nothing wrong with eligius pool. I was attracted because of the 0% fee, and i also checked the contributors in eligius pool, there are people with far more servers than me Smiley but as i said, it's trustable all is fine, just i don't agree to that payout policy and i left. this is all, case closed.

There is no problem in not agreeing with the payout policy. The problem is that you didn't know from the start and that you compared 2 pools payouts, but didn't take into consideration the "luck" factor. And you don't have servers, you have miners. Happy mining!

The payout policy is the fairest it could be.  the oldest to the newest.  Who in the world could be unhappy about that.  It is well explained and documented.

I like being paid for shares accepted.

Wizkid your doing a great job keep it up.

Yeah, every now and then I decide to try and different pool and I always find myself coming back to Eligius (or BTC Guild truth be told).  In the end though I definitely prefer Eligius, I like getting paid from a generation transaction, but don't like the variance on P2Pool, and no fees are a great bonus too.  Not to mention the pure amount of work Wizkid puts in without asking for a fee is amazing.  Thank you wizkid for running a great pool, and all of the hard work you do to keep it running.
