I am mining it, but I still don't see how to make it "above and beyond" as said in OP.
Branding, marketing, pushing the message out.
We need a balance of the technical (for miners and devs) and the informative (for the casual investor))
It's good to mine but we should also develop ways to spread Karma around so people can use it more.
But you do that mainly through the twitters, facebooks etc right?
We clarify the meaning and message of Karma. We make sure that the logo is polish and *tested* with members of the general public. (Do they like it?) We then put together an identity kit for members of the press.
We make the website for both the general public and miners. Miners know where to find our info, the general public does not.
We make a way for the general public and press to be able to contact us, or open a help desk ticket if they have questions or concerns. We need to make them confident in the future of our coin. A professional-looking site aimed at the general public will do a world of good... design must be "feel good"
Going along with the concept of the coin, we should be generous, helpful, and useful. (Not just fun, like Dogecoin)
We write a press release (I can do this) and publish it in California (it's cheaper, but still picked up nationally). We behave like a normal company but without all of the overhead. The goal is to promote usage of the coin, which will of course raise the value.
We do 1 simple video on Karmacoin (this could be made in a few hours.. simply someone talking about it for a minute or so) then make more as we go along.
We work on partnerships. Stores that will accept Karmacoin in the future. Then we put this on our website. (It need only be planned, not a current implementation. We simply ask them, "Will you accept Karmacoin if we made it easy for you?" or something like that. This will give us credibility and make it easier for other stores and services to open up to us.)
Karmacoin can be the more polished version of Dogecoin that people take more seriously as far as commerce and sharing goes.
How about a widgets for Disquss, Facebook, vBulletin and other forum software, Magento, etc., to drive adoption of Karmacoin? We just start with one (probably Facebook).. Branding is easy because of the name. People understand it immediately. "Give +1 Karma to janeyun" next to every fb post. Clicking on it opens a box where other people can learn how to use it.
People should be able to have a negative balance in their Karmacoin widget.
This means people can give Karma without having coins. Why is this important? It removes friction in the marketplace. The other person can see that I intended to give you Karma and it has the same effect because it still shows up on your feed. If you have the widget then it just just shows that it is "unfunded". I can choose to fund it, whereby you will receive real Karmacoins that you can use.
We have the benefit of learning from Bitcoin and Dogecoin and improving upon their execution and concept.
Bitcoin is the grandfather and is taken seriously by investment companies, VCs, and businesses. Dogecoin is good for the masses because it has emotional appeal and simplifies a complicated matter (cryptocurrency) and removes the veil of mystery to make it fun. Karmacoin can have
both emotional appeal and be taken seriously.
These are just some ideas. But i think the most important thing we can do is have 1 place to organize ourselves online and manage our activities. (Like a project management system or tasklist) This is something Dogecoin does not do (but should) because, as much as I like the community, they are disorganized.
Just some ideas.. I have a lot more, but it's a start.
