I'm sure this is a beaten-to-death question, but I've had coins since 2-26 or 2-28 and I have yet to see any minting or attempts at minting.  When does this start to happen and will it fill my wallet with "bad minting" attempts like Zeitcoin and leave "gray entries" as well?

You need the newest version of the wallet, or else you won't mint.

Someone else mentioned this bug last week, and I've been chasing it since.
I might have found a bug
(I am trying to find out why seemingly only one small part of my coins are used for minting. That's when I found this.)
When I go into the console, and type
listaccounts  or
getbalance "accountname"
then the balances I get are not the balances
but some other number.
Yippieh, so I did find a bug. Is there a bug finding bounty?
If you want to support me & my work: Mfxyu7TRCDxco5sGn8EV1hNqF2A7Ut9oo4

Completed fixing it today, submitted a patch to devs just a couple of hours ago. Probably it'll be included in the next release.
edit: I thought I should give more information. Balance displayed on UI was correct. Balance displayed when calling "getbalance" by itself was correct. The commands "getbalance *", "getbalance ""   ", "getbalance accountname", "listaccounts" had some problems, their outputs were inconsistent with each other and UI's shown balance. The inconsistencies occured only on minted transactions
Alright. Well done fixing this.
Thank you very much, in the name of the whole community.

Is this a Mintcoin specific bug - or do you want to tell all the other PoS coins, too?

Enjoy your day!

You mint every 20 days. So you have 13 more to go.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but I don't believe that's accurate unless he received all of his coins in one block.

Suppose you were mining mint, and received 50k mint per day, in single lump sum payouts (1 payout per day) from a mining pool, from March 1st - March 3rd.

3/21 - the 50k coins you mined on 3/1 should now begin attempting to mint. Assuming they do mint today, in 20 days they will attempt to mint again.
3/22 - the 50k coins you mined on 3/2 should now begin attempting to mint. Assuming they do mint today, in 20 days they will attempt to mint again.
3/23 - the 50k coins you mined on 3/3 should now begin attempting to mint. Assuming they do mint today, in 20 days they will attempt to mint again.

Furthermore, depending on whether or not the minted coins become a part of the same block as the "chunk" of coins that they were minted from, you may end up with either 3 or 6 groups of coin ages in this example scenario, each of which would now be attempting to mint on different days.

Please anyone do correct me if I am wrong, but this is how hobonickels POS works and I believe Mint does it the same way.

Multipool launched!!

I'm happy to announce, that http://hashco.ws has now launched its 'Get Paid in MintCoin' option to the pool. Sign Up, and head on over to 'Account Settings' where you'll see the option of changing from the standard BTC payout option to MINT.
Our pool also has the unique option of being able to keep other altcoins we mine as well, should you so choose. We welcome all the members of the mint community who wish to give us a shot. Please feel free to join us on irc. Freenode / #hashcows Its in a bit of a beta these first few days, as we work out any kinks with the mint payouts specifically, however the pool itself has been operational for more than 6 months now. MINT payouts will happen between 03:30 - 04:00 GMT daily.
For the time being, there is no additional fee for being paid out in MINT vs. BTC
Happy Mining

Well using your example it would also depend on when he opened his wallet, if he opened on 3/24, all coins would stake and be paid around the same time.

People should also do the math to find out if they are up to date on minting. Example using 100,000:

20% of 100,000 is 20,000 (to be paid annually)

You are paid out every 20 days 365/20=18.25

20,000/18.25=1,095

1,095 is around the number you should receive every 20 days. Leave your wallet open 24 hrs at least.

I have the latest (Mac) wallet -- the one with the nice, new logo.  Nothing has minted so far.  Mind you, I don't have a lot of Mintcoin by any stretch, but I would expect to see *something* by name, even small decimal amounts.  Again, I've had some coins since 2-26 or 2-28.

Zeitcoin - Mm3rSgi34U5RMnrdusjWeK8UuWNmJu1ogq | Bitcoin - 16bpb3FBFbSvfsvXKabf7C4Zwwgwpkc4vn | Litecoin - LKJhuU68SdMPnRC1EAFimS7KNs4dXs3yrf | Dogecoin - DDeez8PhqRJkGVsu1pTF9SZEWXz3ySke56

Minting is like mining. In mining the bigger the rig, the quicker you find the block. In minting, there are 2 factors.

1. Size of your holding

2. Coin age

If you have a smaller holding, I recommend waiting a few days longer than 20. This will increase you coin age and you will be paid out more quickly when you open your wallet for Minting. You will still receive 20% annually.

I've pasted a link from from Beaverslayer below might help you understand.

Here's a link to a PDF I made that helps explain the minting process of Mintcoin.

Why in the world would anyone still be buying blackcoin? Doesn't anyone wonder where those 20 million coins are? that's nearly a 3rd of the entire circulation!

Can we start the Mint pump already? Good grief people, wake up!

I'm well aware cyrptorush is at fault here, still this is bad news for bc. Thanks for bringing this to the attention of mint community, now they know to withdraw mint from cryptorush.

For best results, it is best to keep the wallet open and minting at all times. For one thing, the sooner you mint the sooner you earn compound interest.
