Will Altcoin be as important as Bitcoin?

I don't think it's possible at the moment, because the United States and many other countries only recognize bitcoin.
Other tokens have not been recognized. On the contrary, most altcoin is just hype.

I think personally because these two coins are equally needed and so now many people are holding altcoins and waiting for the price to rise because bitcoin and altcoin prices have decreased and with that decline, many people are investing in Bitcoin with the short term because soon price Bitcoin will come back

Bitcoin is still the number one cryptocurrency, you can ask people if they know about cryptocurrencies and they might tell you no but ask them if they know about bitcoin then they will tell you yes. Bitcoin is still the coin that is keeping the crypto market going for now, that makes it the most important coin in the market. Maybe in the future altcoins might become more important but for now, bitcoin still remains more important than altcoins.

Not in my opinion, frankly I hope all altcoins will crash and everyone will turn to bitcoin where all started.
Do we really need couple thousand altcoins? I don't see it as competition, rather pump and dump schemes in order for someone to earn more bitcoins.

In my opinion Bitcoin is the source and the rest is a very interesting evolution, I think technological developments in altcoins will lead to the future of digital fiat money that will be something like centralized digital currencies but will also lead to better decentralized cryptocurrencies. I also think it's too early to predict which altcoins will survive the test of time, so far Bitcoin seems to be the only one to be truly capable of that but there will be more of course and more than probably altcoins currently existing.

So yes, they are as important, it's from the same family as BTC, it's expanding the technology.

Although the monetary value of Altcoins, currently and for the most part, rely on the value of Bitcoin, they are not necessarily mutually exclusive. Once more fiat to altcoin pairings start to get introduced, I think you'll see that reliance and correlation dwindle somewhat. And the reality is, while Bitcoin serves as a great store of value and is more widely accepted as a form of currency, so many altcoins are not even attemtping to compete in that space. If anything, Bitcoin can only be truly appreciated when it's in the midst of all these altcoins because, the truth is, we always need a point of comparison to recognize something's worth and value. Nothing operates in a vacuum, and this holds true in crypto as it does with anything else.
