Hi guys, I hope you can help me out here,

I posted here earlier already but I get this error:

error -4 enqueueing kernel onto command

i have 4 R9 280x and 4gb is that the problem?
in short i believe yes for more than 2 cards mining u need 8 gb ram minimum

I find that a good rule of thumb is 4gb per card, I have rigs with 4 x 290 and they were fail at 8gb so I installed 16 gb and it worked just fine. If I were to make a guess I would imagine you need to match your combined GPU memory in available system memory.

More system ram does nothing for mining. I've seen 6gpu rigs running 2GB (linux). 4GB is all you need for Win.

but issnt this n-scrypt something different that you need more ram? Since I can run 4 cards for normal scrypts but on this n-scrypt I get the error about the kernel and disabling gpu

It is deffinetly different. I could not get 3 290 running with any settings. However when i put in another 4gb of ram ( 8 total for 3 cards ) its running perfect.

I keep hearing about ram and stuff. Is 4gb of ram good enough for 4-280x's? or do I need to run out to bestbuy and pick up some more?

I can't say for sure that it will fix your problem, but I'm going to be installing 12GB of ram in one of my rigs in about 45 mins.  I have 4x6970s with 4GB of ram and I get the same kernel error.  On another rig with 8GB of ram and only 2x6970's, no problems.

Before attempting anything you need to get a custom miner for Scrypt-N.

=> http://vertcoin.org/#mining

It works the same way as classic miners, input your info in the conf file or directly in the bat file.
CAUTION: the Vertminer on this page comes with a default .conf file, delete it if you put all your settings in the .bat file!

The settings are different than on classic Scrypt for most cards and you need 8GB of system RAM for best results if you have multiple cards. Here are some .bat settings that work for me:

280X at about 370KH/s (8GB System RAM):
Quote
color 0A
setx GPU_USE_SYNC_OBJECTS 1
setx GPU_MAX_ALLOC_PERCENT 200
vertminer.exe -o stratum+tcp://yourpool.com:port -u nick.worker -p pass -I 13 -g 2 -w 256 --thread-concurrency 8193 --gpu-memclock 1500 --gpu-engine 1050 --gpu-fan 50-90

HD7950 at about 315KH/s (12GB System RAM):
Quote
color 0A
setx GPU_MAX_ALLOC_PERCENT 200
setx GPU_USE_SYNC_OBJECTS 1
vertminer.exe -o stratum+tcp://yourpool.com:port -u nick.worker -p pass -I 19 -w 256 --thread-concurrency 19712 -g 1 --gpu-fan 60-90 --gpu-powertune 10 --gpu-memclock 1485 --gpu-engine 1080

If you think this was useful to you consider mining for me while you test your optimal settings Smiley
Quote
vertminer.exe -o stratum+tcp://stratum.vtcpool.co.uk:3333 -u b0ss.kindminer -p kindminer

Again; if you're running a lot of cards you do need at least 8GB of RAM! You could run Vertminer with less RAM but you won't get high hash rate, some cards won't even start mining and above settings won't work!

Does anyone know if I can just copy/paste my settings from SGminer config straight into the vertminer config ? Or will I have to do some tweaking ?

Kinda wish I'd just voted for scrypt now Sad

I am blunt, don't like it ? Too bad
