There are several different types of Bitcoin clients. The most secure are full nodes like Bitcoin Core, but full nodes are more resource-heavy, and they must do a lengthy initial syncing process. As a result, lightweight clients with somewhat less security are commonly used.

Does anyone know if I can just copy/paste my settings from SGminer config straight into the vertminer config ? Or will I have to do some tweaking ?

Kinda wish I'd just voted for scrypt now Sad

With my r9 290's I used most of the same settings for vertminer.  Here is a copy of my vertminer.conf.  You MUST also run

export GPU_USE_SYNC_OBJECTS=1
export GPU_MAX_ALLOC_PERCENT=100

before you run vertminer
Code:
"api-listen" : true,
"intensity" : "21",
"worksize" : "256",
"auto-fan" : true,
"temp-cutoff" : "99",
"temp-overheat" : "95",
"temp-target" : "88",
"expiry" : "30",
"nscrypt" : true,
"scan-time" : "1",
"thread-concurrency" : "20481",
"gpu-thread" : "1",
"gpu-engine" : "947",
"sharethreads" : "32",
"lookup-gap" : "2",
"gpu-powertune" : "20",
"gpu-memclock" : "1250"

If I added any other lines other than pool information (single pool only it crashes if I have more than one)  it did not boot.  Also on my system if I start vertminer with any overclock in the conf file it crashes, I have to over clock manually after it starts.

So I've basically got to change all settings to stock and then change them while inside vertminer ?

Why are these miners so glitchy with 290's ? CGminer & SGminer both crash system on exit, vertminer crash with overclock wtf is wrong with compatability ??

I was hoping I could C/P this

Can't wait! Prepping my rig now!

Also I see a lot on confusion going on about script-n, I think it would be worth it to read up on in a little bit if you're not sure about it. Plenty of good reading material around.

nope that will crash it.  Take a look at the vertminer github.  The readme will tell you which is the GPU conf settings are retained. Things like hysterisis and no-submit stale are no longer there and will crash it (at least on my system). Also, about the overclocking, I am not sure if that is specific to my system or the r9 290's but even on cgminer/kalroth/sgminer I need to overclock manually.

Keep your conf as simple as you can (most of the setting we use for cgminer or ignored anyway scantime, enquiry, etc..) and it will work.  I get about 450-470 from each of my 290's

Thanks for the info SGminer works fine with overclock but always crashes my system when I exit, so I'll give overclock a try first as I hate messing about with settings in the dos style UI of miners.

My 290 gets 900kh/s on scrypt so I'm hoping 450/460 on scrypt-n with same clocks unless vertminer is totally different and I need to tweak yet again for days to get perfect kh/s settings

Here's a screenshot I just took of my 2x Asus 280x TOP cards (same as your 7950's), undervolted and underclocked. This is their 24x7 rate (however they're in my main PC so not quite as well cooled), not just a momentary snapshot as you can see. I spent a LOT of  time tweaking the max out of these. I also run a modified SCRIPT.cl & modified .bat files for increased performance.

These cards are pretty good, but they don't hold a candle to my 2nd rig that powers 3x Sapphire TRI-OC 290's @ a steady 2700KH/s (890-906KH/s each!) With my other 2 rigs included I run 5MH/s but man some guys running warehouses of 200+MH/s make my systems look like child's play! lol. Can't wait to buy more with the IPO funds I purchased! Smiley

Eganwp

Yeah the 280x's are 7970's, they're not 7950's. Good hashrate for undervolted. Mine run 24/7 too, not sure why you said 'momentary snapshot'.

So with ScryptN dropping your average hashrate by 50%, how will that affect coin output? Will it affect how the coin works, since he based his original numbers on scrypt? some of the early adopters are starting to ask this.

As I warned the dev, some people are just now starting to re-read the thread and finding out, last minute, that the algo has changed.

Short question cause I don't want to read the whole thread.

Was there any information how much (ca.) a GPU will cost?

No going back now..... due to the fact that scrypt-n requires a RAM upgrade on all my rigs I will not be mining. Good thing I got in on the IPO

Because of KGW the number of coins mined each day will not change from original posting.  Scrypt or Scrypt-n does not really affect coin production.  I think what scrypt-n will do though is make it so that the early mined coins are not spread around as much since some people just cannot get vertminer working on their systems.  I like this because those of us that can will get more coins!!  I will be happy if with my IPO and whatever I mine until the store is open I can get at least 1 GPU.
