It makes sense to me. It is a fairly easy to use an accept form of payment, maybe not 100% ideal yet but it will get there fairly soon. I think we all understand there are economic problems and potential for issues, so why take proactive steps.

I try to stay neutral in my opinion of other coins, but this one has always looked sketchy. They have been on the radar of numerous authorities, but somehow still operating. Do they have to collapse with everyone's money, before something is finally done?

OneCoin Ponzi Scheme Adjusts Tactics To Recruit More Members

http://themerkle.com/onecoin-ponzi-scheme-adjusts-tactics-to-recruit-more-members/

Though I haven't spent much time researching their model, I steer far away from any MLM type schemes that rely on tiered recruitment.

They should rename it "MadoffCoin"  Grin

It is a shame that we are still seeing a lot of questionable activities going on in our industry.

Agreed but, lets take that a step or two further shall we? It's a shame we are still seeing a lot of questionable activities going on in the financial industry. I think we are pretty much following the curve in that regard. It takes a long time, longer than crypto has been in existence to shake out the obvious crooks and scams. And, even having done that, the less obvious and smarter schemes will always remain just under the radar. And this is something we have always lived with and, I fear, will always live with. Human nature is sometimes our worst enemy but, it can also be our best friend. Depends on what side your on...

Just discovered this - Cryptopreneurs Radio has been heavily involved in OneCoin since October. They are currently having a OneCoin-hour show because of the scam headlines.

Tough Talk Radio ‏@TTRNetwork  47m47 minutes ago Katy, TX

http://www.blogtalkradio.com/toughtalkradionetwork/2016/03/23/cryptopreneurs-radio-with-tony-gambone-and-linda-ballesteros

That should be interesting. I'll put it on in the background.

All the signs are there staring these people in the face but they refuse to accept the truth.

I hear you, RJF. We all live in a very challenging world with the good, the bad, and the ugly in terms of human behaviors. There are many things we are up against that we wish we can change, but will result in vain even if we try.  The best that we can do is to ensure that DNotes will provide a worthy alternative to those who believe that we will protect their best interest before ours.

Well, we will see how long they last. This crap attracts lots negative attention to the crypto-currency industry, people are drawn to the bad news and then paint the whole industry with that brush. I wouldn't worry too much though, Bernie Madoff fleeced thousands with his scheme. Last time I checked, Wall Street was still there and prospering!

Absolutely!

By the way, about halfway in to the talk show. I can see why it has attracted them, essentially they want to be early adopters without having to learn exchanges and mining and wallets and security, and all the complexity that comes along with being a digital currency early adopter. They also talk about bitcoin and onecoin as if they are the same thing "bitcoin or onecoin or whatever you call it", I think they are a bit confused. In fact, I think if they knew DNotes like most of us here, they would likely be really interested.

The DNotes team does understand the complexity and confusion issue, and we are taking steps to remove most the complexity and confusion, but it will take some time before we can fully execute that plan.

We are doing things the right way at DNotes, and we should all be proud! Smiley

There's a bit of double-talk in their pitch. You pay for a certain level package (or whatever the heck they are calling it), and that allows you to receive a cryptocurrency education. The more you pay, the better the education. Didn't they say in their pitch that Onecoin was so special, because you don't need to know anything about cryptocurrency to make millions? Question #2 - If they are providing a proper cryptocurrency education, won't these people see right through their ruse?

I am curious as to who has jurisdiction over international schemes like this? What a mess that will be to clean up.

I found another article that claims that Onecoin is second only to bitcoin in martketcap, which they claim is $3 billion.

There are a number of people peddling Onecoin ("Onecon!"), one of the most outspoken is a blogger named Ken Labine (Canada). Anyway, he and I have gotten into it. HERE I go off on how he expresses great triumph in Onecon having white-labled (well, at least temporarily, as you will see) a Mastercard:

Ps. This is my FIRST post on bitcointalk, although I've been following for years. Also, I've read nearly all of the Paycoin (XPY) story and comments here, since around December of 2014, when it looked like trouble would start brewing for GAW and Homero. Curiously, Onecon is following VERY SIMILAR footsteps with bombastic claims, which I will outline in my next post. But for now, at least learn about what a great deal their "OnePay Card" is (typing that just felt eerily reminiscent of Garza's cutesy labels for his scam)

-------------------------------------

ME: Now, I am watching this video of yours: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-cUfJdYKRtc
"OneCoin - FIRST CANADIAN USING ONEPAY CARD LIVE" Published on Feb 17, 2016

Ken Labine Quote from video: "First you can see the OnePay card being used ....this is HUGE..."
ME: Actually it's not. Unless you are talking about the fees to use the Pre-Paid card being HUGE; becausae they are. It's not even a credit card, its simply a prepaid card with ridiculous fees and a Onecoin logo. That's it.

And take note of how much you are being raped in fees!!
QUOTE: December 1st, 2015:
● The FEE to load OneCoin Prepaid Card is 5% on the transfered amount, minimum of €25 per transfer
● Maximum amount to transfer per day from OneCoin Cash Account to OnePay: €5000
● The FEE to transfer funds from OneCoin Cash Account to OnePay: €16

ADDITIONAL ONECOIN CARD FEES TO FURTHER BENEFIT RUJA AND HER PONZI:
● New card FEE - 20.00 EUR
● Card replacement FEE - 20.00 EUR
● ATM balance inquiry FEE - 3.00 EUR
● ATM withdrawal FEE - 3%, min 4.50 EUR
● ATM decline FEE - 1.50 EUR
● Manual Cash withdrawal FEE - 7.5%, min 10.00 EUR
● Purchase FEE - 1.50 EUR
● Chargeback FEE - 30.00 EUR
● Check Refund FEE - 20.00 EUR
● Currency conversion FEE -5%
● Inactive card FEE - 2.00 EUR
● Card loading FEE - 5% min 25.00 EUR
● Copy/Retrieval request FEE - 10.00 EUR
● Deactivation or reactivation FEE - 20.00 EUR
● Internet Banking Monthly service FEE - 1.25 EUR

total one time fees: > 168.75 EUR!!!!!

So, since I've been following this ponzi scam since exactly about thesame time that homero's charade fell apart, I've made a list of all of the terrible lies and deception Onecon has been using.

NOTE: Since I did this off the top of my head, I missed a few key points in retrospect, such as the fact that for an alleged cryptocurrency company, THEY DON'T ACCEPT ANY FORM OF CRYPTOCURRENCY!! And their own doesn't even work. Lol! They also claim to have partnered with another "gold backed cryptocurrency" called Aurum Gold Coin (backed by "99.999%" real gold! - seriously folks, you can't make this up). Unfortunately, theses so-called "gold" coins are only nano-plated and worth next to nothing. Anyway, enjoy this list. There are NUMEROUS sources to get the real story on these scam artists! Enjoy:

PLETHERA OF BAD EXAMPLES, *BAD ACTING (& history since inception):

“Better than bitcoin” – yet zero utility, no evidence of the technology behind it, whatsoever. *Like, “We will be the next Google!” – sheer words with no substance, by themselves.

Nigel Allan – first CEO, known ponzi criminal (so infamous Ruja had to get rid of him in Jan. last yr)

Sebastian Greenwood – Unaico, Site Talk, and other ponzi involvement

“Forbes Bulgaria cover and article” – LIE, Paid Advert, only distribution to select OC affiliates

“Financial IT cover and article (quarterly)” – LIE, Paid Advert, only distribution to select OC affiliates

“OneWorld & SEVA Canada Partnership (for Blind Kids)” – I investigated and disproved it, MYSELF. *No affiliation w/ SEVA

“Ruja is buying a number of banks” – totally false

ACTUALLY, how many banks have they gone through in the past 8 months!?!?

“We sell educational material” – plagiarised, out-of-date, available for cheap or free online. *Occam’s Razor would suggest that, 10 to 1, what they are promoting are their ponzi points, not their education material.

AND NO MATERIAL FOR MOST RECENT BIGGEST PACKAGES (*but will take money)

“BLOCKCHAIN” – see definition of blockchain. OC script runs on only a very few computers. *A blockchain is a large distributed network running such algorithmic proof of work, etc.

“MINING” – see definition of mining. It does not mean what you think this means. Onecoin can be created with little more technical savy than running a calculator.

OC “VALUE” – see definition of “market price” (as opposed to closed loop system where “value is dictated”) NOTE: Ruja and offical OC slideshow state, “value is based on mining difficulty” – SMH!

“KYC” – does NOT take 60 days in ANY industry, including banking (it’s a trap).

“KYC(2)” – Ruja said OC can help the unbanked. KYC absolutely destroys this argument.

Multiple Governments warnings stating OC is suspected of being a ponzi, pyramid scheme (Finland, Estonia, Nederlands).

“Closed Source” – totally manipulable, unaccountable, non-secure, non-transparent (but “transparency” lie is pushed by Ruja).

“we have the best developers” – but we won’t even name them or talk about the code.

2.1 Billion coins – but enters the market at $1.05 on day #1 (lol). It took bitcoin 2 yrs to get to 10 cents.

“I CAN’T WITHDRAW FUNDS” – posted all over OC FB pages faster than they can be taken down.

“15 day site ‘maintenance'” – name ONE website in the world that closes for two weeks – especially with the type of money OC is allegedly bringing in.

“Crypto-Queen” – “I have consulted many cryptocurrency companies” – name one? *Also: claims in an interview to have been following bitcoin since 2009/ 2010, but has difficulty talking about cryptocurrency in any meaningful way (she only knows very minimal, obviously)

“Author of book on cryptocurrency (in Chinese)” – IMPOSSIBLE to find any reference to online

“MasterCard suspension” – Holding Bank Zala-Group LTD, Director, Martin Henry Beckett arrested on major drug charges this week.

“Dr. Ruja history” – for such an “accomplished woman,” why is it that little to no evidence is available from 3rd party sources to back up even half of her credentials???

“150,000 to 500,000 merchant vendors claim” – HOW ON EARTH!?!?

“…introduce to Open Market when we hit (30%/ 50%/ forever pushed back) mined” – see GLC disintegration when they did that.

So, c’mon! Who are you going to believe? Some tax-sheltered, regulation-evading location, demonstrably shell related company who has issued provably out-right lies and clear deception about their accomplishments in order to bring in new recruits (to pay the old)?

….Or diligent blogger AND OTHER investigative media sources WHO ACTUALLY LIST AND SHOW ALL THEIR SOURCING AND REFERENCES?

Please.

(Anyone else critical of Onecoin? Let me know if I missed anything)

Welcome TimTayshun to the DNotes thread! Thank you for sharing your experience and thoughts on OneCoin. There does certainly appear to be strong reason for doubt that this is a legitimate enterprise that one could feel comfortable with. Hopefully your posts will help answer some questions for folks that may have been interested in it.

Welcome, Tim Tayshun.

Woo hoo! Will shortly have a pinch of Bitcoin to trade with on Cryptopia. Don't like seeing the split at 1590-1231.

Onecoin? Us IMZ guys work on a rude but defensible model: [sigh] we assume that any crypto is a scam until diligent analysis suggests otherwise.

I am a "hater" of Onecon" - having studied it for the past year and understand that it will rake in a few million dollars in lost investment from crypto-kindergartners who are enticed by bitcoin history, but have 0.05% understanding of cryptocurrency, in general.

A little about me:
I just celebrated my "3 year Anniversary" in following and paying close attention to Bitcoin.
As many can relate, this was my "first journey down the rabbit hole."

It took me ONE YEAR to actually set up MY OWN Bitcoin wallet (airBitz.co).
Previously, I had a friend hold my BTC for the preceeding 12 months.

In April, 2014 I decided that rather than mining, a Bitcoin ATM (BTM) would be the best way to capture a dependable amount of "satoshis," regularly. My thought was that "Bitcoin ATM's are the 'honey-badger' of mining" - in that, rather than a mining "lottery," I could be guaranteed a few satoshi, at least,. operating a BTM. And thus my immersion in the FINcen, MSB, MTL, etc., journey (phase 2) began!!

I successfully lanuched the first 2 way BTM in Orange County, CA on December 13th, 2014.

---------------------------

While working on a few Africa BTC projects, I was fascinated with GAW, Paycoin (XPY) and Homero's bombastic claims! Around this time I also began paying attention to onecoin.
--------------------------|

If ANYONE has specific questions about onecoin ....I'm pretty much "your guy" - as I undertand and can relate the crux of the scam, and how they are perpetuating it.

Congrats on your 3 years, Tim. Yeh, our mob also has a 'holding a friend's coin' facility. We call it 'vaults,' and it has enabled (small) crypto ownership by folks who otherwise would not have tried the waters.

And 'crypto-kindergarteners'? Yeh, when a crypto's blurbs are clearly aimed at people who are not crypto geeks? Warning, Will Robertson. Danger!

[And if you wanna PM me, there's a guy in our network who would like to ask about launching a crypto ATM.]

So, maybe THIS is the type of “Due Dilligence” your new recruits and downline should have taken before signing up!

I really enjoy in depth analyses with referencing like the one you've shared Tim Tayshun, thank you.

I'm very impressed that you've read all of so many different coins forum posts, including the DNotes thread. I stopped reading other forums when I got sick of how childish they were.

That's really cool having set up a 2 way Bitcoin ATM. Be so cool to have something like that over in NZ / AU.

Agreed, it's hard to pick up information when 3/4 of their entire thread is squabbling and bickering at each other.

Tim Tayshun you did a great job collecting information on Onecoin, thanks for bringing us all up to speed.

Thanks Kanus, as much as I hate to see increasing sell pressure, it is a good opportunity for an investor. There haven't been many times that I remember a pretty big amount being available for sale.
