I think the price will down The price is already up only for the "possibility" so your prediction is bullshit!

SegWit activation threshold is currently at 70.31% of the 75% needed - http://litecoinblockhalf.com/segwit.phpIf SegWit happens together with Lightning Networks, as is being planned by Charlie Lee, ... and BTC continues to dither, then that could be a game changer. Charlie Lee (7th January 2017): "My Vision For SegWit And Lightning Networks On Litecoin And Bitcoin" ... https://segwit.org/my-vision-for-segwit-and-lightning-networks-on-litecoin-and-bitcoin-cf95a7ab656bIn those circumstances, why would you need BTC? LTC has a similar market saturation to BTC. LTC could become everything BTC hoped to become and more. SegWit is now complete and ready to be unleashed. LTC + SegWit + Lightning Networks + the myriad of other options that gives, could mean that LTC becomes unstoppable in becoming a top 2 coin again, perhaps Number 1.

Nice speculation but to be fair Segwit on LTC will prove that LTC is better coin in case of mining POWER and evolving stuff same time Bitcoin is bounded in internal wars between stupid caps. Solution is simple you active segwit if works great u make progress if is not good you abandon it that is all. LN are needed to. BTC will suck forever or they will move forward. If BTC will keep civil war LTC can be no.1 mining coin - yea that is TRUE. So far Litecoin shows progress while BTC shows.... NOTHING

CSV makes it possible to add certain demands to your transaction. Think about stuff like multi-sig or locking funds for a certain time period.

Could the secret ASICBOOST mining exploit used by Chinese miners affecting BTC stop SegWit on LTC?
SegWit has been shown to stop ASICBOOST. Chinese miners who are not signalling for SegWit might be reluctant to give up their advantage. I hope not.
Are there any LTC mining experts out there who could shine some light on this? Can ASICBOOST be used on LTC?

Nice question, i'm also interested to know the answer! Not sure where the ASICBOOST situation is leading, but my money is on SegWit activation soon. There is too much of a demand for miners to ignore it. With the price rise I should imagine new mining ops will be switching to LTC. SegWit and the Coinbase news are two compelling reasons to buy and hold on LTC. If you are considering LTC, this is a must read: https://cointelegraph.com/news/segwit-hype-sees-litecoin-price-pass-10-for-first-time-since-2014EDIT: 8th April 2017 ... I've just learnt from a reliable source that Chinese miners are not using the ASICBOOST exploit to mine Litecoin - and couldn't, even if they wanted to. This is because there are differences between Litecoin and Bitcoin e.g. Litecoin is Scrypt-based. Any ASICBOOST capability on Litecoin is a long way off - that's if it were possible. By that time, Litecoin would have well and truly incorporated SegWit, Lightning Networks etc. So, it's a level playing field for all.
