Update March 17 (( EduCoin Week 1))
EduCoin launched one week ago, and we are pleased to see that we are growing as planned!
The devs are working to reach out to MOOCs, universities, and students in order to develop EduCoin (EDU) as a useful cryptocurrency for education. This is our priority, and we hope some of you in bitcointalk--especially those of you who are studying--share in that purpose.
While we are pleased that EduCoin was listed on an exchange yesterday for the first time, we know that solid progress means getting listed on recognizable exchanges like Mintpal and Cryptsy.
The fact that EduCoin is at 1 satoshi on an exchange today is not an indication of failure, and comments (or snark) that do not contribute to the discussion will be considered for removal.
We have a lot of work to do, and I look forward to updating this forum on the progress we make.

Care to name a few? For transparency reasons?
We won't name the ones we did contact as those discussions are currently private. We can names the ones we haven't, and we could use the help.
- MOOCs: Udemy is a great organization we'd love to reach out to. Many more from here:

- about 100-150 million college students worldwide
edit. The plan is to work our way down this list of MOOCs and to discuss bitcoin/educoin adoption:
http://www.technoduet.com/a-comprehensive-list-of-mooc-massive-open-online-courses-providers/If you want to help, the basic points for discussing with MOOC admins, professors, and students are:
- What do you think about adopting bitcoin as a means of payment?
- What do you think about using bitcoin/educoin for tipping professors (after courses end)?
- Have you heard of EduCoin?
- Does bitcoin/educoin have a role in MOOCs? What is your opinion?
