Developer Update: Updated list of verified schools requesting EDU donationsThrough the magic of social media, two teachers from an international school located in the high tech city of Seoul, Korea have expressed interest in using EDU in their classrooms. It is my pleasure to share with the community their classroom wallet addresses, as part of our ongoing EduCoin Seed Fund. Please make a generous donation! I have also added the original teacher who first requested EDU, Jason W. from an elementary school in Nebraska. He's number 3 on the list, but the very first with EduCoin! 1. Scott D's Math/Science class Address: 6LAySeP9uvh5sKZphRLPWKSJq2ioewMGxy Comment: "I want to educate my students about the possibilities that exist with a digital currency. My school is located in Korea. Being able to trade EduCoin with students all across the world could potentially give students insight into the capabilities of this technology." 2. Mathew G's Humanities class Address: 6MTQEze5ZBojzneqj7MEmR6qyKbxKoxMCd Comment: "Originally I was thinking of forging our own coin using coingen.io, but I just came across EDU yesterday and now I'm re-evaluating things. At this stage I'm mostly just dreaming up ways of integrating crypto on a daily basis. Obviously I'd like them to learn some fundamentals of economics, but I'm also keen to explore ideas of de-centralization, autonomy, social justice, etc. And it'll make for a sweet in-class reward system, too--a system where they can use coins to transact for prizes, privileges and whatever. We're a 1-to-1 laptop school, so all the kids will have digital wallets, they'll be able to exchange both inside and outside the confines of the class, and maybe they'll be able to leverage this into something bigger. Who knows. I'm excited about the possibilities. Maybe we get a few competing currencies operating in the class too." 3. Jason W's Computer Science & Technology class Address: 6YyJKMsGWqz6Ymc31WcUAb1pcT8BuNgv3K Comment: " As an K-5 elementary technology teacher, it is vital that we help individuals discover fundamental understandings of the world around them. One of the most fundamental concepts we should teach kids about is money/value. It’s my hope to use EduCoin and the idea of cryptocurrencies to start facilitating this discussion amongst my elementary students. In my classroom, we’ve already taken the plunge into global communication and collaboration through MinecraftEDU and Edmodo; the next step is to usher in an understanding of what is to come, and build upon what is already here. EduCoin is not an idea for the future, it’s an idea that belongs in the here and now. Consider donating to the minds of tomorrow."

If the rate is 20:1, that's not fair for the early supporters. They like this coin from the beginning, but now the total amount is 10:1, the swap rate is 20:1, you'll lose many early supporters.

EDU coin is to become the very first reverse split coin! Very interesting ..... Please explain what this means for us noobs See Message about EDUcoins potential RS : https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=486600.msg7176139#msg7176139Often this is done by publicly traded corporations with stock .. best explained by the professionals http://www.investopedia.com/terms/r/reversesplit.aspInvestopedia explains 'Reverse Stock Split' If a company has 200 million shares outstanding and the shares are trading at 20 cents each, a 1-for-10 reverse split would reduce the number of shares to 20 million, while the shares should trade at about $2. Note that the company’s market capitalization pre-split and post-split should – theoretically at least – be unchanged at $40 million.

+1 That's a pretty good explanation. Also, to the person(s) who donated to the EduCoin Foundation Fund, thanks for the 1-million coins. We'll keep them on reserve until we can find a useful donation target or fund need. If you in the community have any ideas who to send the coins to, please share! I saw the new plans for relaunch and they look good. The reverse split style concept makes sense considering
I have a few quick thoughts which may or may not be useful...
1) I noticed the forums page is a little quiet. Any ways to encourage participation might help as a lot of emphasis has been placed on community strength due to so many scam coins coming out recently. I'm guilty of not having participated yet but will get to it for the upcoming re-launch. Is that on track for next month?
2) I noticed a recent idea where a small percentage of what's mined from a coin automatically goes to a fund (hence not making it easily dump-able by Devs who choose to create a scam coin with pre-mine then dump it which creates more trust factor)... what happens is the pools pay out a small fee to a transparent community fund as they mine the coin and this can be used for things like voting on the bigger exchanges Mintpal/Cryptsy etc to get the coin listed and help market or promote the coin (could be done with the new coins PoW portion)
3) I noticed you put a message on the forum asking the miners collectively holding the approx 60 billion or so to help contributing to the development of the coin by donating to the fund instead of just mining and hoarding or selling. Perhaps all the pools could send the miners a Dev message presenting a plan to create value/awareness with an invitation to a mining community meetup on IRC for discussion if it appears the message didn't get through
Anyhow would like to know any plans you may have for promoting the coin globally throughout education? All I could think of was perhaps making a donations scheme to key universities/schools as well charitable education organisations, to create awareness and market the coin globally and maybe even attract some media attention, but that's an obvious one and it requires significant funds even if all the students involved only got a few coins each. But maybe this could be limited to charity type avenues - something like the Dogecoin does in their community
One other tiny thing... A slicker wallet for the new relaunch would be nice if that is achievable

Educoin could use a press release to show off all of it's good deeds. Videos always do well and are cheap to make on fiverr . . .
More exchanges needed . . .
Looking forward to the split.

EduCoin is in a slow, deliberate development phase. We are attracting and recruiting developers, hence the quiet community. As per the RoadMap, the first anticipated change is for July. However, this is highly contingent on what the dev team can accomplish in the weeks ahead.
I want to lower expectations for those of you who are coming here looking to check in on a short term investment vehicle. These aren't the droids you're looking for.
Anyone looking to join or contribute please read through the OP for links to get involved.
