I noticed on mintpal that everytime the price shoots up pretty sharply, an exaggerated drop follows right after.
Noticed the same, the last little pump seems just happened

I don't have a mintpal account, but you are talking about pumping and dumping. To prevent it, and protect your investment when you have an amount of it, place sellwalls at around 15% higher than the current price. So whoever is doing it will have to buy your coins at a higher price or stop their spike short. Then when it drops, buy it back.. If you keep doing this, they will lose money and you will increase your share and make the price more stable.

the last "pump" (you make me feel like a whale guys, with just 0.3 btc spent xD) actually was me, I'm no way trying to pump the price, just wanted to grab some coins before the hard fork...with the hard fork incoming I think the actual price is very very very very convenient, but might be wrong
edit: btw if I actually wanted to pump and dump, I could have dumped right after with some gain (obviously super low because I invested just a few fractions of btc), so I'm not really sure how does the anti pump and dump mechanism work with the irrationality of some people out there as variable...I guess it is effective with much bigger pumps
edit 2: just to be clear once again, I just bought without selling, so the price didn't spike and crash because of a pump&dump, looks like many people are still panicking and are resilient even to price increase

Ha ha no-one is accusing you, I've noticed people organizing pump rallies on twitter and mintpal seems to be the most popular destination for people just trying to get the graphs to jump around. This is a great time to buy and hold no question about it

Questions about the fork:
1. Is the new wallet available already now, or only on Monday? 2. Do we have to manually change anything, or will it self update and all the coins will transfer? 3. In order to continue mining, do we need to get a scrypt-N capable miner, e.g., vertminer?
Thanks.
