In the end BCCI now is responsible for getting IPL players infected with COVID19. This was a disaster waiting to happen and because of BCCCI's greed it happened.
Who is to be blamed, Sourav Ganguly as he is the BCCI president or Rajeev Shukla?
A great level of incompetent shown by the most powerful Cricket board. Now, will these guys be taken to court and punished? I guess no!
Shame on BCCI and those responsible in destroying it's reputation.

I think they have already tested all the players inside the bubble and that's how they figured out that a couple of players have COVID. They are taking precautions but honestly, still nobody knows how COVID spreads. There are speculations that it is air borne and not just through cough droplets. Especially since many of the COVID carriers are asymptomatic. It could be through surfaces as well..and since there has to be contact with the outer world outside the bubble for ration like grocery items as well as other necessary products. It could be from literally any source. I'm sure they do sanitize anything that comes into the bio bubble but it is interesting how they could contract COVID.
They have already found out how the players tested positive. Varun Chakravarthy left the bubble through the green channel a few days back, and re-entered after getting infected. The official explanation is that he visited a hospital for a shoulder scan and that is how he got infected. But I am not ready to believe this story. Sandeep Warrier was infected inside the bubble, after coming in to contact with Chakravarthy. So in case Warrier can get infected, then I suspect that many more players might have got the virus. The double-mutant strain of the virus gives negative results sometimes.

Who is to be blamed, Sourav Ganguly as he is the BCCI president or Rajeev Shukla? When the country is suffering from a pandemic and they thought about they could conduct the tournament inside a bubble they should have done things better, reports are that one of the players left the bubble and taken to hospital for check up and the mistake they did is that they never tested him or quarantined him before making contact with the rest of the players and then i heard some of the officials from the CSK also got infected. If that is the case then there is a lapse in the bubble they created. Shame on BCCI and those responsible in destroying it's reputation.
So the way in which they will be responding and handling these situation determines whether they will be a laughing stock.

The BCCI might not cancel the tournament as per today's report as they are planning to shift the entire venue from Mumbai which is one of the worst affected place in the country right now to somewhere safe and i am not sure how they are going to do that safely and right now we are certain that the tournament will extend as i have no idea whether it will continue as normal and if that happens then other tournaments will also be affected including the WTC finals.

As of now KKR players were asked to bo in the isolation for 7 days in that time they have three matches which will be postponed and CSK team members along with their bowling coach also tested positive so the entire CSK team is at risk now so they will conduct multiple tests to confirm is there any covid spread between the players but I don't see anywhere the league will be postponed but it may happen if bio bubble burst or more franchises.

Once the virus enters the bubble, it is very difficult to contain it. I still don't understand why Varun Chakravarthy was allowed back in to the bubble, without proper quarantine measures. From what I heard, he was allowed to reenter the bubble without even a single day of quarantine. This is a grave error from the part of the BCCI and now they are paying the price for their negligence. And the fact that Warrier got infected inside the bubble proves that now infection is spreading there. Delhi Capitals are isolating themselves, as they were the last teams to play against the KKR. Can the IPL go ahead under these circumstances?

From what I heard, the tournament has been suspended for an indefinite period. https://www.espncricinfo.com/story/ipl-2021-suspended-as-covid-count-increases-1262269There is a BCCI meeting next week, and a decision on how to schedule the remaining matches will be taken during that meeting. But given the CoVID 19 situation in India, I am not hopeful of a resumption anytime during the next 2 months. And in case the tournament resumes within the next 2-3 months, I am not sure whether all of the overseas players will remain with the franchises.

It is official the IPL is suspended indefinitely as more players tested positive as Sunrisers Hyderabad becomes the third team that is suffering from positive cases. I am not sure whether all of the overseas players will remain with the franchises.
Not sure how the overseas players will be able to leave India as England, Australia and New Zealand has suspended flights from India and they will face prosecution if they fly from India and Australia went one step further saying they will face 5 year jail sentence if they breach those. So it is a tricky situation for everyone involved.

^^^ Foreign players are in a tricky situation. They may be forced to stay in India for another month or so, if their countries don't want them back. Since the numbers are large, I hope that the Australian government will implement some sort of an exemption and will allow them back. There is already one loophole in the US travel ban. Those who are traveling to the US from India can quarantine themselves in a "safe" country such as Mexico or Turkey for 14-days before entering the States. I hope there are similar loopholes with Australia as well.

I guess they will need to wait untill the restriction has been removed. BCCI made it tricky, when they knew that the situation in India and especially in Maharashtra is so bad they should have stopped IPL for the time being and should have rescheduled it later. Strict action should be taken against those responsible.

Strict action should be taken against those responsible. First of all they made the mistake by staging the matches in two of the worst affected cities - Mumbai and Delhi. And the breach in bio-bubble occurred in one of these cities. If they had scheduled the tournament in the UAE, then they would have been able to complete it without much issues. They ignored the warning from a lot of medical experts and were adamant about their decision to stage the matches in India. Everyone is suffering as a result now.

The official statement says... The announcement came after Sunrisers Hyderabad’s wicketkeeper-batsman Wriddhiman Saha tested positive for COVID-19 along with Delhi Capitals’ veteran spinner Amit Mishra. Earlier on Monday, Chennai Super Kings bowling coach L Balaji along with Kolkata Knight Riders bowlers Sandeep Warrier and Varun Chakravarthy had also returned positive results.
I just hope and pray that everyone will be fine and no serious harm for anyone. This might be the toughest time for the families of foreign players as they will be worried too much for their husband or son. The BCCI is assuring the safety of the players but the problem in India no one is safe anywhere right now.

So Amit Mishra has also tested positive? It looks like they are still testing some of the players and more positive results may come out later today or tomorrow. One thing is sure. The bio-secure bubble was breached at least 2-3 days back. It is not possible for multiple people from different franchises to get infected in just one day. The BCCI should investigate about how the virus managed to enter the bubble, rather than blaming Varun Chakravarthy for the fiasco.

I shocked when I saw that IPL has been stopped since the virus entered into more teams and in my opinion, it will take at least 2 to 3 months to resume the matches again if they want to continue the matches in India, or else they should move the tournament to UAE or another country which is also less likely to happen.
BCCI and Franchises will take care of the players because they got enough money to keep everyone in the hotels for years so no need to worry about them.

BCCI made the mistake of conducting the matches in India, when the pandemic was at its peak. Now they should properly compensate the players, especially those from the foreign nations. The BCCI bosses (especially Ganguly and Shah) are responsible for this situation, as they never considered any factor other than making money. Now at least they should move the T20 World Cup to the UAE. India is not in a condition to host any major tournament under current conditions.

India are passing a tough situation, so this is really anticipated choice. I think it's right call from BCCI, no one should make complain as of now. However, this was meant to be done few days before but they tried to keep going through. As a cricket fan it's sad but safety of cricketers should be paramount and put at highest priority. Looking forward the better days of cricket.

There seems to be some disagreement between the ICC and the BCCI regarding the T20 World Cup. The ICC wants to move the event to Dubai as soon as possible, but the BCCI want them to wait for a few more weeks at least, saying that the tournament is many months away. On this, I would side with the ICC. It has been proven now that the BCCI cares only about money and not a bit about the well being of the players. So ICC is absolutely right in their demand to move the tournament outside India.

Strict action should be taken against those responsible. That is how confidence looks like, when you have a second wave and people dying around you, you need to be confident that nothing will happen unless anything serious happens and now they knew that they cannot handle the situation when multiple people from different teams started to get infected and rather than delaying things they paused the series indefinitely when they should have done a few weeks earlier.

The peak will be reduced in the next week or two so the condition will become normal in 2 months maximum so they will be good to conduct the tournaments if everything goes normally. I don't know about the IPl contract between the players where is something related to such emergency compensation is available but they paid good amount at the auction so they will also be happy with the money they got as long as BCCI is taking all the expenses until the IPL resumes.
