Samson is a very good player, but the problem is that he can't maintain the continuity of his performance. If he performs brilliantly in one match, he will be out for very few runs in the next few matches. I think KL Rahul and Rishab pant is a more stable player than Samson.

At this point there is no person more suitable to the role of wicketkeeper batsman than Rishabh Pant. He has performed exceptionally in international cricket, and again in the IPL. KL Rahul should have been the second choice and I don't know how Samson managed to get selected.

BTW, there is confirmation from Sourav Ganguly that the remainder of the IPL can't be staged in India. But at this point, he is refusing to give his opinion on the future of the T20 World Cup, and about which country would possibly host both the T20 World Cup and the remainder of the IPL.

Shikar Dawan played really well this season and scored some match winning innings and so does Prithvi Shaw as he was in great touch in the IPL as he is continuing his great form from the Vijay Hazare Trophy. If you want to include Virat Kohli as the captain which i never had an opinion that he is the best captain as he never perform as a captain when things are not going in his way i would replace Sanju Samson as the wicket keeper because ABD can be the wicket keeper and hence replace him with Virat Kohli .

Considering Sanju's consistency i won't keep him even in the 2nd team lol and if some one say that Virat should be captain of IPL team or when playing in the ICC tournament, well just stop talking to that person for good.

Virat Kohli is a very good player, but not a good captain. I would rather agree with Cricinfo's choice of Kieron Pollard. His win percentage in matches which he captained Mumbai Indians is quite high. MS Dhoni hasn't performed very well as a player in IPL 2021, but I would still rate him as one of the best captains. Steve Smith may be another option, but right now I can't consider too many other players for that role. As far as I am concerned, it has to be either Pollard or Dhoni.

He was one of the best 5 years back, but not now. But then again, I have to say that he is miles ahead of Kohli. Nowadays Kohli seems to be blind and unable of rational thinking due to arrogance.

Not sure whether Dhoni has any say in the auction process when selecting the players, the team management who spends the money and the coaching members will take care of the team selection as far as i know. This time around they rectified all their issues and they were having one of the best seasons with new additions in the team and i was expecting them to dominate this years IPL.

Anyone who understands and watches cricket for multiple decades will tell you that MS Dhoni is one of the best captains in the history of cricket. I would rank Clive Lloyd and Steve Waugh above anyone else because the way in which they dominated world cricket under their captaincy and under them they refuse to loose and that was their dominance. Under MS Dhoni India learned to win series abroad and dominate oppositions with tactical moves which even surprises the opposition and i would rank him along with Ricky Ponting and Hansie Cronje.

If you think that he is not the best in the history of world cricket, i would like to hear about your list whom you think are better than him.

Who doesnt like to train their team and make money at the same time? BCCI definitely does. Its a great way to give some young up and coming players a chance and some International cricket exposure.

I won't compare MSD with any other captains to be honest because the conditions were not same when we are talking about captaining at different time periods but I would say MSD is one among the top 5 of all the great/best captains in cricket history. And he did managed to win all the 3 trophies of ICC who never did before but the main thing about MSD is the players were not the world's best players when he did that which is the reason why we call MSD is a tactician.

Virat is having great records too as captain for team India but he is completely different from MSD and he is kind of aggressive while MSD wants to win the matches at the last ball.

They can't name the team as India A, because this tour was due as per the Future Tours Programme (FTP). Also, if you remember an Indian tour of Sri Lanka was scheduled for June 2020, but was cancelled due to the pandemic. This tour will most probably serve as the replacement. The test squad comprises of 20 players, plus another 4 reserves. So these 24 players will be unavailable for Sri Lanka. BTW, still there is no confirmation on the future of the T20 World Cup. The BCCI seems to be quite adamant that they want to host it in India.

So basically BCCI has unofficially divided Indian team into two parts. One a Test side, which will be playing the test world cup in August and the other team which will be playing the Srilanka series in July. This means IPL might happen in June but where??

From what I heard, the BCCI is planning to conduct the remainder of the IPL sometime in September, just before the T20 World Cup. The BCCI bosses (at least some of them) believe that it may still be possible to stage the remaining 31 matches in India (although Ganguly is against this idea). Can the situation change a lot in 2-3 months? I don't think so. And they are also trying their best to conduct the T20 World Cup in India, which is a stupid idea.

MSD not among the best? Lol. This guy smartly transformed the Cricket structure in India through his tactical brilliance. He was already proclaimed as a legend in the Cricketing world long back when India won the World Cup.

No captain is perfect. He is human. Their performance last year was abysmal indeed, but look how they bounced back this year. The CSK management could have replaced like him like what SRH did to Warner, but they chose to trust him and look what happened.
