Strangely how things have changed for the South Africa team. A few years before they were consider on of the stronger teams but now people are predicting that they will be washout in the series against a low profile time like West Indies. We see some very poor performances by Sri lanka and South Africa recently which left only 3 - 4 nations dominating the cricket.

West Indies is quite strong, as far as the T20 format is concerned. South Africa crushed West Indies during the test series, but T20 is another story altogether. And the important thing here is that West Indies destroyed South Africa yesterday, without most of their star players. Andre Fletcher and Evin Lewis opened the batting for West Indies, while their opening bowler was 21-year old spinner Kevin Sinclair. They fielded such a young and inexperienced side, and still South Africa couldn't compete against them.

No doubt Windies are the real giant and formidable force in the T-20 format and only this team has a ability to mock their opponent. I'm afraid to say but if they manage to click this year in October then i don't see any team is able to defeat them. Even World XI can't compete them when they are in form.

Each match consists of 6 overs. I thought it will be interesting to watch these matches but i did not enjoyed few matches which were played yesterday.

I'm afraid to say but if they manage to click this year in October then i don't see any team is able to defeat them. Even World XI can't compete them when they are in form.

The West Indies squad for T20 World Cup will be like picking the best players from each of the IPL franchises and squeezing them to a 15-member side. Look at the names - Kieron Pollard, Nicholas Pooran, Andre Russell, Dwayne Bravo, Andre Fletcher, Chris Gayle, Evin Lewis, Sunil Narine.etc. These are some of the best players in this format. Other teams have a maximum of 3 or 4 T20 specialists and West Indies have 15 T20 specialists. That is the difference. Unless there are any issues with team bonding or cohesion, West Indies should be the favorites.


Romania has won the quadrangular T20 tournament in Sofia (Bulgaria). It was really disappointing. Out of the four teams participating, Romania had a team that was entirely consisted of foreigners. The only native player was Pavel Florin. Greece and Bulgaria had squads that were around 50% native and 50% foreigner. They finished 2nd and 3rd. Serbia had a 100% native squad and they lost all of their matches and finished last. The stupid ICC eligibility laws are killing cricket in associate nations. Very soon, all the associate nations will be importing players from India and Pakistan and fielding these 100% foreign squads for various tournaments. Associate cricket has become a joke.

I agree with you on that point, mainly cricket is a batsmen game. The role of bowlers in the T20 format is less. Even a good world-class bowler can give a lot of runs in T20 matches. If the batsmen are in good form, it is possible to win T20 matches even if the bowlers perform poorly. Almost all the players in the West Indies team are T20 specialists. They can bat very well and they have the ability to beat any team.

West Indies have the strongest T20 squad in the world and with the names you included who could change any match single handedly if any of the mentioned players are in form and then there is Shimron Hetmyer, Jason Holder and Carlos Brathwaite who helped them win their first T20 World Cup by smashing sixes at will but we did not see him perform that well after that but they have the best players in the world in the format and then England has a great team.

They seems to have learnt their lesson from what happened during the 2007 ODI World Cup.

Yeah, i posted this on last page but its not clear how many games each team going to play. If the smaller teams such as Ireland make it to the semifinal stage, then the ICC will just exclude them from the next tournament. This is exactly what happened in 2007. After India and Pakistan were kicked out in the group stage by the smaller teams, the ICC decided to reduce the number of participating teams from 16 to 10. The message from pig 3 is loud and clear - if the associate nations want to participate in the global tournaments, then they should allow the full members (or at least the pig 3) to qualify to the semis.

No one is looking at West Indies team squad at the moment and they will be surprise to see such a perfect T20 team for this world cup. Also consider that this world cup is being played in UAE which is a batting paradise and there are big hitters for the WI. If west indies start the tournament well, i will place the bet on them to be the winner in the early stages.

Under current circumstances, everyone knew that it was impossible to hold the tournament in India. But BCCI was delaying their decision, hoping for some last minute miracle. Anyway, I hope that the ICC will come up with the complete schedule within a few days now. Hopefully all the uncertainty surrounding the tournament will end now and it will be co-hosted by Oman and the UAE.

I have seen reports that there are new variants of the virus in India called the Delta Plus variant and so is the reason many countries have restricted travelers from India and another Lambda variant is identified in England, so this is here to stay for more years to come and all we need to do is to find a solution to conduct the matches in a controlled situation .

Yeah, there is a new variant and these variants will come and go as the virus keeps on mutating itself. This new variant as per the report is far deadlier than the others. Few media outlets have again started saying that the third wave will start from July itself, not sure what will happen next but it seems the government has increased the vaccination procedure. Still not the right time to host any kind of tournaments in India.

The economy will be completely destroyed if the lockdown measures remain in place. In India, the domestic 4-day championship (Ranji Trophy) was last conducted in 2019. The domestic players have seen their salaries declining by anywhere from 60% to 80%. But then, after so many deaths, it will be unwise to restart the tournaments. The only solution is vaccination. But India has completely vaccinated only 4.3% of its population (compared to 48% for the United Kingdom). And for reaching herd immunity, you need to completely vaccinate at least 75%. Until that figure is reached, I don't want India to host any major cricket tournaments.
