IPL starts tomorrow in Dubai. First match will be played between MI and CSK. CSK is standing better than MI on the point table whereas MI are defending champions of the tournament. It would be interesting to see if MI can win the match. I hope IPL this time ends smoothly without any hiccups. Back to back T20 tournaments till the end of this year.

The momentum has been lost and it will be interesting to see which of the franchises can perform better in the second leg of the IPL.

It seems that if the series is paused and resumed after few months the momentum would be lost and there will be less interest. In reality this does not happen.
We have witness this in PSL where it was stopped coupe of times due to covid but then when it was resumed people showed same interest in the tournament. People want to watch their favorite teams and gamblers want to bet on the match. You will find there will be house full in the stadium too (provided crowd is allowed in dubai).

Nothing could be done about such kind of interruptions due to pandemic and I guess that it is easily understandable for both players and fan hence there cannot be any room for losing interest. When I was severe curfew, I was watching replays of few exciting matches but now getting opportunities to watch live T20 which means even not a regular cricket follower also may start watching.

People want to watch their favorite teams and gamblers want to bet on the match.

Gambling must be the another reason why there cannot be any interruption in the flow of following paused and resuming series like this year edition of IPL.

Let's take an example. Say, India and Pakistan are playing a match in Dubai in the evening, when the dew is supposed to set in. Say India bid seven runs while Pakistan bid ten. Pakistan win the auction and decide to bat first. Now whatever total Pakistan make, India begin their chase with ten runs on the board. If Pakistan instead opt to chase, they would need to make ten more runs than India actually made to beat India.

I think its just a proposal or advice. I don't think this will be implemented anytime soon or later. It will create more complications in cricket. Yeah, sometimes in a day night match, winning a toss means winning a match in case there is a dew factor but this does not happen in every match. I think we are good to stay with the toss and not replace it with auctions.

Yes, the momentum is lost but if you are cricket fan then you will watch these matches again. Anyways IPL is the only tournament that will be played from today and will end just before the T20 worldcup. You will have nothing else to watch in this period and automatically you will watch these matches.

I don't support these stupid moves from the ICC. It will flop, just like the "supersub" option which they came up with a few years back. Let toss have an effect on the match. It is part of the game. If they change it, then comparing with the past matches will get more complicated. Already there is a perception in non-cricket playing countries such as China and the United States that cricket is a very complicated sport. In fact, baseball became popular in the US because a lot of people found the rules very simple.

The decision to kick Kedar Jadhav out of the squad is perhaps the best thing that ever happened with the Chennai Super Kings. He played a major role in their debacle during the 2020 season. However during the 2021 season, the CSK middle order performed credibly and that is the reason they are doing so well in the points table. But I still worry about their bowling lineup, which is not as strong as some of the other franchises. There is some over-dependence on Deepak Chahar, but I hope this time others like Shardul Thakur will be able to offer good support.

I do not think that Chennai Super Kings may score 130+. As of now they are struggling by losing 4 key batters including their skipper MS Dhoni. If the current pair will be able to put a 100+ partnership then we can see Chennai Super Kings to score 150+ runs. But, bowling attacks against world class bowlers like Boult and Bumbra, I do not think it will be possible and I guess Chennai Super Kings may not touch 120 itself.

Today I got better odds for Mumbai Indians in my favorite places but due to new pitch and new leg of tournament, I opted not to bet on the first match of this leg of IPL. I guess I have missed a very good opportunity today.

The CSK top order looked well out of touch and it is really disappointing to see all of them struggling to score runs, may be they needs to start adding youngsters than older players .

His first spell went for 3-1-11-2, and his fourth over went for 24 runs. Jasprit Bumrah is tailor made for such occasions and they still went with Boult. If Bumrah had bowled 3 out of the last 5 overs, then there is no way CSK would have made a total in excess of 150. IMO, Boult should bowl 3 overs in his first spell, and then the final over should be squeezed sometime before the first powerplay.

Chennai scored 156 runs. Very good collection. But the funny thing is that 3 batsmen have been out for zero runs. Dhoni and Raina scored 3 and 4 runs respectively. Only Gaikwat and Bravo's 8-ball 23-run innings helped Chennai to such a big collection. I still thinking that ,Mumbai will win.

Whatever it may be i never expect CSK to score above 130 let alone 156 runs at the end of the first inning and full credits to Ruturaj Gaikwad who i am hearing about the first time in this tournament as i think he performed well during the initial stages as well and then Ravindra Jadeja and the special cameo by Dwayne Bravo took the team to a decent total. What happened to Rohit Sharma as he is not in the team and will MI struggle to reach the target without him .

Zimbabwe vs Ireland third T20 match today, Zimbabwe need only two runs to win the match. Ireland collected 177 runs within 20 overs but Zimbabwe already knocking on door to win .

Zimbabwe won the match with 5 balls to spare.
