The second T20 match in the WPL yesterday against Giant and Warriorz was pretty close. Warriorz won because of incredible batting by Grace Harris, she made 59 in just 26 balls. The target given by Giants was not that bad. It was competitive for the Giants to win as Warriorz with just 1 ball left. Such close-finish matches are what make league cricket worth watching.

The match was very competitive. I was unlucky. They lost both matches. It's a shame the way the Gujarat team lost in the first match. They were defeated by 143 runs in the first match. They batted very badly. But in the second match, despite their batting being good enough, they could not win. UPW needed 19 runs in the last over to win. And they won the match by scoring 24 runs in just 5 balls. Gujarat could have won the match if Sutherland could have bowled with some control.

RCB Women's unit first followed RCB Men's footsteps by conceding 200+ runs on their inaugural match.

Also following their collapse and choking strategy nicely, that's a true RCBian's spirit lmao. Although I still want RCB women to win the trophy, not because I am a big RCB fan but rooting for them because i want meme content.  

Shefali Verma and Meg Lanning took the match away from RCB. These two have batted really well. At first, I did not see but later I realized that only two wickets had fallen in the first innings while DC was batting. So of course they are going to score a very big total.

A 60 run win is not small at all. This is also going to be very good for the net run rate of DC. RCB will need to start performing better. Of course, this is just the start. So they have a lot of time.

Delhi Capitals had a great start with a massive 60-run win against RCB to their WPL 2023 campaign. As expected, RCB's season began with disappointment. It's nothing new for RCB fans, to be honest. RCB often appears to be overconfident and struggles with poor captaincy as they don't utilize their bowlers effectively. Even though the team invests in the best batters globally, they seem to overlook the importance of a strong bowling department. Let's see if RCB Women can make a strong comeback in their next match.

Scoring 223 runs in T20 format in women's cricket is not an easy task. And once this score is reached, the opposition may not have the ability to chase that run. In Womens Premier League 2023, 2nd match, Royal Challengers Bangalore Women ended the innings with only 163 runs against the target set by Delhi Capitals Women 223. World class batsmen have a good association with the name Royal Challengers Bangalore in the Premier League. This is in both women's and men's leagues. Royal Challengers Bangalore are not doing very well in men's cricket. We will have to watch a few more matches to know how they play in women's cricket. Hope they keep the reputation of the team  in this Womens Premier League.

I never expected to see such a big score in women's cricket. In Women's T20 we see runs like 150-160 most of the time. But in several matches in the WPL, teams have collected more than 200. Mumbai Delhi's batting line-up is very strong. And from this, it can be deduced that women's cricket is improving day by day. And if the teams perform well, the audience will be more attracted to watch women's cricket.

I felt the same way. Several 200+ scores in just the first couple of games surprised me and made me realise that these ladies are playing as well as their male counterparts which is great overall.

It is actually really surprising to see the ladies scoring so many runs. I think they are actually creating pitches friendly for batting. Because if not many runs are scored, people are not going to want to see the matches. Just because there are a lot of fireworks going on, there will be a lot of people really interested to see these matches. So my opinion is that this is a good marketing strategy.

I mean there is no point to compare the women's IPL with the men's first ever IPL. The teams were different, the players were different and the circumstances were different. If the underdogs Rajasthan Royals won the first IPL, this does not mean that this time in WPL the same thing will repeat.

Mandana was bought at a very high price due to her agressive batting ability in T20 format but it seems her performance in the WPL has been below average. I understand once in a while batters struggle to get into form but losing the form in a tournament that pays you better than your cricket board doesn't looks good in the long run. Considering RCB team management for both men & women I don't think it will affect her that much but it might affect her standing in the national team.

Congratulations Haley Matthews on becoming the first orange cap holder in Women Premier League. 47 runs in just 31 balls against GGT and then yesterday she scored 77 runs in just 38 balls. She also took 3 wickets & gave 28 runs. What a tournament this has been for her.

For the finals, why did you choose DC to be the winner? Aren't the Mumbai Indian girls better as the way they won the two matches?

I placed a big bet on DC outright to win the final primarily because of Meg Lanning who helped Australia win 7 World Cup titles so far which pretty much says everything.

She took a break and returned and still managed to help her team win the recent World Cup. MI does seem like the favorites to win the cup, but T-20 cricket is a volatile format which is why I bet on DC.

I feel for RCB's fans but have to agree that they are staunch followers of their franchise. No matter if their team or favorite player is humiliated on the field or not, win or not.

First season mostly players are having not good experience of this level game and things are completely out of the control for many players which is surely interesting just because of this I am not favoring any team as I have good feeling about this event and all teams which are going to participate and having good performance with in next few years things could be clear, and we can predict who is good and who can improve right now just few teams which having quality players are going to enjoy and many will be on good way for their career because this is just started for the women's new era in cricket here in world's most populated cricketing country who is already holding world's biggest cricketing event IPL.

Hayley had an absolutely unbelievable inning in that match (77 from 38 balls). Her strike rate was more than 200. If she continues to perform like this she is going to be a big container for the best player of the tournament. She is also going to take her team a long way in the tournament.

This tournament has been very batting-friendly so far. I am expecting a good performance from Hayley in the future as well. The first match of Mumbai Indians was one sided. But the second match was not that one sided, it was easy. However, I will say Hayley made it easy for the team.

It was a good game. I thought Women's cricket doesn't make big viewers have interest in watching the matches. Looking upon the performance from the women's team regularly the crowd and the viewers watching the matches have increased. This is really an important thing and an indication that WPL is growing. As of now Mumbai Indians and Delhi Capitals were the strongest teams. Much expected team from Chennai, but things didn't happen. Maybe in the upcoming seasons more teams can be seen. In the match between Delhi Capitals and UP Warriorz it was big win for Delhi Capitals. Up Warriorz too tried the best and Tahlia McGrath missed her century scoring 90* runs. Each and every ball is important and every team needs to be prepared to face it.

The gap is not between Indian and overseas players, but between capped and uncapped players. Overseas players in general have performed well till now, as most of them have prior experience in WBBL and W100. Fielding needs a lot of improvement and I don't think that we will witness a very large change within the next 1-2 seasons. It would have been a good idea to include 5 overseas players in the XI. But then the BCCI put additional rider that one of the players should be from associate nation. Given the aversion towards associate players from the IPL franchises, only one of them have used this loophole to increase the overseas quota to 5 (Delhi Capitals Women, who brought in Tara Norris).

I noticed the same. I don't think any Indian scored more than 60 runs so far while overseas players like Talia scored 90 not out which says a lot. The primary reason is because of the difference in their builds.

There are many strong, athletic overseas ladies in every team and many of them have performed well so far.
