We cannot say how long the ICO will last it depend on their sales if the softcap is not reached at all then there is a possibility to extend there ICO in several months, or sometimes due to the market condition they will also extend there ICO.

Even in the event that an attacker gains more than 50% of the network's computational power, only transactions sent by the attacker could be reversed or double-spent. The network would not be destroyed.

The duration of ICO's is dependent on the team and their ability to raise fund. In most cases, ICO ends immediately they sell all the allotted tokens for ICO. This may range from few minutes to several months. Secondly, there's a time frame fixed for the sales, this could be reviewed, if the team is unable to meet with the targeted fund.

I do not like it when ico projects extend their deadlines immediately by half a year ahead. if they lacked 1 million dollars and they have already collected 5, then they extend for half a year. very strange

It all depend on the project which can decide their faith, some last just a no the while I have seen some lasting for year but in all just invest little you can afford to lost as most ICO now are not that reliable even if they have people you think you can trust in their team , as money can change people within a seconds ,most especially this crypto market that many just dash in because of the funds but don't have anything to offer .

I think each project have their own limitations on how long the project will run and I think it's explaining to their whitepaper. But some project delayed the progress especially the project which runs from the last year. Many of them cannot explain the reason why they delay or cancel the project, so many participants were disappointed. But some of the ICO project delays explain to participants that they cannot reach the softcap and hardcap so they should stop the project for a while. Usually, the project will run for 3-4 months, but many of ICO have running for more than 5 months especially in this bear market.

It's really hard to answer how many months an ICOS project takes. Because it depends on the ICOS project. Some projects take one or three months. I understand you want to mention a waste of time when your campaign is long and unsuccessful.
Most of the current projects last very long and it makes investors spend a lot of time and money. I think instead of investing in ICO, you should choose new coins listed on good exchanges or participate in IEO projects that will help you earn better profits. For me the current ICO projects are trying to make money from people and you should not participate in any projects at this time.

That looks so shady to see that, it's not only strange but it can't be considered as a good thing. Remember it's more than enough if they have already collected 5 millions dollars and that's a lot of money.
It's suspicious

How long does Ico last?

So, my friend is participating in the subscription campaign in the OUTOFTHLOUD project. https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=4814891.0
then something has changed and now https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=5085373
The rewards program began on August 1 and continues to this day. It has been 8 long months. Posts in social networks stopped at the end of 2018. For all Telegram questions, when the program ends for a fee, my friend gets one answer - after Ico. When asked when Ico will end - silence.
It’s a pity to throw a signature, it turns out 8 months of work wasted ...

Tell me, is there a limit on the duration of Ico? It can not last forever?

The length of the process to finish ICO depends on how much the project has earned through their sale. But based on the I your friend has joined, maybe it was a scam and you should be aware of that.

The amount of time required to compuire 3 days and another may require 1 month or more to complelete the crowd sale objectives is a flexible determinant of a successful initial Coin Offering campaign, as one ICO may reqtely exhaust their tokens sales or achieve a their minimum cap. While it is almost impossible to relate Initial Coin Offering success rate with time frame given to campaign due to insufficient data, it is quite possible to deduce that amount of time needed to successfully execute an Initial Coin Offering campaign is of paramount importance. Different parameters govern the length of a token sale campaign. These includes, a division of the token sale activity, capitalization, media publicity, ratings and ranking from ICO review websites, Community support of the project, and smooth running of the campaign like Files.FM , Windhan and Bitrus.

Dealing with ico periods and how long does an ico takes should not be a discussion, every project has its own road map which includes the starting date and the ending date, and when the end date is reached there must to be a stop to the selling, if happen that your friend don't notice that i think it's his first bounty. Tell him to move on

ICO's are quite unregulated, so indeed they can go on indefinitely or even be declared an outright failure by the team, which happened

numerous times. That's partly why more supervised structures like IEO's are more in vogue these days...

There is no specific time for an ICO. Most times it will depend on the target if the ICO and once it is met the ICO closes. I have participated in an ICO that lasted just a week and the shares were all sold off. I took part in another that lasted over 6months too.

I did an ICO that lasted for 12 months. And in the end it turned out a failure. Normal ICO should be no more than 3 months.
Normal ICO is not determined by sales time. Due to the current situation, there are many ICOs that stopped project until better case. Also, there are ICOs that have been extended for about 1 year since they cannot reach the softcap.

Some reasons why ICO do sales extensions is due to their status which they aren't unable to reach the minimum target(softcap) which they used to support their project for the continual development and it sometimes they will pause the project. I remember that I've participated ICO before which it takes 1 year, but the good thing is that we are paid and aren't be a scam unlike mostly it happen to the ICO's today.

ICOs not been regulated does justify how long an ICO will last or them making the sales indefinite and I check the time mentioned by the OP and I realized that it was the time that most ICOs fail to reach their soft cap and I believed the project in subject was also among the project that was unable to reach their softcap.

When ICO started, the good ones hardly last up to two weeks before they are sold out We have also witnessed some that were sold out in few hours. But now, ICOs no longer end. They run perpetually.

The period of an ICO depends on the project team. They alone can tell. The thing is, most do not have integrity and thereby prolong their ICO just for their selfish gains meanwhile, some do this to raise enough funds for the project.

I think as long the team is still a ctive in their social media's or always give update about I think you don't need to worry because it means the project is still on. It takes time to every project to end, it's depends to them if there funds is enough to make their project develop.

Every investor should know this since we are getting hard on making the ICO lasts and succeed through the offering stage. For me capitalization is the most important in a project especially if its a software type project.

Definitely, capitalization is the basis on how the project could go in the future. Just like these ICOs, they offer software services such as cloud and exchange.
Files.FM - Online backup for files in most efficient cost and unlimited p2p traffic.
Bitrus - 50+ cryptocurrency with different UIs especially for beginners plus investing tournament for a chance to trip to Mexico
