Can I go for exchange advertised in Nigeria by comedians?

I like watching comedy a lot, I noticed comedy have turn to business in Nigeria, all them are doing it for one reason, the reason is to be rich, they are using it for advertising and they are paid.

The question I want to ask is that many exchanges they are advertising I have not heard of the exchanges before, what are you know about the exchanges, are the exchanges safe to use to buy bitcoin true true?

What I mean are crypto exchanges.
The way cryptocurrency be ba, e need some professional and technical things wey suppose take good care and monitor the trading in a crypto exchange. The comedians are doing  their work by advertising the exchange, beside if person invest in such exchange, it is very risk because even the exchange wey people they normally use, there is risk involved.

I really need an advise and a way forward
There is one man wey chat me up on my Telegram account, him talk say him need my help make I help am sell his bitcoin that him don reach his maximum withdrawal, so make I create new account for the exchange http://bitrimex.com make I send am my BTC address on the exchange. So I registered and I send am the address, him send me 0.077btc and him talk say make I send am come one address like that, but I should hold 400$ for my sacrifice for him. Now as I Wan send am them ask me to activate my external wallet by depositing BTC on the wallet to activate withdrawal. Pls I really need help because I begin to think say this guy Wan scam me, because I never experience this kind thing before, na why I decide to share it hear, if na scam make newbie like me take note. Thanks

Even if an exchange is reputed, it is not good to hold on exchanges, it is not the person's key, it is not the person's coin on blockchain, no full control, the exchanges got the full control that can override yours. Noncustodial wallets provide the keys to have the full control by oneself. Offline wallets are the safest, like paper wallet, hardware wallet and wallet on an airgapped device.

I really need an advise and a way forward
It is a scam.

Let me explain a bit further. Like I implied before, it is not your key, if you send coin to that exchange, you will not be able to spend from it, the owners of the fake exchange will have the control because they have the keys, they will only be the one that can spend from the exchange, which means you sending bitcoin to that exchange will definitely lead to you to be a scam victim.

The scam exchange domain was registered (created) less than one and a half month ago on 30th October, which is an indication of how fake it is. Also not listed on Coinmarketcap or Coingecko.

Note that most of the comedy skits carry a disclaimer. DYOR the comedians cannot be held responsible for any action from the exchanges. I suggest you use the popular exchanges like binance, Coinbase,  roqqu, Patricia
I can see from a post that we can check some exchanges on coin market cap and coingecko, I don't see roqqu and patricia, are you sure the exchange are good? Are the exchange local nigeria exchange?

I have see patricia advertised on big brother Nigeria before, I am think it will be good.

I want to ask also are they giving me private key or they will have it? Have you used Patricia before? Hkwnis there service.

I am asking this because I want to support local exchange too.

Roqqu and Patricia are Nigerian owned exchanges. The others are  foreign exchanges (binance, Coinbase), these exchanges are centralized and provide custodial wallets which means you don't have access to your private keys. You entrust your crypto entirely to the exchange. Here you are not in control of your crypto if something should happen to the exchange your crypto goes along with it. That's why it is preferable to use non custodial wallets to store your crypto. You can buy from centralized exchanges but never store on centralized exchanges.

Quote
Although often called Bitcoin wallets, services like Coinbase and Circle aren’t true Bitcoin wallets. Customers private keys are held by these third party services, meaning users don’t really have control of their money. As Bitcoiners often say: “if you don’t control the keys, you don’t control the coins”. Mt. Gox is an extreme example, but one that illustrates the importance of holding private keys. Gox was the first and largest Bitcoin exchange up until 2013. Thousands of users stored more than 800,000 bitcoins in their Gox accounts.
At the time, one may have claimed to have 1,000 bitcoins in a Gox account. While true at the time, as soon as Mt. Gox claimed to have been victim of theft users with bitcoins in their accounts were left empty handed. Services like Coinbase and Circle may in fact use good security practices and there’s a chance your bitcoins are safe. But by storing bitcoins with a third party you are always taking on additional risk.

I know little about custodial and noncustododial because custodial do not have private key, that is why I asked the question, thank you.

I registered on Patricia now, it is asking me of my bank details and bvn, that is where I stopped. This will be the last question, how many coins is Patricia is having? Is it better than remitano?

1xbet Alleged Scam
In recent times, participants of 1xbit campaign are given negative tags for promoting b1xbit. Some have link the company 1xbit with 1xbet as owned by the same person. Although there hasn't been sufficient evidence to prove this.
Here is the story.
Quote
There was chaos and unrest in Yaoundé, Cameroon recently after a man reportedly won 13 billion CFA Francs ($22 million) on 1xBet but wasn’t paid. It was gathered that the man played a bet with $350 (200,000 CFA Francs) and won the 13bn CFA Frans/22 million dollars, but, rather than pay him the money, the sports betting company allegedly closed and deleted his account.
When he visited the office to complain, they offered him
$687,000 (400 million CFA Francs).
He was said to have rejected it and demanded the original sum but the betting company reportedly refused.
The man went to inform people in his neighbourhood and
this provoked youths who then stormed the Sports betting centre.
It erupted into a riot as youths were said to have wielded weapons demanding that the man be paid his 13 billion
CFA Francs.

I was thinking of using this betting site before, all have been hearing about 1xbet on Nigeria comedians too, it is more rampant and more advertised than crypto exchange. Nigerias should be careful of 1xbit.

If we have nairabet, bet9ja, merrybet and many many Nigerian betting sites that are worthy trust, why should we use 1xbit. Do not use.

That their promo code and x2 return is making me to be afraid of the site 1xbit

It is good to do our own research we should not believe in others, advertisement has been a way to market businesses but advertisers do not know how legit the business is, they only advertise and get paid for the advert. Advertising is one of the ways scammers are getting happy today. I have only used nairabet, bet9ja and merrybet before after I make my research, 1xbet is not from Nigeria I can not use it. Nigeria has good betting sites, why people going to fake ones.

I was given 100% bonus when I register bet9ja, not only that but bet9ja is also giving me some bonuses, it is also good, it gives me most bonus. Nairabet and merry bet are hard to give bonus but all good in reputation. Thank you for also saying this.

About Patricia, it was an exchange based in Nigeria, but maybe this is true or a rumor, all I found out is that the exchange relocated to Estonia after CBN ban. The exchange is a custodial exchange and only supporting bitcoin and ethereum.

It exchange is poorly rated on Trustpilot, and not listed on Coinmarketcap which should be the first site to research about reputed crypto exchange (not implying their should not be further research because some exchanges listed on Coinmarketcap are shady). You can check comments about Patricia on Nairaland:

Patricia Is A Scam - Business - Nairaland

That was the first two threads I checked about the exchange on Nairaland and both are highly making Patricia discouraging. If comparing it to Remitano, I will prefer Remitano. For privacy, the best is to go for decentralized exchanges like Bisq, Hodlhold or Localcryptos, maintaining privacy is costly but actually is worth it. Also that decentralized exchanges are not having high trading volume unlike custodial exchanges.

90% of those peer 2 peer exchange dis Instagram comedian they advertise no dey safe to use. And for those wey try dey safe, their fees no be here especially Patricia. For the odas, If you watch out them no ever get sites as dem dey always refer to Instagram and you go dey here anyhow names. People fit easily create clone self scam you and even if the real accounts scam you, nothing you fit do.

Just stick to wetin dey popular and secure even though you go need do small KYC. E better than you go lose your money oh. Well the market dun cut people slip like Naira bet e come belike we dun enta bear or dun dey enter. How una think say the thing go play out  you fit use the poll above.

Incase you get mata you wan put for pull, just write am here and PM me, we fit dey do am weekly or biweekly so everybody fit use the poll feature.

Bitcoin is already at $46k but I don't think btc will fall below 40k support so therefore I cannot participate in the poll. This is a little correction btc has to undergo before breaking 60k resistance again. I'm still bullish even now. I suggest the price range should be adjusted for those of us that still believe btc will pump as fast

I mean for the bear market that's incoming or has already began. I no mean corrections matta.

My brother all this yannings our people don tell na vital. Wetin I go add be say e go better for you to use peer to peer buy crypto. We get iron hand cryptopreneurBrainboss exchange for the house. He dey too modest to tell you but me I get the update. BrainbossXchange na sure banker. I nor know why you wan go far to London when wetin you dey find dey your compound.

Omo! with the way things dey now, e be like we go enter the Bear market sooner than earlier anticipated because now too many negative things don dey now wey fit keep the market down for good for a long time. some of them include:

  • Omnicron - Covid-19 new varient
  • US Fed Inflation

I remember how covid-19 tank the market back in March 2020 and we fit see another similar effect if Omnicron come dey too serious since global trades among countries go stop and people go start withdrawing their assets if another stay-at-home go commence. But I just no dey too convinced say we don enter full-fledged bear market. I dey personally expect bitcoin to reach the optimistic target in early 2022. not this year again because people go most likely withdraw their assets and not make new investments. I personally know some of my friends wey don hedge to USDT and end all and any investment for this year until next year.

I too got no option than to choose below $40000 because it was the highest, I could be wrong but I wanted to choose above $50000 which I am predicting to be the support if the bear market does not continue. Some people may even decide to still go for $60000 just for the fun of it and how they are thinking bullish about bitcoin price.

Omo! with the way things dey now, e be like we go enter the Bear market sooner than earlier anticipated because now too many negative things don dey now wey fit keep the market down for good for a long time. some of them include:

  • Omnicron - Covid-19 new varient
  • US Fed Inflation
Covid 19's peak was never March 2020. During its peak, there was bull market. I do not consider covid 19 as the cause of bull or bear market.

US inflation? Agreed but dollar depreciating over short time period is not that obvious on bitcoin price, the reason bitcoin supposed to be around $8000 (₦3,080,000) sometimes ago in 2020, but instead was around $10000 (₦3,850,000) due to US inflation from 2010 to 2020 which was responsible for the $2000 (₦770,000) price difference.

Note: Naira at the time was around ₦385 to a dollar, I may not be accurate about dollar-to-naira conversion as some other factors may be considered to get the actual value in naira.

Happy Sunday everyone, I greet Muslims and others too.

This I want talk about make me not be happy, if this is local area we are still talk about dollar, we suppose to talk about naira, we can just talk small about dollar.

If ask anyone that what is bitcoin price, we will not think two times that it is between $45,000 to $50,000 but if ask in naira, we do not know where the price fall. Let us like naira and talk about it instead of only dollar. Relationship between naira and bitcoin.

@nelson4lov why is US inflation instead of nigeria inflation, we are in nigeria only naira we are spend. Let us respect what is from our country. @CryptopreneurBrainboss Sir I will like and happy to see naira also next time. I will like a question, I am wrong? I can be wrong.
