Leon is fighting Colby next and I don't think he'll keep that belt. So we're very likely to see Colby Vs. Chimaev for the next title bout, which would be perfect if you ask me.

This is a head shaking decision from uncle Dana after he promised that the winner of Belal vs. Burns would challenge Leon Edward. However, I speculate that American politics might have influenced this decision. Uncle Dana is an outspoken Trump supporter and Colby also is another ourspoken Trump supporter. The presidential election will be on November heheehe. Perfect for the UFC's campaign for Trump if Colby is the welterweight champion hehehehe.

You misquoted me, mate. It was @bittraffic's comment. It's not happening though since Chimaev is now a middleweight which means Usman is not just a late noticed opponent but he is also moving up in weight.

So yeah, it is Colby vs Leon at UFC  296 this coming December 17 in Las Vegas. Belal could be next in line. I guess this was expected even before that Colby gets his shot at the title if not for the Usman-Leon rematch.

It would be a great advertisement if Colby is a champion before the US elections next year. I believe the best of Colby is more than enough to beat Leon. The only good news for Leon here is Colby's nearly 2 years of inactivity.

I will actually say that Khamzat is currently a better fighter compared to Kamaru Usman. I will actually agree with @owengtam09 that Kamaru Usman is well past his prime days. So I don't think Usman is going to be the winner of this fight. But I will also not say that the fight is going to be one-sided. In my opinion, the fight is actually going to be close. But in no way I see Usman coming out as the winner from this fight. If I recall correctly he lost his last two fights. so that is definitely not something which will increase the confidence going up against Khamzat.

Firstly, Kamaru Usman is a great fighter. But as you have said before, maybe he is past his prime. They both also have a large age difference. Currently Usman is 36 years old and Khamzat is still 29 years old and the average fighter is considered to be in his prime when he is 30 years old. Age is not always a benchmark because there are still very great fighters over the age of 35, such as Texeira, Miocic or Jones. But not all fighters are blessed with a long prime, especially when they have experienced brutal defeats.

Secondly, Usman moved up to Middleweight (correct me if I'm wrong) which of course was a slight advantage for Chimaev because he didn't have to cut too much weight.

I have followed Khabib and Islam social media accounts and it looked they are not way near right now. I am sure that Islam will be with AKA gym guys only in his corner, with the one who helped him to train. Of course Khabib gave him a lot of support during calls, but I dont think he would be around. Because he trust Islam and in 100% sure in him. When Islams opponent was changed, Khabib and Islams team did not care much. Khabib simply told - "Islam is a champ, he must be ready for everyone. Without Khabib, I think Islam would have a little difficulty. What Khabib has is the ability to analyze the opponent's gaps and then exploit them to attack with his sambo wrestling. This was very visible when Islam vs Oliveira where Khabib gave advice to Islam several times so that the match ended in a submission. If I pay attention when doing a Takedown, Islam tries to bring his opponent into Khabib's corner to get some advice in the fight. And I'm hearing some talks swirling around that Volk just had a surgery done on his right hand which could mean that he hasn't been training as much and being in shape before he got the call from the UFC.  He was prolly offered a lot of money to take the fight and save the event.  :/  Now I'm thinking it could be an easier match up for Khabib's protege.

Looking at what happened in Izzy vs Strickland, an unexpected upset can also happen between Usman vs Khamzat.  This could probably happen if the fight does not end in 3rd round and restless Khamzat wears out.  Usman can last up to 5 rounds, this is his advantage. So yes he does have a big chance.

Its what Khamzat can do in the first round that will be worrisome and you can expect Khamzat will do his worst.

He does have more than 50% chance of winning the fight, I couldn't however bet for him since Chimaev can handle a fight. The only challenging fight we have seen so far from him was with Burns.

If you give Usman more than 50% chance and the payout rate is over x3, then you have yourself a great value bet right there.
I would see it as a 50/50 fight if Usman had more time to go through a full camp but given the short notice, I see him as an underdog.
I still can't imagine Chimaev just running over Usman in a 1st or 2nd round, like he did to many opponents in the past. He probably will take a win by decision.

I can surely agree with that because these two fighters are from the Welterweight and Khamzat Chimaev would surely fight Paulo Costa in the Middleweight but because of the injury Kamaru Usman will be the replacement fighter for sure because the fight was on the Middleweight Kamaru Usman will need to catch up his weight in the Middleweight so in a short time he needs to gain weight for sure

Will watch this later as I am busy right now if Alexander Volkanovski had an injury then this could be ugly in his part for sure even with the recent injury there is no excuses if he lost surely he is aware of that however with the given situation and advantage on Islam makhachev if Volk is surely injured then if Alexander Volkanovski still got this fight on a close call again, or even win the fight then for sure Alexander Volkanovski deserves that pound for pound top rank position in my opinion,

I guess UFC are too cautious to make such announcements. What if theoretically, one of them misses weight and match makers would have to urgently make card correction? It would be unfair for a fighter that fights in a catchweight to have his next fight as a title. We also dont know UFC plans on Izzy. What if they plan to return him the belt but to make it not as a rematch (as he recently got an immediate title fight rematch against Pereira), but after a win over Chimaev/Usman winner.

I remember that people complained that Islam was out stamina and his team helped him to stand, while Volk was ready for more rounds. But that does not prove anything. All these talks about was or was not robbed are bs for me. Talks that your were more fresh, opponent had more damage on the face and etc. I was always saying that no one should let judges decide your faith. Either win before time runs out or accept what judges scored. Volk can have 1001 excuse or reason why he had won that fight, but history shows that no one remember losers.

P.S. It might sound that I am protecting Islam or he is my favorite, but that is not. If there was someone else on his place or Volk has won and Islam started to tell why he would have won, I would still be in winner favor.

Dricus du Plessis deserves a title shot but it seems that Adesanya might get another privilege for an immediate rematch once again. Lol.  I think Volk is gon a get finished in the match.  Everything is lining up for him to get mauled or submitted...  As said, he's fighting on short notice, Khabib is gonna be in Makhachev's corner and he just had surgery on his right hand.  :/

And I wonder how much money is the UFC paying him.  In this episode of Embedded, Volk was talking about his family and that he needed to set them up for life.  Seems to me like he's going in there to get paid, not to win.
