no they say rig is 259

but if I had a gold or plat vs the bronze I would have the rig way under the 281 it is.

Does anyone know if the calculations for ETC on Whattomine are correct?  Looks like daily revenue is double.

wrong if you mine at viabtc eth pays far better.

Ive been mining into Nicehash for the last 6 months, is ViaBTC better?

Do you mine with NiceHash OS, NiceHash Miner or some other solution? I had issues running NiceHash OS on 3 different motherboards, I'm not a fan of their Windows based miner, so I was using SimpleMiner OS to mine which was giving me a lot of restarts and system crashes. I have no issues mining on Ethermine or ViaBTC (only mining there 24 hours so far).

I use nice hash with some xmd rigs and windows

I use simple miner and mine to viabtc.

when i use simple miner to nice hash my rigs would freeze and need hard boots to fix

they don't freeze much with viabtc.
also viabtc now pays at 0.2 eth vs 1.0 eth

I am very close to fully paying off my cards.

I am also selling the older cards

Thank you for the invite to this thread Philip, I see it's got about a billion posts in it, so I'll backpeddle a few screens and see if I can jump into the conversation without spending 3 months catching up on the whole thread LOL.

By way of introduction to the group, I'm Farns, and I'm relatively new to all this - by that I mean I've been reading/watching/listening for about a month, any information I can get my hands on, and contemplating setting up a little basement rack to try some mining.  Philip invited me here from the bitcoin mining forum to chat about mining alt coins with GPUs here.  I've been looking into that as well, and trying to understand the performance ratios of different cards, and coin possibilities of different cards, and thinking about resurrecting an old i7 mid-tower that's not been doing anything for a couple years and seeing if it can hold a couple new GPUs in it.  I'll try to crack that open this weekend and have a look.

I'm seriously considering making some investment into this in the coming year, but I'm working through my due-diligence on the subject.  Still tons to learn, but I've digested more information about crypto in the past month than in the past 10 years combined, and I'm fascinated by it all.  Looking forward to meeting you guys and seeing if this turns into something for me :-)

Mining since 1-19-21 :-)

thanks for stopping by.

If you tower works you can go cheap with 2 cards.

low cost  I have used ones for sale if you are usa based

https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=5295633.0
the evga 1660ti are okay and cheap from a good seller (me)

new they are 300 and a bit costly
https://www.newegg.com/evga-geforce-gtx-1660-ti-06g-p4-1667-kr/p/N82E16814487446?

they do 25-28mh each so 2 do 50mh which is about 50 x 3.2 cents = 1.60 a day you will burn about 350 watts or 8.4 watts a day

so 8.4 x 10 cents = 84 cents in power 1.60- .84 = 76 cents profit

so buying them new for 600 means  600/.76 = 789 days to break even
buying them used for 300 (from me) 300/.76 = 394 days to break even

other cards that are cheap that should be okay

new from newegg

https://www.newegg.com/asrock-radeon-rx-5500-xt-rx5500xt-cli-8g/p/N82E16814930039?

that is a 200 dollar card

it does 25-28mh and uses less power then the nvidia

so same 50 mh with 2 but power will be more like 250 watts for the rig or 6 kwatts or 60 cents at a dime

so 50 x 3.2 cents = 1.60 - 60 = 1 dollar a day

2 cards for 400/1 = 400days to break even

All of the above is based on your rig fitting 2 lessor cards in and 10 cent power.

2 used 1660ti   300 out of pocket buy from me
2 new 1660ti    600 out of pocket buy from newegg
2 new 5500      400 out of pocket buy from newegg
1 new 5700 xt is around 400 if you can find them

show us a photo or two of the tower you have

as a newbie you can not show a photo
use imgur make photo size 1600

post a link

https://i.imgur.com/dGP2AEE.jpg

same link once you are here for a while you can post this as photo

to see how it is done quote the page and you can see how it codes in

Running Nicehash Miner with PhoenixMiner after Claymore died.  Was using Blockchain drivers , but crashed too much, now use 18.6.1 on my 2017-18 era cards (580's, vegas). and run more stable than ever before.

So the question is, does it make sense to switch to Viabtc to mine Ethereum or just stay at NH and let if convert to BTC?

I would have stayed on nicehash but it simply had too many lock ups.

If you are getting nicehash to run may as well stay.

My viabtc goes to Coinbase and I just cash it out to pay all the bills.

My asics for btc are all hodl.

I concur, I would've stayed on NiceHash as well if I didn't have so many issues hashing over there. I personally mine to a wallet these days, not Coinbase (just my personal preference).

Right now I don’t think you guys will have too many issues since Nicehash has removed ETC mining. So if you are mining Daggerhashimito it will only mine one coin, ETH. So you will never get any reloading DAGs.

The issue I had in the past was when switching back and forth between ETC and ETH and dags kept crashing when new work was issued by nicehash. So I had to stop using it. However now the only possible DAG is ETH so you won’t get any switching even with new work. Yes it’s possible it’s some Ubiq coin but I don’t think anyone would rent hash at. 2x cost to mine those low cap coins.

Not going to touch these low density setup cards..when "can't get enough gpu syndrome" kicks in some people will ran out of space, thus limiting their max attainable hashrate LOL

I think we're headed to prebuilt systems being shucked for GPU's like last time.

Yeah, i remember some miner with 480s inside being sold as asic..didn't like it/didn't bought it.

If you can, it is always better to troubleshoot a system you assembled yourself. You know each part better hehe

speaking of density and troubleshooting...some of my p35 boards and ddr2 2gb died, imagine juggling through 3x 2gb RAM (mining ETH requires 6gb for both GPU ram and system ram to run on full hash speed) plus the board just to identify where is the fuck up...now just 1x 8gb ram on a h81 board eases things LOL....same thing with cards and risers and pcie slots hehe, so density is a good thing.

Well you did not want them but they sold out any way Grin Grin

Meanwhile I keep offering the 1000 series cards with not many takers.

They make about 500mh at 3.2 cents = 16  day pure profit for me until Jan 1 then my temp power deal ends.

I am keeping all card earnings 100% with no power cost until Jan 1.  At that point I drop to a 25% share of the coins with no power costs.

The nice thing is we have over 60 cards and over 2gh. So I will own 50% of  all the cards  outright no debt on any of them and make 25% of the coins with no outlays.

Better tech and more money spent tends to convert electricity to money better.

Sometimes spending more is earning more.

Some people can't fit 60 cards in their mining area, but with 3080's 25-30 cards..less than half of your cards will do the "over 2gh" hashrate.

There are always takers out there, for some it is for the better and for some it is not hehe
