I suspected this is what happened.
I managed to do it with a powercolor 5700 and an xfx 5700

I grabbed them on dec 26th and had to wait till Jan 10 or so to get them.

I think there are tiny windows of time when this can be done exactly what you did and what I did.

So you scored bro. You will get an early 3060.

let us know how good it is when you get it.

Went to amazon this afternoon looking for a 3080, and ended up with a 3060 for $389.  Sold by amazon, in stock on 2/25. tried to add another, but it would not, so probably 1 per customer.

So...  My current most up to date card was purchased in December 2017. (1080ti or Vega 64)

This should be interesting...

About 45mH is the consensus?

Nice.  I missed that by about 10 minutes.  None of the discords I am in posted it while it was live and I wasn't watching any twitter feeds sadly.

I don't think the link is live any more but I think the asin is B08WM28PVH and from the screen shots it was an EVGA one.

I grabbed a zotac 2060 last night on BH for $340 as a flip.  eBay prices are insanely high for all gpus.  It was a limit of 1 card and it went to discontinued after I got it.  Will see if it ships.

Ordered a couple ribbon PCIE risers as I think I can squeeze an additional card on 2 of my rigs.  I used to run 2 5700's in the rig I have my 3080 in but I don't want to heat it up so I am thinking I can use the riser to extend the new card out a bit and sell it come May or June when it's hot.

---snip---

then there are wicks that will finish you when you least expect it hehe

Learn to let go of oppurtunities instead of fomoing into liquidation.

A balance of patience fear/greed management helps.

Learn from mistakes, i mean learn thoroughly-watch the chart even after you lose money.

Anyway mining will keep you in touch with reality about how much/hard it is to earn 1 ETH.

For me..as we go past ATH i will be careful with leverage because wicks can get deeper and higher

https://cointelegraph.com/news/1-89-billion-liquidated-why-did-bitcoin-and-eth-price-correct-sharply-overnight

when reading some twitter posts about solutions in keeping sanity in trading.....no mention of crypto mining hehe

That makes sense.  It would have been nice if they had limited it to like 5 per account.  I saw a screen shot for an order of 20.

BTC and ETH have recovered pretty nicely.  That was a nice flash crash.

back in the days when crypto is trading spot only, it is easier to lose money in casinos than crypto.

now with leverage it is easier to lose money in crypto than casinos.

notice that casinos are properly/strategically placed inside buildings where you can easily see them-from restaurants, hotels and cards with membership etc. etc. even after you left the area in a far away road you see their huge lights tapping to your gambling gene LOL, i can swear they know the science and using it for their advantage. same thing with crypto now.

$1.89B was liquidated however the total open interest is something like $17B in total for all the future exchanges. I don't know if you guys ever traded on Bitmex but I remember that a few times in 2018 and 2019 the open interest peaked at $1B and that was as high as it would go and when OI was at $1B usually there was a massive crash shortly after.

Bitmex was the largest, so if you add the other small exchanges the total OI was maybe $1.25B, or $1.50B. I think OKEx was 2nd place in terms of futures volume back then. And that was pretty much it. Now you got a dozen or so exchanges and OI is nearing $20B. There is an insane amount of money in crypto now compared to just a year ago. One year ago OI was like $3.5B.

Compare Aug 2020 when BTC peaked at $12.5K, OI was $5B or so. There was a nasty crash all the way to $10K, and OI dropped by $2B or so. Now at almost $20B, if the flood gates open, how will these positions find an exit? It could get lucky.

Yeah that is why I am mostly just mining. I do not need to trade so I am not trading.

Anyone use the futures to hedge?  Hedeging can provide a coushin aganst falling priceses.  I just sold one month of minining in BTC short at 49,650, set my stop at 49550.  Small chance it will work but its cheap insurance.  I'll collect intrest and  add to my position if prices fall.

I'm going to put toghter some sort of system of hedging, long or short.  Also need to hedge aganst rising prices, mining equipment prices rise with crypto.

Yep they passed me this time.

I have 2 cards coming

https://www.evga.com/products/product.aspx?pn=24G-P5-3987-KR.

I got a good price from minefarmbuy for this one.  And it matches the same one I got from Newegg Shuffle.

this is coming from my Newegg Shuffle win last week.

I also have the omen rigs but of the five them only one is mine.

So 115+62+62= 239mh on the way

eth is still over 11 cents but it was as high as 13 cents an mh

the diff is growing like mad.

https://etherscan.io/chart/hashrate

it has grown from 293th to 397th

Jan 1 to Feb 14

That is a killer pace.

With the difficulty going up so much current purchases are going to take longer to ROI but now is the the time I worry how long this market will hold up.  At this point it's like winning a game trying to get a 3000 series card at retail pricing and when that happens it's hard to pass up though so I'll probably buy more cards if I get selected in the shuffle.

In a way the restrictions are likely what I need.

Being able to buy them with ease along with every else would push the diff up quicker. So The slow buying is likely helping me out.

I have room for 50 mobos and 40kwatts.
  I could  easily  add 150 3060ti's
  Or 150 5700's
  or 150 5600's
I don't have the cards. So I have zero idea what you are talking about.

No worthwhile card at even a 20% markup is available in bulk.

I wonder if Newegg is going to sell the 3060 cards via the shuffle as well or will it be free for all.
