Why would you sell an altcoin right at the very bottom

It makes no logical sense to sell an altcoin right at the very bottom of a market cycle.  Look I know its very painful to see that altcoin you love some much cause you so much grief, and not to mention checking your altcoin account balance looks like a scene from a horror movie.  But I am here to tell you, to hold strong, keep the faith and ride this altcoin storm as we are about to hit a very sweet spot in the market cycle where altcoins will explode in value.  Almost every altcoin is extremely oversold when comparing it to previous altcoin ATH (all time highs) and not to mention when comparing it to the bitcoin rally of late.

ATTENTION: We are about to enter altcoin season right at the very bottom, there will be some explosive move coming....Please hold firm.

Depends on the situation ... sometimes the very bottom is not the true bottom. But usually that is with low volume coins with no dev activity, etc.

What I don't get about the alt market, unless it's simply an issue of price manipulation, is overall movement --

BTC goes up, Alts go down in relation to BTC. Okay, that makes sense, and ideally alts move after BTC stabilizes.

BTC goes down, Alts go down in relation to BTC. This makes a little less sense, as logically one would think Alts would retain the same BTC ratio, or perhaps increase, to maintain their previous value. But okay, let's say BTC going down leads to panic sellers with Alts, so they too sell.

Now this is the part I don't get -- BTC goes up, Alts go down... followed by BTC going down, Alts go down... BTC goes up again, Alts go down, BTC retracts a little bit, Alts go down... BTC goes back to level before retracting, and Alts go down again. Basically the last 5 or 6 BTC price movements have led to Alts decreasing, regardless of which way BTC was moving. And the end result is BTC kind of where it started with the last rise, yet Alts lost a ton of value in relation to BTC price ... for kind of no logical reason.

So either it's price manipulation or Alt holders are so frantic and on edge that they'll sell no matter what... a slight breeze and they hit the sell button.

If you buy coins with strong fundamentals, you reduce the risk of getting stuck with shit coins. If you just buy whatever is pumping, the danger is much greater. And diversifying makes it possible to balance the risk, and focus on gaining more than you loose. There will almost always be some losses, you just need to gain more...
Everyone can’t make 20% gains every day. I’m not convinced that we have hit the absolute bottom with alts, at least when talking price relative to bitcoin. But I don’t see much of a downside either. Buying in now will get you coin at a bargain price, but it can still take a while before alt season hits. So, don’t buy and expect instant takeoff.

Why selling altcoins at the bottom? Because other people are doing it. So it is better to sell after a few profits. Being too greedy and you will see your profits evaporate and become loss. And you investment will become a forced long term investment. People are currently not interested about altcoins and that's why they are leaving altcoins. Only true believers are going to stay. Until there is only true believers, altcoins will continue to fall lower or stay at their current level. People are pumping BTC with their altcoins and that's very dangerous. As one day there will be a crash as usual.

People sell their coin for different reasons. Some urgently need money to take of their family and love ones while some want the money badly to pay for hospital bills. I have recently come across someone who was begging the dev to list the coin he was holding so that he can pay for cancer treatment. The same thing applies to other assets. Why do you think people sell their valuable assets such as cars, lands and houses to pay bills. Some even mortgage their properties and will do anything to see that it is not taken away from them. So next time you see someone that want to sell coin, don't blame them because you don't know what the person is going  through.

Sometimes people sell their tokens at very because they know that there are no tomorrow for the project.
Team might left the project and investors are not hearing anything from them.
It is good to sell low and accept the lose than to have your tokens holding still with no value to be left.

Largely because of lack of patient or probably project has fall really short in terms of development, internal conflicts among the teams that could pose a threat to the success of the project, probability of scam accusations etc, these reasons can compell anyone to sell their alts at the very bottom before the project go to zero,
But in the case of a dump in price only shouldn't be enough reason to sell because as long as that project is on track with development process then price will certainly increase in due time.

It is actually a very painful thing to continue holding altcoins while there is consistent extremely decrease in price value in the market.  As a matter of fact, most altcoins price value is dumping day in day out. It is appearing as if one should sell those coins at anyhow price and forget about them, but we need not to sell cheaply so fast. We should encourage ourselves to stay focus and keep holding for better profit. It may not be easy to do that but we just have to. Some of us have been holding some altcoins as far back as late last year. Don't let us give up at this point as we are almost getting to our place of abundance interms of profit. Let us still hold for a while and watch the market booming again for better output.

People start selling alt coin because they want to invest on bitcoin. They see the price of altcoin dropping when the price of bitcoin starts to rise. Even they don't want to miss the opportunity thus they even up selling their altcoin and jumps into bitcoin investment. They know they will be making more profit when they invest on bitcoin. Thus they start selling even when the price is at the very bottom. They know that they can always buy back their altcoins at even lower price.

That's right. I totally agree that we should not sell our altcoin now that it is on the bottom. Since we really invest our time and effort on it, we have to be very wise im handling our altcoin. It is true that we don't know if this is the bottom for all altcoins but the fact that it is below the ICO price, I think we need to wait until the price will rise up. Still there is a special case which depends on the hodler's need or decision. If he want to sell it and switch to. Bitcoin then that I think is reasonable enough now that Bitcoin is rising up.

Commonly, I will not sell my coins at the very bottom price because it will sometimes only give us the lost money and get a very small price.

There is no way you will sell your coins at the bottom.
I understand, when the market goes down (for altcoins) people will start to feel that it will going down more.. And they start panic selling their coins.
For me, we will just need to wait for a rebound on the market and sell on the high.

Sometimes there is logical sense and Many reasons can cause this, dev team might have left, coins not listed on a liquid exchange and hodler would be in need of money or a strategy to buy low buy starting the fire by selling low.

You will need a long time to do research from an altcoin that is really promising.
to avoid losses from the altcoin that I hold, I make sure when the developer will do the token listing or the exchange of crypto coins, there I will see the volume of crypto assets that I hold, within 24 hours I'm sure the price will go down, but if a dump occurs then as My investors will sell it when the price recovers, so choosing good coins is very necessary for long-term investments.

Any situations can encourage the user to get rid of one or another altcoin.  A lot of different information appears in the network, including negative, which immediately sends the owner of altcoin to the exchange for sale.

Why do you think now is a very bottom? Alts could decrease for another few months before they recover.

However, some bad projects might not recover at all so it's better to sell now if you hold s**t coins, as they still worth something.
