Sourav Ganguly first gig turning out to be good for Test cricket so far, he left no stone unturned for this. Inviting Bangladesh's Hon. PM Sheikh Hasina along with first test team of Bangladesh. i really hope after this he will take care of spectators concerns regarding stadium facilities etc.

This will be great. He is trying to create some buzz around. I guess the match will be full of visitors. Well, he will certainly take care of everything, he was a good sportsman after all.

That 281 by VVS Laxman was against one of the best bowling attacks of that time. And it will be difficult to believe that it came during the 3rd innings. India followed on after getting all-out for 171 in the first innings, but then made 657/7 in the next innings. Laxman and Dravid had a 5th wicket partnership of 376 runs, against a bowling attack that consisted of McGrath, Gillespie and Warne.

I don't know who is managing the board but them have to think about it . I still recall the time when they had Akmal, Misbah, Younis..such fine players. If things remain like this, they will likely by left out with capable bowlers only and only be relying on them rather than on inexperienced batsman in future.

This is big and it seems really good for cricket. But in the ground if there are no competition then everything will fade away. I hope Bangladesh will give a good fight.

For sure, we needed this test match to between the two big teams and not like a one sided dull match. There are very few day and night test matches and we want them to be trilling. As I remember the last day&night test match happened from 24 to 28 January 2019 in Brisbane. This match was also one sided and Australia won by an innings and some 40 odd runs.

Okay I was wrong about 5 match Test match series. It was 3 match Test series and the first one won by Australia and they were ahead. The only reliable method to attract the crowd is to make sure that the matches are not one-sided. People may be attracted by the concept of Day/Night test matches, but the curiosity will not remain forever. Here are some of my suggestions:

1. Remove the concept of toss. The visiting team will decide which side will bat first.

Some of your suggestions make a lot of sense and I partially agree with you though I doubt ICC will implement any of these steps since they already would have if they wanted to and some of your suggestions are way too complicated.

Example : Points 2 and 4 are not practical since players should decide when and where they wish to play(Complete freedom) and team schedules are planned several years in advance which is why they cannot simply change them for certain teams.

6th wicket down now, have to say very bad decision from ground and third umpire. it was clearly no ball from pat Cummins but umpire gave Mohammad Rizwan out anyway. what's the use of technology if you still not going to use it correctly,

This has been a problem for sometime now. The frequency of bad decisions keeps increasing with time and I blame ICC for this. Majority of the decisions given by the umpires these days are so messed up that I feel like the viewers can do a better job in comparison.

Seriously, I'm starting to lose interest in cricket due to such decisions. It's time ICC get the umpires replaced by the robots.

I am not expecting that the umpires will be replaced by robots anytime soon, for every dismissals the on field umpire takes the third umpire can verify in a few seconds and report it to the on field umpire whether it is a no ball or not or a catch being completed as the third umpire have the help of the technology and that is the logical solution that having the umpires replaced by robots .

Its now up to the Pakistan bowlers to keep them in the game as a total of 240 runs isn't a good total batting first on this pitch every though it did seem to favour the bowlers. I'm expecting Australia to score at least 400+ runs on this pitch and if they do then they might only need to bat once in this match but time will tell on how well Pakistan bowl.

New Zealand is back in the match and it is great to see the comeback as New Zealand dropped a couple of chances yesterday which were costly and now England lost some quick wickets and now they scored 328 loosing 8 wickets, Jos Buttler is still in the crease and if he can score some quick runs then they can post a total above 350 runs which is pretty decent consider the quick loss of wickets and the match depends on the New Zealand batsman now, if they can score some big runs then they can put England under pressure in their second innings.

David Warner wants to shake off his struggling days in the Ashes and he is back in prime form and he is targeting a huge score, a smooth century partnership in the opening wicket and still carrying on, bad luck for the Pakistani bowlers as they will be bowling for 6 sessions until the Australians decide to declare the innings .

New Zealand lost their second wicket as Leach threw his wicket away by going for a shot in the air which was unwarranted as England planned as they packed the leg side field and Pope took a good catch and now two of their most experienced batsman are at the crease and Kane Williamson and Ross Taylor are their main stay and if the England pacer bowlers could create problems often and have the patience they can put pressure on the batsman.

Australia is batting really well and they might score over 240 runs even without loosing a wicket, hard time to be a Pakistani bowler with the way in which both the Australian openers are batting  .

So BCCI is inaugurating the day night Test match with a bang and there is a reason for that, if the match could attract the audience interest which they are looking for and it will become a grand success in the grant scheme of things then we might see day night matches quite often and their main focal point will be TRP rating and stadium audience.

All tickets are sold already for first 4 days.

Imagine if this was in between Australia and India :-D

Too bad it isnt. anyway i am expecting both teams to play a D/N test against each others soon.

Kolkatta has a 100 year old history in sports after all, be it cricket or football. Bangladesh is broken team atm but i am not sure if we are heading towards another one sided game or not.

Australia is batting really well and they might score over 240 runs even without loosing a wicket, hard time to be a Pakistani bowler with the way in which both the Australian openers are batting  .

Pitch looking dead to me, no sign of reverse swing et all so far. all pakistani seamers struggling atm, their best bet is Oz batsmen make some mistakes othewise they are on mercy of batsmen.
