I would say that Zimbabwe has wasted a golden chance to get a test victory to their name. They should have scored runs quickly and declared the innings by the end of second session. There is nothing wrong in taking risks. Zimbabwe has lost too many matches and another loss would have made hardly any difference. But there was also a rare chance of a win. They didn't took that risk, and went for the draw. I am fed up with their attitude.

If not for the bad weather Zimbabwe would have won the test match but they are not having the confidence to take risk and sent the Sri Lanka batsman to chase a small total and they are not having the freedom to score some quick runs, it the responsibility of the captain to take these decisions and it is really disappointing as they could have attacked Sri Lanka to chase a decent target in the final day rather than playing the entire 4th day.

Sri Lanka is playing for the draw and the rain interruption has helped them if not we would have seen a result as Sri Lanka could have gone for the win or Zimbabwe could have bowled out Sri Lanka looking for the win. Zimbabwe will be more than happy to hold on to a draw when they could have increased the run rate and put Sri Lanka to bat in the 4th day itself but they delayed the declaration even with rain interruption.

The cricket fans who purchased tickets for 4th and 5th days of the test match should be allowed free entry to this match. In this way, the board can earn more revenue, and no one will complain about the wastage of time.

I don't think any suggestion like this is going to be accepted by any board or player because its not going to happen they need to contact with insurrance companies hopefully this could be better for them as now these insureance companies can give money if test match is going end in 3 days and if 4 then they will give also something from 5th day.

Well Zimbabwe had their chance to win the match but their bowlers were just not good enough and couldn't continue on from the first innings. To be honest I think climate change is a load of bs and people need to stop blaming climate change for things. My grandfather said that the weather was a lot hotter back in his day then it is now and I can even prove that the sea was more inland then it is now so climate change is just made up to control the masses. Zimbabwe were just not good enough to win even though they had a big chance, simple as that.

They didn't picked Kyle Jarvis for this match, and it had a negative impact on their bowling capabilities. All of their bowlers were inexperiened and this was reflected in the Sri Lankan second innings. The absence of a quality spinner is being felt, and I believe that the board should try to bring back Graeme Cremer (he relocated to the UAE last year).

Only if ICC and Cricket Board has any crystal ball in their bags, then there is a chance they can apply this in reality.

There is thingy called FTP ( Future Tour Program) this process fix the fixtures for 2-3 years in advance. who to play, when, where and how many games....

@Vishnu.Reang while this match may have ended in a draw I felt that the Zimbabwean team will be able to draw lots of positivity from this fixture, as they almost came close to winning this test match. Also I’ll second your concern regarding the weather, because so many matches gets washed out due to poor planning from the ICC.

Zimbabwe had a good side a decade back and not anymore, i cannot find a good bowler in the side and they are undergoing political problems for a very long time and it is not going to end anytime soon as the world police is not interested in countries without any wealth   .  In the last match they could have won the match if weather was in their favor and if they could have scored some quick runs, their captain needs to take aggressive positions if they want to win and since they are lacking confidence they want to contain the match rather than winning.

And the white population there declined from 296,000 (in 1975) to 28,000 (as per 2012 Census). The current population may be even lower. Now you can't expect 28,000 people to form a cricket team and beat teams such as India and Pakistan, who have populations in excess of 1 billion and 100 million respectively. The new president (Emmerson Mnangagwa) has promised to bring back the white farmers, but I don't think that anyone will return to that country now.

I am not aware of the census or the white population in Zimbabwe as majority left or forced to leave everything behind because of the political situation and you cannot expect anyone to return in that state of political climate.

Zimbabwe and SL are two such team where after the legends of the game retired they just could not manage to have the replacement players on to the par of those who left . At one time Zimbabwe had Flower brothers , Heath Steak , Olonga etc and after that they don’t had the players of those likes which is creating the problem and same is the case with Sri Lanka team as well.

If you are talking about population it does not mean that the amount of people will make a difference, you need to have an interest for the game and if you have the talent you will get selected, China has the biggest population and they do not have a cricket team  .

I agree. I am just saying that it will be too much to ask for 28,000 people to create a cricket team, which can take on a country such as India (population of close to 1.4 billion). There was some effort from the Zimbabwe board to spread cricket to the indigenous population. But they are considering it as a career option, rather than as a pure sport. There have been some good black players in the past (such as Henry Olonga and Tatenda Taibu), but few are getting noticed now.
