It should be a real test of characters and the players as both team are the best in their own way and with return of form of Warner the OZ team will also put up the best fight against the good NZ pacers attack. It should be a real fun and exciting cricketing days ahead.

New Zealand is one of the teams that has improved their quality of the game over the past few years. Perhaps they are the only team outside the Big 3 to have managed that. Although a part of the credit should be given to South African-born players who now plays for New Zealand (Neil Wagner, Colin de Grandhomme, BJ Watling.etc). I give 50/50 chance to NZ to win this series against Australia.

This New Zealand team has a big chance to win a test series in Australia as they have the right mix in their team for Australian conditions so we should see a close fought series between the two teams.

New Zealand always perform well at home. They will give a tough fight to the Australians, if all of their bowlers are fit (including Trent Boult, Colin de Grandhomme and Lockie Ferguson). They will be full of confidence after their recent series victory against England and I would even say that they have a slight advantage against the Australians. BTW, I would like to see Ferguson in the starting XI (probably in place of Henry).

Your statement sounds likes New Zealand is hosting Australia? but its away series for Kiwis.

Both Boult and Grandhomme are looking fit for this series and part of the test squad. if they both are fit to play then Henry might sit out because he is basically replacement of Boult, unless you are talking about Henry Nicholls? Ferguson still waiting for test debut so his chances are dim, lets see.

If the series was in NewZealand i would have given 50- 50 chance to NZ team because they always play well at home. But since the series is at Australia and seeing the current performance of their team against Pakistan, i will  bet on Aussies to dominate the series. Anyhow the matches will surely be worth watching.

The way in which the Australian batsman is playing right now with Warner in prime form and Smith continuing his form it will be a hard battle for New Zealand and they are having some injury scare and it will be a close series but i am going with Australia to win the series, the first Test is a day night match and it will be interesting to see the bowlers dominating with the pink ball and how batsman will cope with the swing.

Oh... my bad. It's an away series for NZ and the matches will be played at Perth, Sydney and Melbourne. I heard that Boult has recovered completely from his injury. So the bowling lineup for NZ will be Boult/Southee/Henry with Santner as the spin bowler (I am assuming that Colin de Grandhomme will be the 5th bowler who doubles up as an all rounder). I would like to see Lockie Ferguson instead of Matt Henry. Both are bowlers with good pace, but Lockie is faster by a mile or two. Or they should play them both for the first test(D/N), since the WACA pitch is one of the most pace-friendly surfaces in the world.

It will be a great series as several of the New Zealand players who had injures are recovering well and it will be a great contest but with Australia in great form i am expecting them to win the series but it will be a closely contested series as both teams are in great form with the bat and the ball and the Trent Boult and Colin de Grandhomme are recovering from injury and we will see whether they can perform well and Kane Williamson is also recovering from injury and on the other hand Australia does not have any injury scare.

Australian players are in top form and I’m expecting them to unleash everything they have on Newzeland players which will make life more difficult for the visitors hence I too am expecting Australia to win this series. Who else here is excited to see the duels between NewZeland batman’s and Australian bowlers in the day and night test match, because I have a hunch that Australia’s bowlers will pick 20 wickets and wrap the match quickly.

If Boult and Grandhomme are available for the game then Ferguson's place looks dicey for the first game. I am sure they would like to go with extra batsman for the middle order.

-Openers : Tom Latham and  Jeet Raval
-Ist/2nd Down : Williamson, Ross Taylor
-Middle order : Henry Nicholls and one extra batsman
-All rounders (lower Middle order) : Santner {Spin-Bat} and Grandhomme {Seam+Bat}
-Seam bowlers (Tail): Southee, Neil Wagner, Trent Boult

Look like its good side but away from home they are not good enough I am going with Australia they have some good players and all are in good touch this could be very big advantage still we can hope this is going to be very interesting series.

The series between Australia and New Zealand are always competitive and earlier Australia used to dominate every team but for a while they lost to India in their home soil and now they have bounced back and started performing well after the return of Steven Smith and Warner after suspension and the series depends upon which team is able to pick 20 wickets, both New Zealand and Australia have in form batsman and hence the bowlers are crucial to determine the fate of the series.

Ranji Trophy tournament (Indian 4-day domestic competition) got underway yesterday, and there were some notable performances in the first day itself. Rex Singh of Manipur took 8/22 against Mizoram and he was batting unbeaten on 58 at stumps. Ravichandran Ashwin bowled 21 overs in a single spell, to finish with figures of 1/68 against Karnataka. Robin Uthappa scored a century for Kerala, against Delhi.

And there was some unbelievable stuff going on in Dharamsala. Himachal Pradesh was bowled out for 120 by Saurashtra (Unadkat, Jani, Mankad - 3 wickets apiece), but HP fought back hard and at stumps Saurashtra were reeling at 93/7 (both Vaibhav Arora and Pankaj Jaiswal taking 3 wickets apart).

Australia is almost unbeatable at home. What India did was something unbelievable. But now I don't think that New Zealand stand a chance, because all the Australian players seems to be in good form. In addition to Steve Smith, players such as David Warner and Marnus Labuschagne are scoring well. And Mitchell Starc and Pat Cummins seems to be on peak form.

Good to hear that, i did not know that Robin Uthappa was playing for Kerala in Ranji trophy as he was playing for Bangalore earlier even though he was basically from Kerala, i guess this is the first day and it is not that disappointing to see Ashwin not getting much purchase in the first day but the pitch will start helping the spinners by the third day.

Does anyone bets on Ranji Trophy matches too? I think they are too boring and unpopular to bet on? But would love to know from anyone about how they place their bets in such matches and what are their strategies because I think most of the players are unknown and quite inconsistent too.

Australia is in great form but they were facing Pakistan and the rest of the batsman failed against England except Smith and hence i am really looking forward for this series as New Zealand too have some good bowlers and it will be a good battle between the bat and ball and what kind of pitch they will be preparing for the series is another interesting factor.

That match (Karnataka vs Tamil Nadu) is probably the most exciting Ranji Trophy match ongoing right now. We have a number of star players appearing in that match, including Mayank Agarwal and Karun Nair for Karnataka and Murali Vijay, Vijay Shankar, Dinesh Karthik and Ravichandran Ashwin appearing for TN. And it looks as if Karnataka is having an advantage.

I am sure there are betting lines for Ranji trophy matches, you could see betting lines for private cricket tournament in major sports book and if you see those betting lines then it will be a surprise if Ranji matches does not have betting lines. I have not placed a bet in these tournaments but serious gamblers will be looking at these tournaments to make money as it is easily to manipulate these matches than international matches .

I completely agree with what you said. Right now there is a lot of controversy surrounding a match fixing scandal involving the Karnataka Premier League (KPL). Some of the players have been arrested (Nishanth Singh Shekhawat, CM Gautam and Abrar Kazi) for match fixing and many more are being investigated. These players are very vulnerable, as their salaries are really low.

I was not aware about the match fixing scandal in KPL, the reason i said about small tournaments being vulnerable is because big time gamblers who are wagging millions of dollars could easily manipulate these small tournaments because the fixing issue was prominent in the international matches during the early 2000 and if they are able to do that why not manipulate the small tournaments.

Tomorrow we have the first test between Pakistan and Srilanka, i have no idea how both these team will perform, any prediction for the match.
