Personally I liked how Barcelona played today as don't get me wrong but Barcelona game has circled around Messi for 11 years now so it's normal to see another style of game. The important thing is that they won and players felt good between them on the pitch so this gives positives vibes for a Barcelona fan which I'm not but still , I'm happy to see Barcelona playing good after Messi era. Also still a lot of games ahead of us.

Same here. I've said for at least two seasons already that we need to prepare for life without Messi, and the huge loss to Anfield already was the loud alarm bell that the club just continued to ignore.

I also said I hoped we do lose badly last season in every competition so that the club continues to focus on a rebuild instead of delaying it. I guess with Messi gone there is nothing to hold back a total rebuild.

It would be incredible to see how the boys rebuild themselves and then again reach the heights of success. La Liga should be a challenging league and a club with a winning record will help boost their performance. Their starting is nice, and they have good chances of winning the upcoming matches.

We know that after the departure of Messi from Barcelona has suffered a lot of big losses, indeed at the beginning there must have been a little influence, but as time went on, Barcelona was able to build its team again to be bigger after the messi era came out.
With a pretty impressive early win from Braithwaite's 2 goals, it looks like he will be the new idol in Barcelona after a good performance during the full game, so a sign that Barcelona still has a striker they can rely on.

this time barcelona played as a team instead of relying on individuals.
indeed for the last few years the tiki taka barcelon has looked lacking and it seems as if Barcelona are relying on messi.
but for this year they are required to be able to change this and it is time for barcelona to throw away the image that barca can't be without messi.
Even though the memories are too many and the titles are also obtained very much but now proof must be created whether Barcelona can get out of Messi's shadow or not.

I'm liking match day 1 already with only one match that went goalless so far. Of course I want to see great defense too but I still prefer lots of goals. I'm pretty sure it's what pump most of the fans as well. I'm looking forward to more attacking football and less "parking the bus" style of play this season.

After winning my bet thanks to Barça I'll try to play all the amount on Elche Athletic Bilbao.
Athletic Bilbao comes from an interesting preseason, in which they beat Southampton, Borussia Dortmund and Dinamo Kiev in friendly matches and drew against Liverpool. In the debut match Marcelino won't be able to count on Unai Simon and on the disqualified Raul Garcia.
Nonetheless I think Bilbao can win this game and my bet is gonna be draw or away!

The first week of the season was really productive for the biggest favourite teams of the La Liga title.

People were really curious about what Barcelona were going to do in their first game without Lionel Messi. To be honest, I was expecting them to struggle a lot against a strong team like Real Sociedad. But I must admit that they really surprised me with their solid performance. They managed to defeat Sociedad 4-2 and had a really good start. Braithwaite was awesome that he got 2 goals and 1 assist.

Real Madrid also defeated their opponent Alaves 4-1. People were curious about whether they would have a problem on beating them. But Benzema played really great and had a big role on this victory. He scored 2 goals. It was really nice to watch a trio like Bale - Benzema - Hazard. They can do a great work in the rest of the season.

Atletico Madrid also succeeded in beating Celta Vigo 2-1 away. But I can't say that Atletico Madrid played so great. They still managed to get a win with the goals of A. Correa. It's a great start for him.

Barcelona showed today they can win without Messi as well. Real Sociedad is not a bad team, they finished in 5th position last season. I was expecting a more challenging game for Barcelona but they found three goals and finished the game early. Real Sociedad tried to come up with Cienfuegos and Oyarzabal but Sergi Roberto made sure there won't be any surprise today. Braithwaite was criticized a lot when he first came in but now he has a chance to show off his skills. He scored only 2 goals in 29 league games last year but today he scored 2 goals already in one match.

First of all, it is Barcelona's home match. All the teams are a bit stronger on their own field. Secondly, I believe Real Sociedad is a good team. But Real Sociedad has not won their last 10 matches against Barcelona. In the last 10 matches, they have managed to draw only 2 matches against Barcelona. This means that they are always weak against Barcelona. If you look at the performance of a few more matches, you can understand how strong Barcelona is now.

Barcelona have a good roster, even without Messi. So don't worry too much. Perhaps there will be difficulties in the Champions League, but in LaLiga there is a chance of becoming a champion. Of course, you should not judge the strength of the team in the first match, but I think Real Madrid and Barcelona will be all right.

If Mbappe comes to Real Madrid, we could see a competitive La Liga. Real Madrid's situation is not good now, they have lost experienced defenders who have been with the team for a long time. Filling their voids is impossible at the moment. Real's coach is experienced. He will probably fight for the title with this team. But I don't think any team in La Liga has the potential to win the Champions League.

I don't argue with your opinion but I don't find the right basis that the quality of Barcelona's players is lower than other teams e.g. Man united, Chelsea and Man city the quality of the players is almost the same even from the selling price. Especially for PSG, yes, it's a team of stars, because they are still free to collect expensive players in one team without any rules like what happened in LaLiga.

Barcelona did have a good squad despite the absence of Messi, and they proved that in their match against Real Sociedad. Braithwaite scored two goals. Celta Vigo gave Atletico Madrid a hard time, but Atletico still manage to win the match. While Sevilla really prepared for Real Vallecano, they won in both halves, although, Vallecano got a red card 16 minutes in the match, which affected their performance.
Villarreal, who lost the Super Cup trophy to Chelsea, will be playing their first La Liga season match against Granada. I think the match is a win or draw for Villarreal, Granada is not a weak team and It won't be easy beating them.

I do not know what people expected to begin with. I mean surely Messi is a great player, but did people really considered Barcelona a team that was horrible without him? Dude is great and all but that is unfair to every other player in that team.

I feel like they are going to get even better, this was just one move and yes Messi is gone and depay is there but I feel like they are going to get better and better each year, they realized that financially they can't keep this up so from now on they are going to finally be smart about their finances and they are going to make so many transfers accordingly which means that a team that is already good and wins games easily, will end up being even better in the future. This whole Messi deal was a sad thing emotionally for them, but I do not think that it is really that bad for them in the long run.

Benzema did well, they played well even I'm pretty sure with Alaba. He appeared quite disciplined and made assists. I don't regret the departure of Ramos when I look at Alaba's performance. Maybe Alaves are still weak enough to win against Madrid. Although the first half they were able to hold the score 0-0, the second half they were increasingly depressed. Madrid even appear dominant and make goals with not too long.

You can't conclude that after just one match day. We might be in for some surprises this season though the top 3 teams seem to always come at the top most of the time but I prefer waiting until towards the end of the season

This week, Barcelona are going to play another tough game this time against Ath Bilbao away. They started really well by destroying Real Sociedad 4-2 although there is no Messi anymore. So, I see that they were actually really good and they can win this game also. But Bilbao won't let them win this one easily I think. They are not a team to be underestimated. Barcelona hardly managed to defeat them 3-2 away in the last season. We may see a similar scenario here again.

It was actually an unexpected result for me. Because I would expect Villarreal to win this game 1-0 in the worst case. They are definitely a better team than Granada now. We saw their effort against Chelsea in the UEFA Super Cup game also. They must be sad also for getting a result like this. They played better but there was no goal.

It's all just emotions. It's just that the whole team's game was built around Messi, so the fans reacted with great concern to the fact of the player's departure. I think one or two of the next seasons will still look at the Barcelona game from an angle, and what would happen if Messi remained in the team, especially if there are local failures. There is no escape from this, and only a successful game can make such conversations subside. The most important advantage of this situation is that the players will have more incentives to stand out with their game and increase personal responsibility for the result, because before that everyone remained in the shadow of Messi's game and all the laurels were deservedly and sometimes undeservedly given to him.

I don't regret the departure of Ramos when I look at Alaba's performance. Maybe Alaves are still weak enough to win against Madrid.

By the way, Alaba played not in Ramos's position in the first match. He replaced Marcelo's position, so we cannot compare it. Nacho and Militao who played as central defenders, look quite solid in that match. But I think we cannot determine how good Real Madrid defense is in this match since Alaves is still a weak team. Villarreal are actually not a bad team in this league. And they played not badly against Granada in this match. But they were clumsy when it comes to finding the net. And like you said, it was a boring game as Elche v A. Bilbao and Osasuna v Espanyol all of which ended 0-0. But it is the La Liga. We can't expect all the games to be fun.

The inaugural Laliga match has ended and all team have played one match each. And as usual these 5 team are always seeded in Laliga and I think they almost dominate Laliga every season. Real Madrid, Atletico Madrid, Barcelona and 2 other team managed to win their first match perfectly and it is a different start to the season than usual in Laliga because Ramos and Messi are not there and they are already one team in Paris.
