I think they should be able to take advantage of this match very well, it is an opportunity for them to win again after failing in the last 3 matches they played. I thought this season was going to be for Girona,but they have given up on the tittle race for Madrid.They didn't know they would be able to get to the position they are now,and it also seems they aren't bothered about whether they win the league or not,what they now think mostly about is playing European football,they are quite sure that they can play the champions league.

I do think Carlo Ancelotti is doing all these to protect the lad he should understand or perish.

For Atletico after the lose to Inter Milan. They'd be with tired legs against Almeria during the weekend,  I'm suspecting them to lose that game. And same goes to Las Palmas who should also lose to Osasuna.

I knew Girona would find it difficult to defeat Atletico Bilbao yesterday and it became more harder when the home team scored first. They are known to be very defensive that's why if you manage to see an opening, take it without wasting chances. Girona struggled in that game and it got me wondering how they were able to beat other teams before they met Real Madrid because normally, Girona even though they are a goal or two down, you'd notice that they'd keep fighting toll they get the three points but it was obvious Atletico Bilbao had done their homework and decided to lock shop after the second goal was gotten by the visitors.

Really happy to hear Girona lost. This means Madrid's points gap is still quite big. If you look at this match, I give a bad score to Girona's defense. First half mistakes allowed Athletic Club to score a quick goal, which put Girona under mental pressure. The 3rd goal was also the fault of Girona's defense. So if Girona hadn't made this mistake they probably would have won or at least drawn and got 1 point.

Barcelona will host Getafe at home.It is likely to be a difficult match for Barcelona.Getafe need to get points from their matches now to qualify for the European Cups and they will not give up easily.Barcelona's falling behind in the championship race may have discouraged them, but nothing is clear yet.It is an important match for both teams and we can expect a match with plenty of goals.
Atletico Madrid, on the other hand, will play away against Almeria.Although Almeria increased their points to 8 with the draws they got in the last 2 weeks, I must say that their chances of staying in the league have diminished.Atletico Madrid will not want to lose more points and will want to win as they have a chance to at least close the gap of 11 points with Real Madrid in the league.If they had beaten Sevilla before Las Palmas, maybe it would be different now, at least they would have equalized their points with Barcelona.

Girona has a great opportunity to go to the Champions League next season, provided that they have to maintain their game until the end of the season lest the negative results in their last 3 matches continue, because if they cannot rise then they will sooner or later be displaced from their current position or even they will be knocked out of the top 4, because in 5th place occupied by Atletico Bilbao, they are also waiting for the team above them to slip, including Girona.

I think you are too confident to say that Real Madrid will never lose again until the end of the season. There are too many things that you forget about the possibility of a match, but I'm not surprised because in all probability you are a fan who absolutely does not want to see Real Madrid lose. There are 13 matches yet to be played and some of them are tough matches which could still result in Real Madrid losing points. You talk as if competition from other clubs does not exist at all. In a non-competitive environment you can develop like this in a parabolic fashion, but in reality it doesn’t work. Every season one of the ordinary clubs takes off, but the most difficult task is not to continue to progress, but to at least maintain what has already been achieved. Look at Union Berlin, look at Newcastle. The same thing will happen to Girona next season, I am 90% sure of it.

Newcastle is a different story than Union Berlin by miles and miles and miles. They are playing in the Premier League and even an investor doesn't guarantee that they can out of nowhere compete with Manchester City and Liverpool and yet they are 8th in the Premier League at the moment and I don't deem their drop in performance that significant. It is clearly a drop, but not comparable to Union Berlin.

Girona is owned by Guariola's brother in part at least and they have an investor group backing them up. I am not sure what they are going to do at the end of the season and especially during the transfer period, but I don't see a 90% chance that they would end up like Union Berlin. You provided quite a stretch as to how much a club can drop from the previous season.

I agree with you that real Madrid is already the winner of this Spanish La Liga because there performance and points difference is very clear so there is no way any club can challenge real Madrid on the first position now, however it was Girona that had the opportunity to stand as a threat to real Madrid but they lost the privilege the moment they lose there match against Athletic club, so perhaps right now the only position they should really focus on now is to maintain the second position but if they failed to be consistent then Barcelona will take over the second position, so perhaps they still have good opportunity to secure themselves a very good reputation.

Girona priority is to secure a ticket to appear in the Champions League next season, if they are lucky they will continue to pressure Madrid in the remaining matches in the future.
