I am talking with the guys at the other pool (PMP Mining...MAZA solo) One of the operators thinks it may be because of ASIC boost enabled in the S19 and MAZA isn't compatible with asic boost, rather than the miner being a problem.
They have noticed other 100+TH miners that didn't hit blocks either and they thought it was a dual algorithm thing, but now are thinking asic boost issues ... got me   Embarrassed

? So it can I spin up a  local CKpool  on the test net to check my miner or is there a ckpool  instance already up somewhere for test-net testing?

I just don't want to run for years on solo ckpool  and then realize the miner doesn't report found blocks...
running solo on bitcoin is bad enough without that complication

I've been a 19 for months, do I have to get ready? If there is a mistake, I'll leave it mining in a pool... thank you very much

Whatever issue Gholly reported probably has to do with outdated pool code that doesn't support ASICboost (although, I always thought those T15 had Asicboost enabled by default so why did they work fine?). Some people would argue that certain miners might not be able to find shares large enough for a block and thus getting valid shares on the pool doesn't necessarily mean they can hit a block(they even block firmware that were not proven to find blocks), but then again, finding blocks on the testnet doesn't mean the miner is capable of hitting a block on the mainnet either.

TL;DR

Is your hashrate reporting fine on CKsolo pool? if so -- you are good to go, there is nothing more you can do.

Yes My Hashrate is reporting fine on CKpool... it was reporting hashrate and shares on the other pool as well but I wasn't finding Solo blocks with the S19 but was with the T15 (only one hash board)... I was only worried if something was wrong with the S19 ... The other pool (mining MAZA solo)when missing a 5 cent block isn't a big thing but it make me curious if it was only that coin/pool or if something more neferious was afoot.
I think I will spin up a CKpool on test net and see if it works on bitcoin solo.
I appreciate all the help and suggestions.... Does the miner report a found block? ... or does pool code realize its a found block from the shares reported?

Blockparty 54 is over and here are the planing for the next Blockparty Run 55

You can write here or in the german / englisch mixed main topic here --> https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=5479444.0

And for all other small USB Miner / Bitaxe Miner or all other, please have a look at our short solo groupe here --> https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=5478927.0 or the englisch and german mixed master topic here https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=5477020.0

################

Hello all,

let's go to the next group buy from Hashingpower.

As already requested by some forum users I put a new group buy for solo mining. Start at the earliest after the next diff reduction.

~15-18 users for each 0.005 BTC, 0.01 BTC or more BTC can participate. A higher number is not useful, otherwise a possible profit will be much too small.
If smaller amounts than the minimum amount are allowed in a single case, then the calculation of the rewards will be based on the amount of BTC deposited.
Hashingpower is rented on Nicehash and shot on the solo pool.
The status of the group run can be observed during the runtime via the Live View link.
Here you can see what our hashingpower is and what our highest share / bestshare is.

If a block is found, the reward will be paid out to the participants.

Lets go and let us find a block

In the past we had found 10 blocks --> 193 BTC!
Block list: 385022, 394940, 394946, 395087, 396941, 399709, 401934, 706369, 712217, 780525

Those who want to participate send their BTC to the following address bc1qlpd45688hce39lusur8sdnuzy3z2dx4uvrgpkt and post their participation with the following template:

Please send your coins only if there is still a place available.

To make it a little easier in the new year, I've decided to do the reservations differently.
In the new year there are reservations possible for people who pay for 2, 5, 10, ... block party runs in front.
If the quota is exhausted, the place will be automatically free and someone else can use the place.

Specifically, we start with the Blockparty Run 2022-1 and if someone sends 20x 0.01 BTC at the first time, he is practically permanent until the Blockparty Run 20.
If someone joins the Blockparty Run 2022-7 and sends 10x 0.01 BTC, he will be a member until Blockparty Run 17.
This simplifies the organization and places are not permanently taken by the same people, unless someone sends 50x 0.01 BTC for the 50 planned Runs.

If we should not create at the end 2023 the Runs, for which someone already paid, the last Run in 2023 all payments are used around longer to run.

As long as open slots are available the coins can be sent at any time without an OK from me

Of course there is no guarantee that we will find a block, but it would be mega if we repeat the runs until we find one!
Should something happen like: Nicehash account hacked, deposit address in forum post hacked, BTC sent to a wrong address, etc. no compensation for the loss will be provided. Everyone takes this risk or does not participate in the block party if they do not agree with it. However, I assure that everything will be done with the highest care as before.

Newb here.. had my s19 pro 100t on here for a four days. best share 6 billion. Plugged in the old s9 and within 20 minutes had a best share of 28 billion. Put the big boy back on a pool but gunna let the lil guy ride it out for while here on solo ck. Not sure what to think of how difficult it is to mine a block now, it seems a lot harder than say 2022, when btc total hashrate was about half of what it is today. Still feels nice to have the small guy on the lottery side. As Wayne Gretzky says you miss every shot you don't take  Cheesy

the total hashrate of the network has nothing in common with your mining luck. You are not competing with other miners. However I wish you best of luck  Cool

Yeah but I think he was more talking about total hashrate increasing = higher diff, so longer to find a block with the same hashrate given on average

Hotsaucer, you can check with this tool : https://solochance.com/ but as difficulty is constantly increasing, and halving will happen in ~16,800 blocks, the result will inevitably be vague. At the end it is just random and it is useless to try to predict anything with solo mining

Good luck  Smiley

citb0in and paid2, the two of you are correct, it is so annoying lol, I would imagine someone who doesn't understand how mining works would really struggle to understand the difference between the two statements you both made despite both being perfectly correct.

I really think the simplest way to explain all this would be to imagine yourself hunting in the dark, the number of bullets you shoot is always the same (your miner's hashrate), and the number of animals you are trying to shoot also doesn't change "blocks per time unit", the number of bullets other hunters shoot doesn't directly affect your chances to hunt something "more network hashrate doesn't mean your hashrate is suddenly worth less since every bullet has the exact same chances of hitting a target as any other bullet", but eventually, every now and then, those animals "blocks" becomes smaller in size and thus harder to hit "difficulty increase".

Which means; if you want to maintain the same chances of hitting one of those animals' "blocks" you will need to up your fire rate "hashrate". The smaller the animals get, the more bullets you would need to keep the same chances.

the total hashrate of the network has nothing in common with your mining luck. You are not competing with other miners. However I wish you best of luck  Cool

well that is true for about 2015 blocks in a row. then the average hash rate that made those 2015 blocks and the next block 1 mean something as that will set the next difficulty number making the next 2015 blocks either harder or easier to hit.

Ie a constant hashrate for the entire network would tend to keep the difficulty very flat up or down 2 %

but less miners and less hash rate would drop the difficulty a lot and make blocks easier.

I am 6ph/480,000ph so I have 1/80,000 of all the miners in the world.

if the worlds ph goes upwards and onwards the diff goes upwards and onwards and I may have

6ph/540,000ph or 1/90,000 of the worlds hash  and it is harder to hit a block once the higher hash is shown on the next difficulty.

so 80,000/144= a 555.55 to 1 shot if I mine solo for a day

but

90,000/144 = a 625 to 1 shot if the diff went up and I mine solo for a day.
