Next Blockparty Run 66 is in planning. You can post here or in the eng/german mixed topic here https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=5497340.0

And for all other small USB Miner / Bitaxe Miner or all other, please have a look at our short solo groupe here --> https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=5478927.0 or the englisch and german mixed master topic here https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=5477020.0

##########################################

Hello all,

let's go to the next group buy from Hashingpower.

As already requested by some forum users I put a new group buy for solo mining. Start at the earliest after the next diff reduction.

~10-20 users for each 0.005 BTC, 0.01 BTC or more BTC can participate (smaller amounts are also welcome). A higher number is not useful, otherwise a possible profit will be much too small.
If smaller amounts than the minimum amount are allowed in a single case, then the calculation of the rewards will be based on the amount of BTC deposited.
Hashingpower is rented on Nicehash and shot on the solo pool.
The status of the group run can be observed during the runtime via the Live View link.
Here you can see what our hashingpower is and what our highest share / bestshare is.

If a block is found, the reward will be paid out to the participants.

In the past we had found 10 blocks --> 193 BTC!
Block list: 385022, 394940, 394946, 395087, 396941, 399709, 401934, 706369, 712217, 780525

Those who want to participate send their BTC to the following address bc1qlpd45688hce39lusur8sdnuzy3z2dx4uvrgpkt and post their participation with the following template:

Please send your coins only if there is still a place available.

To make it a little easier in the new year, I've decided to do the reservations differently.
In the new year there are reservations possible for people who pay for 2, 5, 10, ... block party runs in front.
If the quota is exhausted, the place will be automatically free and someone else can use the place.

Specifically, we start with the Blockparty Run 2022-1 and if someone sends 20x 0.01 BTC at the first time, he is practically permanent until the Blockparty Run 20.
If someone joins the Blockparty Run 2022-7 and sends 10x 0.01 BTC, he will be a member until Blockparty Run 17.
This simplifies the organization and places are not permanently taken by the same people, unless someone sends 50x 0.01 BTC for the 50 planned Runs.

If we should not create at the end 2023 the Runs, for which someone already paid, the last Run in 2023 all payments are used around longer to run.

As long as open slots are available the coins can be sent at any time without an OK from me

Of course there is no guarantee that we will find a block, but it would be mega if we repeat the runs until we find one!
Should something happen like: Nicehash account hacked, deposit address in forum post hacked, BTC sent to a wrong address, etc. no compensation for the loss will be provided. Everyone takes this risk or does not participate in the block party if they do not agree with it. However, I assure that everything will be done with the highest care as before.

Hey all, are calculations on solochance.com currently accurate? I've noticed a substantial drop in the estimated time to find a block but haven't seen a large drop in total network hashrate to explain the drop. Thoughts?

The pool server is down

It seems to be running fine at the moment.

I did notice a dropout at around 17:45 for a few minutes, looks like the pool is OK probably some network issue somewhere.

I've always wondered how each ASIC guesses the solution to a block.  Like if I had 2 ASICs, 1 very powerful and 1 very weak, do they both start at the same hash and continue incrementing up until a solution is found?  If that were the case, the weaker ASIC would never find the solution, so surely that isn't how it works.

So if both of the ASICs are making different random guesses, what controls the guesses?  In other words, how is each ASIC choosing what to input in the hashing function to see if it hashes into the correct solution to the block?

I don't even know if I'm explaining myself clearly for anyone to even understand me lol I'm sure I'm saying something wrong...but if anyone is able to make sense out of that question, and are able to answer, I would be most grateful!

I've often wondered the same thing, what determines the starting nonce for each chip?

In a system with more than one chip in a chain, how is the workload distributed across the chain of chips, or is each chip given its own starting nonce at random?

If its a random selection for each chip what's to stop two overlapping nonces or a nonce that has already been scanned? Which would reduce the efficiency of a miner

Does the pool determine starting nonce for each share? If it does what's to stop it preferentially issuing shares to faster miners or what is to stop it from duplication of nonces issued?

Without really digging into the guts of both the miner control software and the pool server software, it is difficult to find an answer.

The mining hardware gets a base of work that it can send off unique starting work to trillions of hashing units. Unless the hardware is a broken design there is zero chance of their work overlapping. Speed is irrelevant, every single hash unit operates on its own independently.

Hi -ck

Thanks for the response.

Arguably, isnt it the miner software that issues starting nonce to an ASIC, not hardware.

So while a pool may issue a base of work to the miner software, the miner software must surely determine if that base of work is followed and what starting nonce to issue to an ASIC.

Which means the miner software must track what nonce's it has issued from the base of work that would be sent to an ASIC in order to prevent overlap or rehashing from a previously used nonce.

I've dug through the code of CGMiner to try and understand how the work is issued, but it is a very complex piece of software with little in the way of code level documentation making it quite hard to understand the program flow.

Thanks for your help, just trying to make sense of the flow of work.
