I must have been half asleep when I wrote my last post.

What I meant to write was:  The Eels have a BYE this week which means they get two point and progress to 30 points which SHOULD on paper give them the 8th spot.  THEN depending on the game play IF the three teams Roosters, Cowboys and Rabbitohs do NOT win their games, then the Eels SHOULD claim eighth spot.

However,

In saying that I've gone back and restudied the match ups.  Both the Rabbitohs and Roosters are playing. One has to win, or they tie, so they either both get a point for a tie, or one or the other gets two points.  The cowboys are up against the Panthers, so it's almost unlikely they will win.  Souths are currently $ 1.85 while the Roosters are at $ 1.95 which is almost too close to call.  I'm going with the Roosters given their late improvement in game play (and seven or eight wins in a row)

The Dolphins ^{in 14th place on the ladder} have had a tonne of money poured onto them this round - they are $ 1.60 while the Warriors ^{in third place on the ladder} are at $ 2.35.  You would imagine the Dolphins aren't going to win, but the betting is favouring them.


I was lucky enough to see all three games on Saturday - The Storm decimated the Titans, The Roosters and Tigers by the 50th minute were getting stand off ish against their opponents and by the 65th minute, there was a lot of jersey grabbing with close proximity words exchanged.  In the final game, the Broncos simply out played the Raiders with better opportunities and ducking into gaps to run away and score.  The Sharks may well do the same thing against the Raiders this weekend in the last game of the regular season.


If the Broncs win against the Storm they win the Minor premiership.  If they loose as does the Panthers, they still win.  If the Broncos loose, but the Panthers win, then the Panthers win on points.

Well now, just when we thought it was going to work out for the Broncos they only went
and got beaten by the Storm! 22-32 that pretty much puts an end to their claim to top spot.
The Panthers are not going to be beaten by the Cowboys.

Next game - sea Eagles v Wests Tigers, I'm going with the Sea Eagles too @ 1.22

Following that I'm going with the Rabbitohs over the Roosters @ 1.84, I know they
have had a real misex bag this season but I think they will be desperate to hold that magic
8th spot.

Yea its interesting to see Argentina favoured ahead of both Scotland and Wales and
Argentina are definitely progressing but it will take a few years for them to be contenders
for a big title. Playing Australia, South Africa and New Sealand regularly will definitely help.

Anyway I like Argentinian Rugby so I hope they do well.

Traditionally we under achieve in the WC I have a feeling this year it will be different,
we have the potential to win the title and our first game against Romania should go
ok for us. Ireland are currently 1.002 v 17.0 !

Yes, they have had horrible losses, yes their last game was shite, and yes I read the news claiming this is the weakest side yet.

But in football, we say teams with experience are "royalty" of competitions and no matter their form, they are always favourites when facing teams who haven't won a comp (France, in this case).

France have been building up to this WC and have really improved as a TEAM, they have
fantastic players but their weakness could be playing at home. If things dont go according
to plan their supporters can give them a hard time, so there is massive pressure there.

You are right about NZ, they are not the team they were and dont have the same quality
of players in some positions as they once had.

Personally I'll go with France, they will have to make a big statement with this opening game...

As regards royalty.....South Africa are entitled to that royalty tag too in terms of WC's won.

Yes, for me its in "normal" houts the more early game of group phase its gonna be against Japan, and its at 8.00 AM, the other ones are at 10 AM 12AM and 16 PM. So yes.

Yes, Ireland has had some good wins recently (IIRC) as have Argentina, so it's going to make for some thrilling clashes against some of the powerhouses e.g. NZ and France to name a couple.

The New Zealand national competitions wrapped up a few weeks ago, so the team selectors have numerous players to choose from who have honed their game play over a full season.

League Australian NRL

So from the last round last week the Panthers got top spot and I think it was the Roosters
who kept the Rabbitohs out of the top 8 and managed to get in themselves, I could be wrong.

So finals week 1 of 4 this weekend and its 2nd v 3rd Broncos v Storm, I'm going with
the Broncos, a rematch of last weeks fixture and revenge time for the Broncos . . . hopefully

1st v 4th Panthers v Warriors, Its going to be the Panthers

6th v 7th Sharks v Roosters, IDK I'm not betting on that, it will probably be the Sharks

5th v 8th Knights v Raiders, only based on ladder position I will back the Knights.
