OMG, we were waaay too optimistic, it was a slaughter house today, Roosters only
scoring 6 points and the Sea Eagles running riot with 42 points.

even with full strength against a weakened team it just goes to show that squad
depth is important, replacements need to be really close to 1st choice players.

Australia v South Africa again this weekend in the Rugby Championship, after their
hammering last weekend its interesting to see SA favourites again, I have
them to win (this time)

My money is on the Panthers winning tonight, but the Eels may just have a boil over like last night's game.

Next week, the Rabbitohs face-off against the Sea Eagles (I'm leaning towards the Sea Eagles for that game) while The Storm will face off against whoever wins tonight.

Well the local media got it right, I on the other hand believed what Sportsbet were
showing me regarding odds. Australia did great to take a second win, here is a

and by doing so have toppled SA from the their #1 world ranking.

Australia are still in 3rd spot on the table with 9 points behind SA on 10 and NZ on 20.


League

That was a tough battle between The Eels and Panthers and a very low scoring game,
I too had The Panthers to win which was good because I also had The Roosters and
South Africa too. Final score 8 - 6.

I managed to catch the last twenty minutes of the League game on the radio - It was definately a tough match and could have gone either way.  Fortunately, I had money on the Panthers and the Australians to win their respective games.



The Eels were definitely in with a chance and the commentators were ready to call it for the Eels until about 90 seconds before ful time when the Eels player dropped the bal and enabled the Panthers to take possession and hold on to it for the last minute.

Next week see the Storm and Panthers face-off in a replay (a week early) of their Grand Final match from last year where the Storm won.

and if they were both in the final I would be very very happy!

In the other "semi final" next weekend its Rabbitohs v Sea Eagles, I think the outright winner
will come from the other semi!

I'm expecting the Sea Eagles will move to the Grand final as their game play has come together over the last six weeks whereas the Rabbitohs have had some unforced errors and might loose their nerve.

The Storm Vs Panthers game is going to be close.I'm hoping the Panthers win (that's where my money is for that game - (last time I looked) you can still get 5.0 for the Panthers to win the series)

A new Pro14 rebranded competition starts tomorrow, THE UNITED RUGBY CHAMPIONSHIP.

16 teams compete from 5 countries, South Africa, Italy, wales, Scotland and Ireland.
Last year in the Pro14 there were 2 teams from SA, this year there are 4, The Bulls,
Stormers, Sharks and Lions.

The South Sydney Rabbitohs are into yet another grand-final with their 36 - 16 win against the Manly Sea Eagles.



I've been out all evening and haven't been able to get a chance to review the game, but the score tells a tale of the Sea Eagles didn't make the grade on the night.  (I really thought their game had come together over the last four to six weeks - especially last week's thrashing of the Roosters 42 - 6).

Tomorrow we see whether the Storm or Panthers go head to head next week in the Grand Final.

I put a bet on The Sea Eagles to win when I woke up this morning and lying in bed,
and I was a bit miffed that the Rabbitohs won...until I checked on Sportsbet, I actually
placed my bet on the Rabbitohs in error ( a bit of luck there )

Tomorrows match should be a cracker, probably a low scoring affair and close. I'm
not betting on it.

Next season, I thought I might keep a tally of how many I get right/wrong over the course of the season.  Plus, I'll have to give Union a bit more attention in the thread than I have this year.

and while I missed the first few rounds have been betting on all rounds.

I have both the Panthers and Storm to win the final so hopefully either can beat the Rabbitohs.

Two of the Irish sides were in action last night in the United Championship, Connacht and Ulster,
Connacht were beaten by Cardiff playing at home. Ulster though had a good night beating
the Glasgow warriors. I broke my own rule and had a bet on Ulster as they were and are
tipped for good things this season.

Leinster and Munster the other 2 sides will be playing today. Leinster who have owned this
tournament winning 8 times in the competitions different formats. They have an unknown
competitor to overcome tonight, The Bulls from South Africa are in town.

The 4 SA sides are the same sides who competed in the Super Rugby Competition with
teams from Australia, New Zealand, Argentina and Japan I think.

Ill be betting on Leinster.

Toulon lost, Racing Metro 92 won, Wellington lost against Hawke's Bay, Canterbury won (I'd be surprised if they didn't) against Southland, Manawatu won against Northland, Tasman lost against Waikato,

I had a nice little win on the Panthers who are into their second Grand Final in a row and looking to score a rare back-to-back win next weekend.



I can't put any money on the Panther's or the Rabbitohs unless it's a points spread, so I'm just going with my previous "to win the series" for the Panthers.  ( #MissBlueBonnet says she fancies the Rabbitohs to win).

two of the best sides this year. ATM The Panthers are favourite to win the final at 1.62 - 2.26 for The Rabbitohs.

Toulon lost to Perpignan while Burleigh won over South's Logan in their game.

I've just put 0.1 mbtc on the Panthers ( $ 1.63 ) to win next weekend over the Rabbitohs ($ 2.22 - I'm very surprised they got to the grand-final).



New Zealand continues to be in the lead on 24 points after five rounds.  Argentina are yet to score a point and you'd have to think any more games putting money against them would be a fairly good bet.

I havent been paying any attention to the French Top14, Toulon are a good team
as are Perpignon. Hmm I must check out the match ups for next weekend there.

In the United Championship Lenister, Munster and Ulster won their matches. Leinster
was kind of expected, In a match which I thought was going to be close is was a
total mismatch, final score 31 - 3. I suspect that a lot of key players for the SA
sides are engaged in the Rugby Championship down under.

And speaking of the RC I am surprised with South Africa and Australia really that
there is such a difference between them and NZ. And for Argentina to fail to score
any points is remarkable.


League

I think I'll do the same with The Panthers, a second bet on them beating The Rabbitohs...

Is there really anything for South Africa to play for in the next Rugby Championship match next Saturday? They can only end up with the second place behind the All Blacks ... because the All Blacks are too far ahead.... and then the Australians has to lose against Argentina without any Bonus points. 

So my money is going to be on the All Blacks to win the last match in the tournament and for South Africa to stay in the 3rd position. It is sad to see a World Cup team, being beaten and losing their #1 position on the World rankings.

Both the All Blacks and the Springboks put in a solid game - more so when they go head to head with each-other.  I'm putting money on The All Blacks to win.  Hopefully it isn't a ruse on the part of the Springboks to hold back a little until the end.

The championship is over really, NZ win and back in #1 spot again, its really about 2nd
spot now for the last round.

South Africa have closest to beating New Zealand in this competition yesterday by narrowly
losing by 17 - 19 so they have a chance to beat them next week but I wouldnt be putting Satoshi's
on it TBH.

Argentina will be really trying to win their last match purely to get points on the board but Australia
will not want to let 2nd spot slip away to SA.

The NRL grand final is going ahead in Brisbane, despite Queensland's latest COVID-19 scare, with a final decision about the event expected to be announced on the day.

Townsville is in place if needed as a back-up venue, but the NRL's head of football Graham Annesley said today there were no active plans to move the match north.

Australia’s rugby union Test on Saturday is in doubt after eight members of the visiting Argentina took a day trip from Queensland to Byron Bay, NSW, according to a report in the Courier-Mail.

The paper says the players include captain Julian Montoya and they are “understood to have crossed the border with two staff members – including the team manager – on Wednesday”.

The paper says the party were trying to return to their Gold Coast training base on Wednesday night when they were stopped by police and refused entry to Queensland.

“The players and staff spent last night in a hotel in Kingscliff as the dispute escalated into an international incident,” it was reported.

“Queensland Health reinstated the so-called border bubble for Tweed Heads and Byron Bay from 1am on Wednesday.

“But this means residents of the shires and Queenslanders travelling to these areas can only cross the border for work, education, compassionate care and essential shopping.”

Australia was due to name its lteam later Thursday for the match scheduled for Saturday afternoon on the Gold Coast.
