Yes, the Broncos stared down the Eels. I wasn't able to watch it, however, the NRL.com website is saying the Eels gave the Broncos a scare which is what I also thought given they (Eels) went all the way to the Grand final last year.

Next up, the Sharks and Knights will teach the Bulldogs and Cowboys how to score tries.

I have a $ on the Knights @ 2.37, Can the Cowboys pick up their season or are they in

Currently it is looking like the Sharks are likely winners, its only 22" gone and its 8-16.

Union - URC

Just looking at the odds for todays games in the final round of the URC and Leinster
are a massive 5.0 away to 7th placed Vodacom Bulls in South Africa. They have been
there last week and beat the Lions by 3 points. Its a kind of second tier Leinster team
which is there, meaning there are no experienced current internationals in the squad,
Its a great opportunity for a $ bet on the team which is unbeaten in both the URC and
Heineken Cup this season...

I've also gone another $ on a +11.5 handicap on them @2.11

The Sharks mauled the Bulldogs 33 - 20 while after twenty minutes the second game is tied at 6 - 6 .  A long way to go for tonight's game with the Cowboys taking first blood in Townsville.

Cowboys v Knights - that looks to have been an epic battle of sorts with the Cowboys coming
out on top 18-16 and scoring the last points of the game in the 66th minute - with the remaining
14 attack/defend by both!

Re: Vodacom Bulls v Leinster - The bookies had their odds correct, the Bulls were indeed worth
their favourite status winning by a whopping 62 - 7.

Cant understand who that Leinster team can beat the Lions last week and not show up yesterday.

That makes me five from six games so far this week. Tomorrow there are two games in remembrance of the countless soldiers who died in the Great War.

The 25^th of April is referred to as ANZAC Day when Australian and New Zealand armed forces landed on Turkish beaches. In Australia, (and to a lesser degree New Zealand), it is seen as an abject failure (to take the Peninsula) however, I disagree. While the taking of the Peninsula was the ultimate goal, the main objective was to hinder and keep the Turkish forces bogged down so they couldn't be deployed elsewhere. For that I believe it was a successful campaign, just the families at home have turned it into something more than it was.

Attiturk is famous for protecting the dead who are now buried in war cemetaries. Something that to my knowledge hadn't been done in previous wars.

I know of ANZAC day but would know the exact details of it. I do know the brutality and
seemingly senseless and massive loss of life in the great war overall, wouldnt you think
it would have served as an example how not to resolve differences?

As an aside I used to watch "The Sullivans" growing up. (set around WWII)

For tuesdays games I'm thinking Roosters and Storm but I'm not sure I'll make those

Union European Champions Cup Rugby

This weekend we have the Semi-Finals of the Heineken Champions Cup. Its possible
there could be an all French final although I think the chances are slim.



I am picking the two home sides Leinster and La Rochelle and I will probably put a
bet on Leinster for the title before the game at the weekend.


League NRL

First game of R9, Sharks devour the Cowboys 44-6, I dont get it, there was literally
no contest, Cowboys scored 1 converted try on the 34th minute. I missed it altogether
and I wonder what the odds were on the Sharks??

I seem to have missed placing a wager on the Sharks (probably because of the school holiday Thursday night game), but they would have been the team I would have picked.

In about six hours I'll get all my best down for the week.

I see where you were going with a bet on the Knights v the Eels but unfortunately the Eels
showed up and hammered the knights. I stayed away from that one and was actually thinking
of betting against the Rabbitohs, luckily I refrained, the Rabbitohs did a big job on the Broncos.

I'm going with the Sea Eagles against the Titans at 1.52 and a -18.5 handicap on the Panthers,
I know, I know - I did say before I wouldnt to it again but its the only way to get a bit of value out
of the Panthers, odds are 2.12

OMG - what a messed up season this has proven to be this year! My two bets are
totally lost, Titans beating the Sea Eagles and Wests Tigers beating the Panthers.

Looking at the ladder and looking at the season so far its really open, no one team are
absolutely definitively booking their place in the finals, different to last year really.


Union Heineken Cup

First semi final took place today and as I suspected and hoped and backed Leinster
overcame Toulouse 44-21. There was talk before the game that it could have been closer
due to some key players for Leinster out with injury. This result shows the depth of talent in
the squad.

European Champions Cup Rugby (Heineken Cup)

Second semi final went with the game favourites La Rochelle, they beat Exeter
Chiefs 47-28 to set up a replay of 2022 final with Leinster.

That final went the way of the French side, 21-24. That final was played in France, this
the final will take place in Ireland, this year should be Leinsters. I have them to win
this title.

Was that the 64-0 win over France in the mid season internationals? That is some
hammering. Is France that bad and are England that good? I dont know anything
about international Rugby League.


Union United Rugby Championship.

The Quarter Finals get under was on Friday with two Irish teams facing off Ulster
v Connacht. Tis is a home game for Ulster and they are big favourites for this at 1.22
against Connacht 4.1. I would love to see Connacht win this but I think its a big ask.

The other quarter finals are:

Stormers v Bulls
Leinster v Sharks
Warriors v Munster

Leinster are unbackable at 1.07.
I think I'll bet on Ulster, Stormers and Munster.

It's the so called "Magic Round" - Round ten of the 2023 NRL Season kicks off in Brisbane tonight with all eight games being played at Lang Park here in Brisbane.

The Wests Tigers are even with the Dragons at $1.88 each (a far cry from last week when they paid out nearly $7)  Saint George are languishing near the bottom of the ladder, so I'm going with the Tigers who are riding high after their first win last week.

The only two "upsets" will be if the Warriors and Dolphins win their matches.  I feel confident they will.

Big big win this evening by the underdogs Connacht playing away to Ulster, the #2 team
on the table. I actually didnt get my bet placed, when I listened to some Rugby
pundits today they all fancied Ulster but that Connacht would run them close,
so I had decided to go with Connacht but the game was t listed 🤷

Rugby League NRL Australia

Last 3 games of Round 10 played today with IMO 3 unlikely winners.

Wests Tigers 18 - 16 Dragons (ok so they are both bottom of the ladder)

Roosters 6 - 20 Cowboys (really fancied the Roosters for this draw and for
the Cowboys to be mediocre this round, thats my bet gone.)

Titans 26 - 24 (Titans continue their hold on the top half of the ladder, I was going
to go with the Eels thinking they have to start making a move to the top half...
not this round.)

I think the Eels are now in a rut whereas the Titans had a slump. This year has had many surprises with the Dolphins shaking things up.

I'm not surprised the Dolphins won. (Now six wins and four losses) the Broncos are eight and two with a long way to go before September.

The Tigers likewise had a morale booster with their win last week against the Grand finalist Panthers and now this week's win. Very reminiscent of last year they won two in a row after six or seven losses.

The dragons are now 2501:1 to win the minor premiership compared to the Tigers 1000:1
