Well as regards players, "high tackles" are punished in Rugby Union (dont know about League)
with either a Yellow Card (10 minutes in the Sin Bin) or Red Card (Immediate sending off and
banning of further games)

I know the new competition Pro14 Rainbow Cup is trialling different rules for yellow and red
cards but thats a seperate matter and I would have to look them up again.

As regards player welfare, a player who suffers an injury is removed for HIA assessment
and is deemed to be able to carry on playing or not. If not the player is monitored in the
"Return to play protocol" and is further assessed as to whether he can play sooner or later.

So player welfare is probably top of the list of concerns for  all in Rugby and high tackles
are really punished, (when detected properly)


@TheNineClub from your earlier post you say you are in the Balkans, Romania
have a strong Rugby tradition and I think they are in the top 20 world rankings (Rugby Union)

In relation to Australia and New Zealand there is the long running comparison
between Northern and Southern Hemisphere playing styles, im not sure how
different they are these days but for sure New Zealand whenever playing draw
a lot of interest, it is their #1 sport after all.

I am in Ireland and we have a strong Rugby (union) tradition here eventhough its the 3rd or
4th most popular sport here.

Some fun facts, we have the oldest club in the world which is still in existence
and one of the oldest Rugby grounds in the world was Landsdown Road, now The Aviva Stadium.

I honestly did not know that about Romania, I will definitely check it out. However, Rugby is still not at the level it should be in this region, and not even from the player quality, but more from the support from the local government, cities, and even the small amount of fans. Sad to see.

There is great odds on the Rabbitohs because of their only loss in 8 games against Storm as you say, I'm they are not going to relinquish 3rd place on the table, way too much at stake with this game for them, for all 5 at the top end if the table really.

I'm beginning to think a couple of my other pics later in the week are also going to come unraveled in much the same way.  This year has been such a skewered season with half the teams totally blitzing the other half and yet two of the top teams come together and it's a Cluster Fk!

and watched the press conference with the Rabbitohs coach, he kinda
mentioned that a defeat was coming based on their last few matches
even though they won them.

I don't know too much about Croatia (except for it's troubled past & it's love of soccer).  It's only natural that games such as Rugby, Soccer and Cricket are an integral part of life in the British Isles (and in the Commonwealth Countries as well).  I'm in Australia and every one are "Cricket Tragics".

The Rabbitoh's are coached by Wayne Bennett who for some twenty years coached the Brisbane Broncos which meant I heared nothing but how wonderful he is (rolls eyes) given I live in South East Queensland...

Like the Broncos under Bennett, once the team starts to crumble, it's a sand castle falling apart.  I don't think the Rabbitohs will do any good after this.

popular games in countries colonised by the English but of course Ireland gained
FULL independence from England in 1937 so we no longer view ourselves as being

Cricket is not that popular here but we do have a very competitive national team.

Oh and just to add Soccer and Rugby are also very popular in countries outside the
commonwealth and in countries who were not colonised by England, notably France !!!

Tomorrow is a big day:  Three NRL games along with both the Australian and New Zealand finals of the Rugby Union seasons.

We have it in the Six Nations championship every year with Italy, they
are always beaten in every game, there may be an exception some
years, they might win a game. But every year they are able to score
against the top tier teams.


In the PRO14 Rainbow Cup Sportsbet.io listed up the games for this weekend
last night! I put two bets on the Sharks [South Africa] and Leinster [Ireland]
I have 1 of 2 so far, Leinster are still playing and ahead.

Probably just as well - at half time the Broncos were ahead and I thought they would cement their leed early in the second half.  But, all they ended up doing was chassing the ball around and watched first a try & conversion then a field goal (which has become a thing this season for teams to do).






Union Australia:

In Union both the Canterbury Crusaders (24 - 13 ) and the Queensland Reds ( 19 - 16 ) won their respective finals
 





Starting next week there is a whole season of Trans Tasman matches.



I'm not as familiar with the teams, but I'm going to take a stab in the dark and say the Reds, Waratahs, Crusaders, Blues and the Chiefs - probably in close games.

Super Rugby Trans-Tasman is an upcoming professional men's rugby union club competition in Australia and New Zealand. It will feature the five Super Rugby AU teams playing the five Super Rugby Aotearoa teams, followed by a final, and will run from 14 May to 19 June 2021.

Has there ever been a tournament like this before across the two countries clubs?

The British and Irish Lions tour are away to South Africa this year. First game on 26th June.

There will be 8 matches played, 3 against the South Africa national team and 3 against clubs.

It will be interesting to see how they get on against the World Cup Champions and
current No.1 world ranking team.

Yeah, but the 45th placing is not all that great seeing that Rugby is played here for some time. But that all boils down to weak funding from the local government and weak support from people (I mean in numbers, not them shouting XD), and then in return, you get possible players not really thinking that Rugby is a viable option for someone who wants to get into professional sports, so they turn to more profitable sports if possible and that cycle just continues. It's interesting that the type of people that Rugby attracted in Croatia, were (for the most part), not your typical athletes but rather fans of the sports that enjoy the game, pain, and drinking, and I am not exaggerating here. We do have more regular athletes, but we really need to bump it to a higher level for it to do something more meaningful.

Gaelic football and Hurling? I'd never guessed it. Strange but also cool that it's not god damn soccer in the first place all of the time XD

Well... It's simple really ... With Rugby be it League or Union as well as Soccer the players run that way kicking and carrying the ball... then they run the other way.  The ball gets too heavy so they put it down on the ground and their team mates come over to praise them with hugs and kisses for running so far with such a heavy ball...  

In soccer they spend 80 minutes pretending they are hurt where as in the other games the players spend the 80 minutes pretending they are NOT hurt...

In Cricket, the object of the game is to hit the opponent's player in the head with the cricket ball, but to make it look like an accident.  The one who is having the cricket ball being thrown at their head tries to knock the ball away from their head.  If they do so - they can run home for dinner.  Most of the time they run away, change their minds then run back to where they were standing when the cricket ball was thrown at their head.

There are some other rules but they sound made up to me...

In world Rugby (union) rankings there are a number of Tiers and the difference in class
between those tiers.

Romania and Georgia which would be close to your home are in Tier two,
Croatia is in Tier 3 Development 2.

So there is a massive gap even to Tier 2 for Croatia.

There is a European competition running at the moment Rugby Europe International Championship
it excludes the Six Nations countries and I think Croatia has not qualified for the current set of games.

Less than 30 minutes into the first half and the Rabbitohs are blazing the field leading 14 - 0 against the Sharks.

The Bull Dogs took the lead in their second half encounter with the Canberra Raiders, but tanked as they have done all year.  The Sea Eagles pounded the Broncos into oblivion yet again and the Knight lost in an upset loss to the Wests Tigers who have been playing a hot-and-cold season for stellar wins and stellar losses so far.

This weekend in the NRL I am 5 from 5, happy with that, I havent made any

This weekend in the Pro14 Rainbow Cup saw my home team beat a strong Munster
side [beaten finalists in the Pro14 Competition itself], Connaught finished the game
4 points clear, great result and one I didnt call.

I normally bet conservatively as per above.
The odds on the Panthers v Rabbitohs is fairly close 1.30 to 3.90,
I'm not sure the game will be so close, Im hoping it wont be.

The Eels v Sea Eagles odds are just as close, I cant see the top
2 teams on the ladder being beaten.

The website I'm using to place bets on the Australian Rugby League (Nitrogen sports) only allows placing a minimum 3000 says ( 0.03 mBtc)wagers and they round up or down on payouts in 1000 sat increments unlike freebitco.in which gives exact Satoshi payouts on bets, so to put a bet in something paying out 1.09 odds, I've got to place a 5000 sat wager for a 6000 sat payout.

This is why I'm taking a punt in higher odds for a wider win.  This year has seen wide winning scores.
