There are several reasons why Chelsea lost and the first 2 reasons you have explained and the other reason is just because Chelsea also has to divide the match schedule in other competitions such as the European conference league play off round.
With all this we can see that the first defeat is not something bad because a club has its own goals and if Chelsea in the next match can be more consistent I am sure Chelsea can end the season with a ticket to the champions league.

I don't think I would like to take the risk of betting on Manchester United because they always struggle to play against Brighton, Everton is not a weak team, but they couldn't withstand the pressure of Brighton because they are stronger than them, Manchester United won their latest match by only one goal, while Brighton won it by three goals. Brighton are firing on all cylinders under their new coach and will be looking to impress him further and Man UTD tend to take games that involves clubs like these one who may have chances of surpassing them in the table and seeing how they were able to get a late goal from newcomer, Joshua zirkzee in their opening match (although they struggled real hard) I have the feeling it will be a hard fought game but not one I'd be confident enough to put my money on direct winning for Man UTD. Chelsea has got a whole lot of work to do on their team if they must make the best of this season. Number of players on a team doesn't matter and isn't a determinant wether the team is going to win or not and Chelsea is very much aware of this which they are supposed to take measures against it so it doesn't eventually get to cost them so much already before the end of the season. There are several reasons why Chelsea lost and the first 2 reasons you have explained and the other reason is just because Chelsea also has to divide the match schedule in other competitions such as the European conference league play off round.
With all this we can see that the first defeat is not something bad because a club has its own goals and if Chelsea in the next match can be more consistent I am sure Chelsea can end the season with a ticket to the champions league.
