It’s a reasonable concern, Rojan. Here’s the math:

The value of a crypto currency is really the total value. The number of units it’s divided into is quite secondary.

Suppose that the Unobtanium community and miners remain on track. We pass into the maintenance stage – which gives us a coupla hundred years of having SOME Unobtanium.

Suppose there were only 150,000 Uno left – at which point REALLY thorough ‘handling’ protocols would be in place. Un-Ex and face-to-face P2P may be the only ‘exchanges’ remaining.

Each Uno is divisible by a thousand. Thus, 150 million ‘MicrUnos.’ With spirited development, each Micruno will be redeemable for an ounce of silver. At $20 an oz. – today – that’s a market cap of $US 3 Billion. If the financial crisis triples the price of silver – 9 Billion.

If we centralize our drive for a ‘corporate culture,’ we will  be able to create a couple of other coins. Our Hedges, for example, are the crypto world’s VERY FIRST intra-community currency.

We can leverage the community energy/community trust/established value of Uno and Hedges – perhaps 15 Billion US at that point – to launch ‘Pocket-Change Coin’ for use in Global Mall Unobtanium.

The Rockchain and a fleet of Unobtanium armoured paper-wallet-transport vehicles will serve perfectly well to ‘anchor’ an enterprise that will keep us in Cheesy Poofs and Mountain Dew until wind and rain has eroded my gravestone to a nub.

Now here I have pointed out a fact that has simply gone over the head of 99% of crypto geeks:

Indeed, a fine currency must be created, but the REALISATION of a crypto comes thenceforth through its community.
Go, us!

miningpool.co -- that I had been happily using for some time now -- seems to have gone completely AWOL over the last two days.

Any good pool recommendations?

At first I was using uno.coin-pool.org.  It seemed pretty decent, except for one glaring flaw: if I kept the stats page open for a while, it would crash my Windows 7 system.  Not just the browser, my entire system -- hard reboot-city!  Never seen anything like it before.  Happened four or five times, so I moved on.  Tried the .uk one for oh a week or so, then IT went AWOL!

Which pools are Un miners here using now?

Guys take a look at a coin called Fetish Coin (FET coin) Its getting some attention with only 690k being minted. I've personally spoken with the DEVs and they are really working towards positive things with it. They aren't premined and not looking for pumps and dumps...

Coinking.io seems pretty stable. Check the OP for others.

lol. As much as I like the number 42, our future is less than that.

Did you try to right-click and copy?

Also, did you try to access the directory in DOS mode from the command prompt?

scan and fix could result in the appdata/roaming being deleted - at least that was what i had experienced last time.
Good luck with this.

THIS is what i think has happened with chkdsk...

but i will keep at it..

i DID manage to 'recover' 30,000 NXT (1.x BTC) but i cant really take credit for that, the wallet is different from any other and all you need is your password which i found with ease.

UNO, IXC & LTC are proving a bit more of a ballache.

I can SEE them, but so far cant open or copy 'em

maybe an un-eraser-tool helps? (tool to recover deleted data) in case the harddrive is technically ok and only software error maybe an un-eraser can help?

edit:

drop you this link regarding cryptsy:

@ FK: I have moved a teaspoon of coin to Bittrex

@ Edgar: keep us posted

@ Rojan: thank you for the excellent text on dark sites

@ Our Low Volume and Un-Ex: our volume today is under a tenth of a percent! We all know we are in another Weird Period. Un-Ex is always there. You can buy and sell lawnmowers and Vladimir Putin Halloween masks; but if volume is more necessary on the automated exchanges, then that's how it must be until things pick up.

@ Hedges: the project is clearly in neutral: dropping silver prices were the thing I hoped wouldn't happen. No one will lose out when we 'dismantle' on Jan 1

Right out of the blue!

‘In truth, once the US dollar collapses, nearly everybody except those who protected themselves with savings in hard assets (preferably outside of the US) and things like bitcoin will all be destitute.’

I'm glad for your NXT.
Pls make a clone image of your drive so you have a baseline and can start over if necessary.

this stability of last two weeks is not even possible  Cheesy

Uno is low volatility for sure. Merchants and non-speculators will love it.

Uno will be breeding the worst perma-bulls in crypto history, i promise  Cool

@ Nxt: yep. Completely different system.

@ Unobtanium for Christmas Presents!!

My point is, guys, that this is a good good time for newcomers to join the crypto movement: Bitcoin is gonna rise; Uno will rise more; the world economy is fallin’ to bits; the Christmas Holidays are one rare occasion when you’ll get time to talk.

You provide the mentoring – set up wallet; show how to back up; explain Bitcointalk registration.

You give them three or four Uno as a present, and they buy some more Uno from you.

Or show them how to buy Uno with fiat if that option is open to you.
