now all that remain is to be seen whether Viktor Gyokeres is EPL capacity, and can score this afternoon, to secure a spot for Coventry

Everton thought he is, but he decided to stay in Coventry till the end, maybe it could became good decision, if they win today
and especially if we relegate tomorrow

nevertheless, go Coventry

Steve and Sportsbet are at it again, thanks for the reminder OP! Put in a fancy 3-1 win for the Hatters, though a low-scoring game is likelier.
They are great and they quickly responded on this short notice competition.
Good luck with your prediction Wink

Incidentally, Luton Town's been on my slips all of playoffs so you know how well that went, (well okay, Boro too, and we know how THAT went). I know they're the favourites but still surprised the odds aren't more balanced, yet still worth a place on one of my final accas for the season.
This is really unpredictable event but Luton dont have very good record when played matches in London.
Bookmakers think that Luton is slight favorite and Coventry won only one time in last eleven H2H matches against Luton.
Both teams have some very good attacking players and I expect to see goals in this match.

now all that remain is to be seen whether Viktor Gyokeres is EPL capacity, and can score this afternoon, to secure a spot for Coventry
This will be historic chance for both teams but win against Middlesbrough was a big moral boost for Coventry and they have good chances to win today.
Good luck with your prediction.

Good match so far Luton leaded at halftime 0-1 and Coventry was able to score and draw the match so far. The end of regular time and the result is 1-1 and we are going into extra time. Currently both teams look really tired, but Luton keeps on attacking and searches for a goal. We will see what will happen in extra time but Luton has the edge currently. We are also close to the penalties so wouldnt be surprised if seen them.

Ah well, a draw was probably the most expected result, seems a bit naive in hindsight to pick 3-1, so my acca died an early death (first leg was actually Real and they snatched the win).

Welcome Luton Town to the Premier League... revenue for them this season was less than 18 million GBP from what I read. They now have more than 10 times that amount minimum over the next 3 years. Phew!

It was very good match with dramatic penalty shootout finish and I think Luton deserved to be in Premier League.
I watched first half and Coventry didnt have many chances but situation turned around in second half, but penalties are like lottery and anyone can win.
After 31 years Luton is back in Premier League with Sheffield United and Burnley and it is their time for celebration now, maybe Coventry can try again next year.

It is like they won the lottery  Grin
I think they are going to have hard time keeping some of the top players in Premier League, but that means more profit for them.
Championship welcomes Southampton, Leeds and Leicester for next season.

Luton played quite impressively and they even managed to win in the last few matches they had (the last was against Coventry in the final play-off match). btw Goodbye to Luton, Burnley and Sheffield who have successfully ascended to EPL League 1 and welcome to leicester, leeds and southampton in the EFL championship.

Just did some reading on Luton... I thought Vardy was the complete fairytale veteran, playing for Leicester all through League Two to EPL... only to find out that Luton's vice-captain (well, temporarily remade on their last playoff game) is now the only player to have ever played for the same club from non-league football, all the way to the summit.

That, in my opinion, is legend. Too bad he seems to have said he's retiring. "Only" 29!

P.S. Thanks Sirait, for repeating everything that everyone said, and telling us what we already knew. As usual Wink

Vardy was amazing in Leicester last few seasons, but he can't do all the work of keeping team in Premier League.
Shame for Leicester for being relegated from EPL but I am happy to see them in Championship, they are going to be one of the favorites with Leeds, Middlesbrough and Southampton.
Luton will have hard time staying in Premier League but few teams always make surprise results so they are not without chances.

Thanks Sirait, for repeating everything that everyone said, and telling us what we already knew. As usual Wink

How long it was that Luton is not in the Premier League,I believe quite a lot of years and it is great to see them back in the top tier once again.I think Luton has had several financial crisis and have played more in lower tiers than the top tier of England and it will be very interesting to see how they will behave in the Premier League next season.

In theory Luton is the weakest team of the Premier League but that does not mean anything as in the Championship they have had a great run so far which was crowned with gaining access to the Premier League after winning the play offs.I think betting on them to not be relegated from the Premier League should have a really good odd.

How long it was that Luton is not in the Premier League
I allready wrote about this so you can scroll few posts above to find it.

Reading, Blackpool and Wigan Athletic are relegated this season in EFL Championship but it was very interesting in League One playoff match.
Plymouth Argyle and Ipswich Town came directly in EFL Championship as first two teams, but last team was decided in playoff final between Barnsley and Sheffield Wednesday.
Promotion was won by Sheffield in last seconds of the very dramatic match!
Watch video highlights from that match: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fqK2taQcAeg

Now we have a full list of teams that will participate in EFL Championship Season 2023/2024:

I'm definitely going to follow them more next season. I probably dropped out a little once Leeds promoted, but now there's plenty to watch when possible with them back, and of course Southampton and Leicester -- in a way some of my favourite teams no matter what. At the same time, wish Swansea and Watford stayed in.

I don't expect all the stars to still be around, but yeah, see you all next season!

SO, we are gonna use the Championship as a pre-heating of our engines,  one week before the start of Premier League, Championship its the only "B" league or second division, whatever you want to name it, who its really fun to watch or its interesting to follow. 46 rounds of really good match ups.

it is very sad to see licester in the second division, they used to play well, they were a team that managed to create difficulties for the big teams in the premier league and this season they will be playing in the second division to be able to return to the first division, a task that will not be not easy because usually a first division team when they are relegated doesn't just lose their place in the first division, it loses its good players and coach and money, just see the case of watford that played well in the premier league, but when it was relegated it didn't managed to get good results, they don't even look like the same team that was in the premier league

well, for me this season I'm rooting for leeds, they that in the premier league were a team that played very well, I don't know what went so wrong for them to reach the point of being relegated but if they could play as well as in the premier league, something that it won't be easy if they don't have the same squad, they could return to the premier league. so I'm rooting for them. Leicester will also be another candidate for promotion, as for Southampton I also see them as a favorite team for promotion, in their first friendly against Benfica they lost 2 - 0. Leeds also lost in their first friendly against Manchester United

With Leicester city, Southampton and Leeds United down in the EFL English Championship  after being relegated, it remains to be seen how the coming season will pan out. Can any of the 3 teams mount a come back to the premier asap? Will they get worse in the EFL English Championship ?

Will Sunderland do better from lasts season play off lessons? Can Middlesbrough do better than last season play off place?
Great season ahead; don't be left out !!!!

Historically when teams go down from Premier League into Championship they are split in two ways, two fights in the top and surely one make the comeback fast to Premier League, but always one strugled a lot and they are more close to relegation than from promotion, its really strange but its like the crisis doesnt end when they go down. An example of this its Sunderland going also into League one, or Wigan.

@darxiaomi I feel that Leicester will thrive in this league and I won’t be surprised if Southampton also rediscover their lost form thus I believe that these two team’s will fight for the top 2 spot’s. Furthermore if they fail to qualify for the premier league then their fan’s will be bitterly disappointed as both have quality player’s and now let’s hope that they put in their best performances once the league starts.

OK guys it was enough resting during the summer, big leagues are starting soon but EFL Championship is kicking off this weekend so better get ready Smiley

First match is played between Southampon and Sheffield Wednesday this Friday on August 4, and for celebration Sportsbet decided to sponsor another competition!
Both teams have new managers, Xisco Muñoz signed for Sheffield and  Russell Martin signed for Southampton and he had more time to get familiar with players.
Odds are slightly on Southampton side, and they are much better in H2H matches, but Sheffield has advantage of home field, so this will be very interesting match.

Tom Brady is just confirmed as new advisory board chief for Birmingham City, seems that he doesn't know much about Soccer, but he knows how to motivate players to win in series
with odds for their promotion standing around @20, it could be a good value for throught season

Southampton is starting tomorrow against Sheffield, should be an interesting season

@casperBGD this season I’ll favour Southampton and Leicester more because I believe that these two team’s can find their way back to the premier league. Also that’s a decent odd for Birmingham City but I’ll monitor their progress for a while before considering wagering big on them and lastly let’s see if Tom’s appointment has any positive impact on their performances as the season progresses ahead.
