Argentina had good possession in the first half and managed to score 1 goal. But Australia is playing full defensive. As this is the knock out phase, Australia will look to make goals pay in the second half. Argentina can score more goals in that opportunity.

Yeah , so far they haven't been making much fouls but the squad do have players who commit lot of fouls in the game like Acuna, Romero who can can give some free-kick in dangerous positions. First half was well but I think Argentina should still do better. Not in terms of goal but some pressure from some positions on attack is still needed. If Argentina's luck is not really bad then I don't see the possibility of the match being a draw. Even after Australia scored a goal, Argentina's players did not give up. They did not change their match strategy. Argentina are still attacking and trying to score. They are playing very well. Martinez missed several easy opportunities. Had he not missed the chance, the goal difference would have increased.

The second goal from Alvarez proved to be important, Lautauro Martinez plays well usually for club, but he looks very unlucky with country football, Messi set him up a couple of time to score and he had some good opportunities himself, but he couldn't convert any. The first shocking defeat Argentina experienced on the start of this competition has had a good effect on the team, they recognize the importance of taking every game and every moment seriously. Had the goalkeeper switched off in the final minutes of the game, Australia would have scored and equalized and had the opportunity to win in extra time. I am happy that Messi is making it to the quarter finals.

Australia's goal was deserved, but not the one they scored. That goal was counted as an auto-goal and if they had equalised I think it would have been unfair, unfortunately. Netherlands played an awesome match. USA wasn't able to give the competence and it gave Netherlands the way to qualify for the quarter finals. USA at the end made its goal, though it had highest ball possession than Netherlands.
