After the fall of the legendary and future Hall of Fame Nonito Donaire from the hands of a much younger Naoya Inoue, I can see GGG is next. Although GGG has better odds than Donaire, I still believe the latter has the better chances of winning due to his power and he did hurt Inoue during their first fight. Canelo Alvarez already took GGG's best shots for 24 rounds. Now GGG is old and slower, I really really doubt he can outbox nor hurt Canelo Alvarez. Canelo Alvarez will stop GGG this time. Watch out on boxers entering their mid 30's as their bodies will start to decline (Lomachenko and Crawford).

Canelo's image now is not that good anymore because Bivol really did some scratch on his record, after being the pound-for-pound king and an undisputed boxer, he lost by a UD.
Not that totally damaged but Canelo can still regain that status. He is still in his prime years after all. After the Canelo vs GGG trilogy, it was reported that he will go to Bivol next for the rematch. Unfortunately, Bivol seems not interested in the rematch as he claimed he want more title than a rematch. Hopefully, if Canelo will able to win against GGG, that might push Bivol to consider a rematch with Canelo. But before that, Canelo needs to settle first the chapter between him and GGG. A chapter that until now, no clear winner that's why a trilogy is necessary. Yes, not that badly damaged but his record is now more scathed because of that defeat but yes, he can still manage because he still got his flexibility and speed. It's just that Bivol managed to overwhelm him first. Certainly, Canelo now knows what and how it feels to be rejected for a rematch just like what he did to GGG. Canelo will still likely win this match because he now have more advantage than GGG, but getting a win in this trilogy won't give him much hype but he needs to endure this fight because this is his ticket to get a rematch agaisnt Bivol.

How about on how Canelo performed or fight against Bivol? You could really still see that sloppy punches from Canelo which i do even see that those things are just the same with GGG. Fighting out Murata was still considerable but of course there would be some huge changes. You could actually make out some differentiation between the two but i would still go for GGG on this one. There's no doubt on Canelo's power but withstanding it wont really be that much of an issue.

Yes, I agree with that. Winning against GGG won't put Canelo on fame as the big thing is by defeating Dmitry Bivol. If Canelo will win here, I think it's just a recognition that he will receive but the hype isn't that high because GGG is already on his retirement age and this trilogy might be his last fight. Regardless, Canelo has to win no matter what. If GGG wins instead, I doubt Canelo will have a chance to face Bivol in a rematch. Aside from that, Canelo might not get big fights and needs to go back from the below rankings before having a shot again to fight in a title match.

A slight interchange of name here, Canelo is the one who lost against Bivol with a huge upset, and that lost brought him back to fight GGG again. Luckily GGG wants to put an exclamation point on their trilogy (which is a good thing). Now that GGG is 40 years old, I'll have to say they could have done it before he turns 40. Though he's still in a great form as what we've seen in the Murata fight, GGG still have enough left on his tank. This fight is gonna be Canelo's ticket to continue climbing on his career, but if he lost I don't know what the future holds for him or who he will fight next, or most likely will have to witness a 4th match. If he loses his second consecutive match (after the loss to Bivol), then things will get bad for Canelo. In all probability he will win this match and I believe that the betting odds are fair. But GGG can't be written off despite the fact that he is 40-years old. He has waited so long to get his revenge, especially after the biased scoring for the first two fights. The situation is very interesting. GGG has nothing to lose. He is already close to retirement and will be fighting against a top-ranked boxer. Even if he loses, his career may not suffer. But that is not the case with Canelo. If GGG somehow wins, then there will be negative implications on Canelo's career.

I think it can be concluded that Canelo must win because not only the fame he gets but he gets points that can be used for the next match against Bivol, as I see this will be a determining point whether GGG can read that strategy and give a chance to win for Canelo or not all, It depends on Canelo who has to beat GGG's defense in the arena because the fight is for the old people who prefer to survive and when they find the right time will end the game as quickly as possible.

Maybe it was because can see his punch as it is slow, or Bivol is too good for Canelo at Light Heavyweight. But when him and GGG fight it will be in his sweet zone of 168 lbs so perhaps Canelo will be quick and have that crisp in his shot. But like the rest of you guys, we like the chances of GGG, I think he can still fight even at his age and it could still be a war like in the first 2 fights. Both give each other hell, but they have a granite chin so no one was knock out or knock down. And this could hold true in the trilogy and it will go on the judges scorecard.

If it goes down to the scorecard, then Canelo is definitely going to win. Canelo for sure will be under a lot of pressure. Already he is being blamed for delaying the trilogy fight and on top of that he is still recovering from his upset loss to Dmitry Bivol. I watched the highlights of the match. Canelo started well and Bivol was on the defensive for the first few rounds. But probably Canelo tried too hard too early and after a few rounds, it looked as if he was tired. All the three judges had exactly the same scoring for all the 12 rounds. Canelo won the first four rounds, while Bivol won 7 out of the next 8 rounds.

Canelo is known to be a slow starter, and once he gets hot, Bivol as already ahead on some scorecard and he has given him the comfort, one-two lead and that's enough. But with GGG, it will be different in my opinion. They will go fight very hard until the last round.

That may be true but GGG and Donaire is incomparable, the only identical for the both boxers is they are both approach 40 and 40's. Aside from that, GGG have made his own legacy while Donaire have made his own too but they belong in completely different leagues. GGG may lose this trilogy but Canelo won't have that much hype because he didn't gave GGG his deserved rematch for years and now his giving it because he is now sure that he can defeat GGG much easier. Watch out on boxers entering their mid 30's as their bodies will start to decline (Lomachenko and Crawford).

GGG won his last fight with murata, but can he still give a good fight with canelo. for sure, both camps have the motivation to win this upcoming fight. GGG wanting to win one last time maybe before he retires, whereas, canelo wanting to win because he lost his last fight. no odds yet, but who do you think will be the slight favourite of bookies?

Like Canelo, right? The man is also approaching mid 30's. Yeah, specially if those boxers are really into the war, wear and tear in their bodies. That's why we didn't see boxers fight in the 40's in the 80-to late 90's because that era, lots of boxers really try to take each others head. But now it might be different that's why we have Manny and then Inoue and GGG. Nevertheless, no one can beat Father Time. So we will see if GGG can defy it as least one more time against his archival or maybe time to retire after he lost this fight.

Yeah, specially if those boxers are really into the war, wear and tear in their bodies.
Isn't it much better if these boxers are used to getting matches regularly? Even though they are catching up in ages, as long as these boxers always fight regularly, for let's say an average of 1-2 fights per year, their strength and endurance will just maintain like they aren't aging. Obviously, that statement of mind is not applicable anymore if we are talking about a boxer that is now around 40 years of age. That pretty sure have an effect already on a boxer's strength even if his fight is regular.

But we love these boxers who try to defy Father time, but slowly, not just in boxing, and sooner or later they will have to face the reality that they are past heir prime already and this might be the fight that we might see GGG and say that. Maybe it's the way they really take care of their body and the advancement of sports medicine and not taking shots and damages that we see this boxers still fighting at 40's.

Yeah, but hopefully this time they will pick judges that are not biased to Canelo .
I think both of them will have a lot of pressure on this fight. GGG wanted to get his only lost and believed that he won the 2 previous fight. And then Canelo coming from a humiliating defeat from Bivol and wanted to show that he is the real winner and there should be no controversies in their first 2 fight. And for sure this two are going to bad mouth each other again.

I agree with the first part, but not with the second. Even of Canelo wins fair and square against GGG this time, the controversy regarding the first two fights will not die. Golovkin is already 40 years old and he is a clear underdog for the trilogy fight. If Canelo had accepted the challenge in 2019, then I would have agreed that he is not afraid to face GGG and he is all in for a fair fight. But he has waited for three years, just to wear down GGG. And it further amplifies Golovkin's claim that the previous two matches were stolen from him.

I agree, fight fans will always love and remember those who made the extra mile. I think nearly all athletes are taking care of their bodies especially boxers where lives are at stake. It's just that the great ones have also the tendencies to make it another extra mile. Because their extra ordinary gifts and skills are sometimes enough to win fights even if their bodies are not prime anymore. Record breaking old fighters like George Foreman, Manny Pacquiao, Floyd Mayweather and Nonito Donaire are already legends even before achieving another milestones by continuing to fight despite past their primes.

We know this is a problem with professional boxing, since boxing is a sport of appreciation there is always a chance judges can be bribed or simply have a bias which affects their judgment, without a doubt Bivol won the fight and he did by a wider margin than the official result, still the reputation of Canelo was enough to shorten the difference in the score, for GGG things will be even more difficult because officially he has lost against Canelo already, even if such result was very controversial as well.
If the loss is controversial there should be a succeeding fight to once and for all resolve it, I hate seeing boxers winning by a close margin when you looked at the fight it's not even close, I love to fight that end by knock out or stoppage, there's already a lot of matches in boxing history that are very controversial and deprived boxers of deserving wins. The first two fights between GGG and Canelo are too close to call I hope they can finally resolve it but I doubt it because they are both good in their last fights. I agree that if there is a controversial fight we would need to get a rematch almost immediately to resolve any doubts the public may have about the fight, however we also need to remember that most of the time boxers will put their interests above the interests of the public, in this particular case after Canelo got the win over GGG on the second fight there was interest by the public to see them fight right away, but Canelo refused, it is only now that Canelo needs to reestablish himself as a top fighter after his most recent loss and the fact that GGG is now older that we will get to see this fight.

No doubt but I think GGG can survive the whole 12 rounds without getting knocked out but Canelo will have the upper hand when it comes to the judge's hand. Hopefully he will somehow give this fight a good one to see because people and fans still wanted to see this trilogy not because they're interested how would the fight go but because this might be GGG's last fight before he decides to hang up his gloves as he is already 40 years old. I'm not underestimating GGG here, I just want him to retire as he is much older already and he's in the hall of fame and won't be forgotten through time. Continuing to dance in this industry will eventually make him look bad as the upcoming champions will look for his name to include him in their rapsheet.

Canelo will still likely win this match because he now have more advantage than GGG, but getting a win in this trilogy won't give him much hype but he needs to endure this fight because this is his ticket to get a rematch agaisnt Bivol.
Nobody have thought that Dmitry Bivol will be the 2nd boxer who will put a stain in Canelo's record, Bivol has the reach advantage but Canelo has the IQ in the ring as he is more experienced but the defending champion, Bivol has done a good job in frustrating Canelo. The judge's tried to help Canelo but the fight was really clear that Canelo was having a hard time getting near with Bivol. If GGG will win in this trilogy, I don't know anymore. Perhaps Canelo should go back down to his most comfortable division and make his name again great in that specific division.
