looking at their group, with United and Bayern, they will probably not pass the group, but have fair chances to join Europa league over Copenhagen, as third in the group - maybe even to overcome United, but I don't think that is fairly possible

I also think Galatasaray will be third. However there are important names like Icardi, Zaha, Tete in Galatasaray squad. As they have spent quite much money for transfers this year they have a slight chance to make a surprise against Manchester United.

At least we are in better condition than Werder Bremen now. As a matter of fact the interesting thing is that Diego Ribas played for Fenerbahçe between the years of 2014 and 2016. He was a player who I enjoyed watching quite much in his prime time.

Good luck to the Gunners! I don't think they can go very far but I just prefer them to any Manchester clubs currently. If I wasn't a Barca fan probably I wouldn't want me to progress either. I feel good whenever teams that don't spend crazy amounts win.

And now with new format coming, even harder for small teams to get this cup

If I decide to place a stake on the first match it can be hard to know how much I have left on the 16th+. I could also just write it down myself when doing the picks but figured I'd ask at least

In tourney formats like the UCL, I think managers are forced to be more pragmatic.  That's why Mou at his prime could win it with a more inferior squad while Guardiola had a hard time winning it with a superior squad because he was so idealistic in his approach.

Players fight to make Jose Mourinho happy because he made them feel loved,  while Pep is someone who just play technical football to get results

And yeah...  Different man management approaches.  But I'd disagree that Guardiola wants to play his squads in some way for the results.  It's really the opposite.  Guardiola is idealistic in his approach and wants his squads to play in some style irregardless of the results.  It's Mourinho who doesn't really care how his squads play as long as he gets the results.

For now, what is planned is the spreadsheet, which will analyze all the data, only counting the first 10 points bet.
Imagine that you choose 2 points in all games, that would be more than 10. If someone does this, the spreadsheet will only recognize the first 5 games - which add up to 10 points, ignoring the others.

I think having everything on the same page would be better. It could be a long page, but it also wouldn't complicate reading for the user filling it out.

there is a 2.35 odds on Milan to win, but you have 2*3.5 in formula when calculate wins, should be same 2.35, and 4.7 points won?

To be honest, the smartest play would have been to put 10 on City. You end up with 11 which will be an above-average result for sure.

I agree. Smart play is to bet most points on something you know for sure, and hedge other outcomes with a few points!

You're a highly trusted member of the community, I'd really like you to play with us. What's bothering you? Seeing the answers won't help you much, it's not a competition where you'd be able to calculate like that.
I'm sure we can find a way for you to be a part of it and to also prove the legitimacy of your answers.

If we don't trust whoever is managing the pool, then it's better not to participate. We have to trust that he won't "rig" the game or "tamper" with the entries.

But, you can solve this problem easily. Be the first to answer. You are the one who makes the form, you just have to respond as soon as you finish doing it. Since it's the first entry, it's not worth looking at what others have done.

In the file I am preparing, the user's first entry is the only one that is counted, even if they make two or three.

So I repeat, write your username correctly on the form, exactly the same as the one on the forum, so that it is counted. If they don't, the OP must agree to manually correct the entry. That will be up to him.

Not that is needed since we trust you but there is quite simple solution to that problem. We were thinking about it for BSFL. Instead of hiding whole sheet you hide most columns and leave username and timestamp. Check out Newcastle promo sheet. Then make sure to make your predictions early. That should be more than enough and if you are in close fight with somebody in the last round or something in addition you share your answers to few people that submitted before you. None of that is necessary in early rounds but if it gets heated you implement it and secure yourself from some comments.

Knowing your way of playing, you will have quite unique picks anyway  Would hate to miss your input in betting experiment like this.

Yeah...  But I think they get enough points from FC Copenhagen and Galatasaray to go through to KO stages.  And it's better if they do as we'll need the laughs and keep things interesting.  I hope they'll win one from Bayern too.  Lol.

- seeing responses after MD1 means I can copy all answers of competitors (should I want to remain above him). But joker_josue has the solution and I'll do that. Answer first before putting the link live. That way, I can't possibly change my answers without the form showing my entry late (revision history can confirm that). I entered my picks, but will be the 1st from now on. If anyone objects, please say so =)

- Hiding columns won't show interesting info either and allows users to make a copy of the sheet and attempt to steal hidden data. Unlikely but who knows, eh? I'll make the sheet available soon after deadline passes so it won't be a terrible delay. joker_josue advises this is also safer. Let's see what we can do in future.

I see, you really put a ton of effort into it and I'm very sure it'll pay off for everyone. +1
2 different pools will make it much more exciting in my opinion. Maybe some people will be down in one pool but up in another, so it'll stay interesting to participate.
I'm looking forward already to all of your picks.

But maybe 2 suggestions:

• One less important suggestion to add a list in your OP of which participants have paid already to have an overwiew.
• And one suggestion regarding our Google form: do we really have to log in all the time in our Google account? Google has an option to disable it, where we can fill out a form and don't need to log in every time. Would save us some time and also from a privacy perspective because Google accounts are very difficult to create. Maybe we can disable mandatory log-in from an Google account?
