Now bro compare Musiala's stats to those of Pedri and Gavi, and keep in mind that Musiala is not playing under Pep, and Barcelona is having the best run of games in the league compared to struggling Bayern.


As I previously stated, both players are talented, but their statistics from the Academy to the senior level do not reflect the media attention they have received in Spain.

Very much so, you are comparing midfielders with wingers and attackers. Yes they sometimes play more upfront but their main job is to create the game and open positions for attackers. Musiala played central striker in most matches and sometimes second striker. How can you even compare those players? By that comparison Modrić is terrible player with just 32 goals from 467 matches for Real and not an absolute legend who makes whole team better just by being on the pitch.

Pedri is one of the best young midfielders in the world and he showed it perfectly when he played back to back championships for young Spain and then senior Spain. Foden is one of the best young wingers in the world. Yes they can both cover other positoins but those are their main roles in the team. Did not watch enough of Musiala to comment on him while Gavi is still not in the same class as first 2 players.

I really don't know the answers to your questions. There is a lot of stuff that has to go perfectly for young player to become top player. I don't think Foden would have been what he is if he started in Barca but I also don't think Pedri would already accomplish this much if he played for City.

@Harko To start off, igehhh is what you call that guy who likes to provoke. It's a bit of fun, I get it, and probably adds character to this pool, so take with a grain of salt. He does seem to have quite extreme (and incorrect) sources at times though.

But for the sake of banter. I do think Pedri is amazing. I watch some Barca, I watch Spain, and breathless man. I don't know Spain or La Liga so well but I see Pedri/Gavi as 2 of the replacements for Iniesta/Busquets/Xavi -- if I understand anything about Barca, Xavi is returning to that fulcrum.

So stats comparisons is awful, I never liked it, especially since Liverpool stopped using strikers, and because I don't really play FPL, I can't be bothered by stats but I like chances created, what people bring to the game etc. Firmino is probably the shittiest stats striker in EPL but damn, what he brings to the team.

Ini/Busq/Xavi I also don't really have states but I'm pretty sure they produced same amount of goals/assists per appearance as you'd expect from midfielders. Looking at stats provided above from Pedri and Gavi, 1 goal contribution per 10 games is pretty solid for me, which is way better than Fabinho or Henderson for Liverpool (yes igehhh I can hear your Loserpool claims coming) but that don't make them shit.

Would they be better under Pep? No idea, I lean for no.
Would Foden be better under Xavi? Almost certainly not, but also no idea. English guys in Spain, man. Doesn't work, they get depressed. And yeah I know, Beckham, McManaman, most recently Trippier... they were cool but not legendary.

So far so good the games and I hope they end this way,this means it will be a very good night for the bettors if the games end like this,well I lost my handicap bet on Milan as Chelsea is playing very well and I didn't see it coming.Every other game is also going like the predicted outcome,well most of them.

1. In recent seasons Barca had quite many overhyped and overrated players, but that's definitely not Pedri or Gavi. But I don't really like when media trying to call someone new Messi, Xavi or Iniesta.
About 2. and 3. I don't have answer. I don't really like conditional questions "what if". For me that's pointless predictions.
@igehhh, c'mon, Pique and Alba were removed from starting 11 after first game of season with Rayo and now aren't getting much time to play. Personally, I don't mind them having such role.
And I don't like judging players blindly looking at stats, especially when we talk about midfielders. Stats like goals and assists isn't main factor. More specific stats matters like correct passes, ball touches, pressures and etc.

As I said I did not watch enough of Musiala to comment on him but you can't ever convince me that Foden plays same position as Pedri/Gavi. When you look at the line ups it looks like this:


And that is exactly what they play. Maybe Foden started as midfielder but he has been utilized exclusively as a winger/striker/false 9 in the last few years. Pedri and Gavi both play as creative central midfielders with lots of defensive duties and build up play. It is not their job to score, that is just cherry on top. Their job is to create space for their wingers. Any stats comparison between them is useless, almost similar as if I said Antonio is better than Ronaldo since he made so much more tackles per game during his career.

Most young players from big countries are over hyped and not worth as much as media writes them up. That is a fact and situation is even worse in UK than in Spain or maybe you want to argue that Fofana/Grealish/Sancho were worth that hefty transfer tags.

Two games now we actually played quite ok and still lose, I guess we are just really shitty when playing away.

I would also argue that Barca received quite unfair refereeing, maybe not outright criminal decisions but more then enough to be unhappy with ref.

First they got goal disallowed for handball and then they did not get penalty for handball in last minutes of the match. At least one of those shiuld have gone to Barca favour.

I agree, for sure, but did not watch live and saw the incidents first on photos and socials, plus I am a fan so it's always hard to stay objective, but I'm happy someone else agrees, so I know I'm not just being a whiner. At the same time, I really hate dwelling on ref decisions because not once has things ever been overturned (except red card).

Always thought of Ajax as gentlemen club, nice managers and nice players but then I looked them up a bit and their ex bosses and even players seem to be quite dicks recently (one got fired for sex harassment, another left his rival club asking for more money and makes fun of his old club now at Ajax).

interesting question, probably there is no objective answer, and I don't like Barca that much, so a bit overrated, not sure why they would struggle under Guardiola, but Pep is not the same in La Liga and EPL, and yeah - City is so dominant this season in midfield, that all players are doing great

what I would argue is that anyone would thrive on Haaland place, and as Pep said, Haaland cannot do it alone, as Messi (Haaland would not bring Norway to anything interesting, as Ronaldo done with Portugal), what are other opinions - not sure, but I think that Haaland would be below 10 goals per season playing for Fulham for example

Radja Nainggolan has scored a lot more goals than Luka Modrić. Both are midfielders. Modrić is world-class while Nainggolan is utter shit.

I must admit that I fell for the PSG odd; that's the highest I've seen them get this season, and given their league form, I was expecting a positive result. I haven't been following the Benfica team this season, and I paid dearly for doing so. In the second leg, PSG will get it right.

Yeah and I managed to drop positions after doing so well initially with the 1st 2 games. I just got too smart with some games, and got slapped in the face by guys like Liverpool (4-0 what was I thinking?).

Watched PSG game first, then switched to BVB, but stream quality was so poor last night I switched off at HT, more interested in this weekend's fixtures now that I'm sitting shit everywhere.

PSG's gameplay was good. But I did not see any weakness in the performance of the Benfica players. Benfica's players tried their best to earn points. And Benfica's performance was very composed. PSG dominated the match.
On the other hand, Benfica's players had less possession of the ball but they made some good attacks. Basically, Benfica's goal in this match was to share the points. And so after a 1-1 draw in the first half, they were more focused on strengthening their defense in the second half. However, I expected a better performance from Mbappe in this match. Mbappe's performance was disappointing.

Well - that's the risk you take with talents. There are some who make it to the top and many others that, for one reason or another, get left behind.
A player like Dembele has all that's needed to be a top class player, that's why Barcelona gave him the new deal even though he's one of their biggest flops so far, considering how much they paid for him.

We've seen players like Robinho simply disappear after just a few good years, so even if they do look great - they are always a gamble.
