Qatar had many problems before the world cup, they had lack of stadiums and they didn't have enough workers in their country to build stadiums for the world cup while all they had was money and nothing else, and that is why they had to spend lots of money to hire workers from other countries and build stadiums for the world cup which was a bad experience, but this time we know in USA and Canada where are enough stadiums and that's why they won't need to spend money for building new stadiums.

Not only they "paid" people a lot of money to build their stadiums, they paid about 200 billion to make that happen and the stadiums were less than 10 billion dollars of that. They had to literally build a whole nation all over again, from hospitals to roads to airports to hotels to many other things. When you end up spending that much, it's good for the nation to be fair after everyone else leaves, because regular citizens will use it, but it also questions why not done beforehand if it can be done?

Secondly, tens of thousands of workers died there, even the best estimate shows it around a few thousand. Because they just throw money there and hired more workers when some of them died, instead of making it safe to work.

And FIFA also didn't uttered a word about this issue. Children of these migrant workers are still starving to death in Nepal and Bangladesh, while FIFA is making big projections of $11 billion revenue for the next edition of the world cup. I agree with the point that there are enough large stadiums in all the three countries who are the hosts. But extensive renovations maybe required, to modify them as per FIFA standards.

@alegotardo it’s starting to seem like Qatar doesn’t care much about this issue, because I thought that they would provide heavy compensation and make it right. @Sithara007 labourers conditions are much better in those countries hosting the World Cup in 2026, hence we definitely won’t see a repeat of the 2022 World Cup but I yet expect a new controversy to come up as we move towards the 2026 World Cup.

Many issues have happened in previous editions of the world cup, and the world just keeps going.

I'm not saying it's a good thing, but that's just how it seems the world works.

Who remembers that the 1978 World Cup was held during a brutal dictatorial regime in Argentina, during which many innocent people were imprisoned and tortured or even lost their lives?
Who cares anymore about corruption and bribery of FIFA members to vote for the decision to hold the 2018 and 2022 World Cups in Russia and Qatar?
In the whole story, only profit is important, and the words "human rights" and "honesty" no longer exist in the FIFA offices.
Ordinary fans have no influence on FIFA policy and can only accept the current state of affairs.

If we're completely honest, I thoroughly enjoyed the 2022 World Cup. The football was great, and it was really fun and interesting, all the way into the final.

There were less issues than I expected outside the pitch.

I don't know much about Mexico, but both the United States and Canada have strict labor laws, which protects the rights of laborers. And I mentioned this before. There are a huge number of sports stadiums in these countries, and at the most they need to be renovated/refitted (but converting NFL stadiums to football is going to take a lot of time and effort). But what worries me is the worsening economic situation in the United States. The inflation is already touching double digits and a number of companies are laying off the workers. If something really bad happens, then the world cup may get impacted.

Honestly, FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022 most amazing and there are not any problem yet when first until last games and seems last World Cup edition have been success, issues about many worker die is not true and Qatar become most amazing host with single host they can manage well with amazing stadium.

For FIFA World Cup 2026 I don't see have any great stadium looking on MLS League many team playing with bad stadium and used for the other sport, I doubt with United State, Mexico and Canada will be host better than Qatar with good stadium and all player never complaint about what facilities getting when Qatar became the host of World Cup 2022.

I still can't believe that it happened, that's the weird part. And not like anyone is visiting Qatar or think highly of them because of the world cup neither. They overspent for it, and they are not going to get anything back from it neither, it is not going to be good at all. I feel like it is going to be something that they will regret for a long time.

In fact, I am pretty sure that they had more bad light on them because of the world cup than good, and they will be hated a long time because they basically stole the world cup from these teams in the end. I think a smaller balkan nation would have been even better, hotels, stadiums, all of that is ready in most those nations.

For example, the Estadio Azteca is having a capacity of close to 90,000 and it was build in 1966 (however, the stadium underwent extensive renovations in 1986, 1999, 2013 and 2016). And before the 2026 world cup as well, we can expect another round of comprehensive renovations.

That's a good point for the teams hosting the 2026 world cup. Even if there are old stadiums and these stadiums are not standard for the world cup still they don't have to build anything from zero. Estadio Azteca got a 90000 capacity and this can be perfect for the world cup in Mexico but they have to start repairing the stadium. During this time they will spend some money but this can be a good investment for Mexico.

LOL.. at least the fans will be able to get beer during the 2026 world cup. And you are not completely correct when you claim that beer was totally banned during Qatar 2022. Those who had the top tier tickets ($25,000 or so per ticket) had the luxury of enjoying beer while watching matches live. Only the ordinary fans with lower tier tickets were denied from enjoying alcoholic beverages and beer. In 2026, there will be all sort of beverages available to the fans. Each of the three countries have their own signature brands of lager beer and other alcoholic beverages.

Basically it is for the people who matter and not you and me. It is for people who have a lot of money, and it is for Qatar rich people to let all their other rich people to come visit them and show them around and basically network that way. It allows those people who we may dislike but have tens of billions of dollars to just show their western partners how great their nation is.

Dubai is in a middle eastern location as well but everyone loves it, Qatar wanted to be like that as well, all the bad human conditions do not matter when there is a half a billion dollar worth of merger in talks, only more money made from that deal matters to both sides and that's why they did it. Basically they threw a big party.

I also agree with what you said!
I believe that even before Qatar was chosen for the World Cup, FIFA teams and staff knew that, that country has different cultures, it is a very religious country, and have several strict rules.

LOL... Alcoholic beverages are readily available in most of the middle-eastern countries, including Bahrain and the United Arab Emirates. The problem is not about any existing laws in Qatar. A lot of us were surprised when Qatar imposed a last minute ban on beer, despite assurances given to the FIFA and Budweiser (one of the sponsors of the tournament). And beer was made available for those holding the highest tier ticket. Banning beer was only part of the issue. The way they banned it was the main reason why there were so many complaints.
