I'm also looking forward to it, but 2026 is secretly a bit far away. And the focus in most countries will surely be on the European Championship, which will be organized in Germany next year. Argentina and Brazil are the only non-European football countries that can compete with Europe. So if you have a European championship and you add Brazil and Argentina, you have a kind of world championship. Messi and Ronaldo are both pure fans of the game, I think they both just want to play as many final tournaments for their country as possible. Ronaldo is still in top shape, which means that he can play football a few years longer internationally than most other players of his age. And of course also because of his talent.

Even without Brazil and Argentina, the European Championship is the strongest tournament on the planet (in terms of average team strength), and the World Cup, due to the invitation of a bunch of weak teams, is perhaps even weaker than the America's Cup (although I'm not 100% sure here).
It is unlikely that Ronaldo is in top shape - simply because of his age. But even with his deteriorating physical performance, his skill and experience allows him to remain a useful player.

Yeah, it is already confirmed that there will be more teams joining the world cup tournament by 2026, this is a development that's been welcomed by majority of sports lovers.
And in my own personally opinion, allowing more countries the opportunity to participate in the world cup tournament come 2026 is a necessity since like we all know, the match is been hosted by three different countries, having more teams play would not only extend the game, it will also extend the fun as well. 

Well, the actual stages and groups, etc, have not been decided yet. They are re-thinking how to make it after the success of the 2022 World Cup. It was very fun and interesting all the way, so maybe they will keep the format.

And it won't necessarily be longer as you can have games at the same time as they did near the finals.

Having more teams will make it look a bit more like qualifiers though. Which are also fun to watch on its own. Basically qualifying now for the world cup will be less important than what it was before since almost everyone will be qualifying now.

The money that is being poured into the pocket of Ronaldo for the Saudi Arabia Pro League is the real example how business is being moved along with these players. What they've invested on Ronaldo could be earned double by the end of the league for sure.

I didn't read this news and it seems like it was just a discussion and suggestion to PSSI and came from uncredible media, but if it's done right and Indonesia wins then what do you expect? expect the U-20 World Cup to still be held in Indonesia while still banning one of the countries that have already qualified? This polemic should no longer need to be debated as it is currently still a hot debate on social media in Indonesia and finally hoax news began to emerge which in the end all discussions were no longer true and pure with reasons of rejection. With only a few months remaining, the appeal will not change FIFA's decision on cancellation, and the debate will not change Indonesian football for the better because football is often used as a political tool to build their popularity, not to build football.

I agree with you. In fact, in my opinion, the EURO is an even better competition than the World Cup, with many more quality teams and with many more uncertain and interesting matches.

I feel like there is this talks about Russia not be part of some sports organizations, but that feels like a start of one thing and end of another. Just as an example, Olympics had something like that as well. In the end we have to accept the fact that moral superiority can't be in any of these nations at all and qualification games are the only thing that matters.

Thankfully we are going to have more teams and I feel like 64 can be achieved in the future as well, more games means more money and that is what the world cup is all about. It happens every 4 years but it makes so much money and definitely something to consider when dealing with this much money.

As far as I know, this 10-match figure was decided earlier, when FIFA was thinking about a 3 team per group format. But then they changed the format to 4-team groups and therefore the total number of matches almost doubled to 104. So I guess both Canada and Mexico will get more matches to be staged within their borders. But I have a question here. If USA is hosting more than 70% of the matches, then why Canada and Mexico are being allotted automatic qualification to the 2026 World Cup? They are not co-hosts. They are just subsidiary hosts.

@Fivestar4everMVP who said this isn’t a big issue, because it’s an open secret that player’s do not like to travel constantly during a tournament as it effects them plus they like to eat specific foods only so for them it’s a nightmare to constantly adapt to the three countries.

Furthermore if given the option the player’s would have chosen to play in one country only, and maybe from an non player perspective you’re right but put yourself in their shoes and then you’ll realise that the constant travelling part will be a big hassle for them.

The FIFA has minimum requirements for every FIFA approved stadium. I am sure that you won't find a single stadium during the World Cup where the field looks more like an acre. That is not going to happen. The stadiums in Brazil and in Russia have been great as well and I can't remember that there were any complaints about the field quality. The only difference you mentioned might be the weather. But in total I believe the FIFA will try to create a level playing field for all teams involved. Minor difference can never be avoided, not even when the whole World Cup takes place in a single country. It is like playing in Wimbledon. Everyone wants to play on the Centre Court, but that's not possible.

Canada which is basically at the North Pole is not precisely known for its nice weather, also we must remember that no matter how poor you think a country is they all have cities with sections for the wealthy so the quality of hotels should not be a problem, and finally about the quality of the stadiums, we are talking about the would cup here, I doubt FIFA is going to allow for any stadium to be of subpar quality as this will also give a bad image to FIFA if it happened.

I think having more matches would mean more fans, and more games, more tv income and even maybe more merch sales as well. All of that combined there is more money to be made this way and I think Fifa only cares about that. If you can make more money, then find the method that gives you the most money.

This is exactly the reason I say that it will eventually be 64 team thing, for a while that is as high as it will get, I doubt it will get any higher but we will see that. Why? Only reason; money. Because 64 teams means even more money, and easier setup as well, like 2 teams from each group means 32, then face each other to 16 and then quarter then semi then finals, simple method and will happen.
