Oh noooo, I wasted so much time trying to find answers this question and write four players going to semifinals, that is two pairs.
I am sure Trofo it was you who made this hard and tricky tennis question so you should be punished with one more minus point

Damn, I noticed this post too late (haven't checked notifications bot) and it means that I spent maybe half hour trying to respond it. And I'm not sure that I've done it right . Nothing wrong with question, but in tournaments like Masters or Grand Slams there is big draw and it requires some time to analyze top and bottom halfs of draw to be sure who can and who can't face each other. And even in later stages it's not that easy, but probably it's my problem.

You guys really need that much time to finish the final stage of the tennis tournament draft? I mean I do the whole draft in 2 minutes. Granted when you can just click on players instead of writing their names.

I spend one minute checking weather forecast for whole week since it is very different conditions in tennis due to humidity and then just pick the players based on their current form, aptitude for the surface and modified a bit if there is high humidity. But I am betting on tennis almost daily for last 10 years so I guess I am nowhere close to casual in this sport.

I also had some difficulty figuring out who could and couldn't meet. I think I even managed to make the combination possible, but it wasn't easy at all.

This type of question can be funny, but it has to be in tournaments that the information of who can play with whom is clearer and easier to read.

I think the problem was not so much the question, but how the information was available.
That is, it is not easy to go to the official website and see which games will generate the next games until reaching the semifinals. So it's complicated to realize that 4 players can get there. Of course, researching deeper, you could get an idea, but it wasn't easy.

But, it was certainly possible to learn how to do better in the next round of questions.

After the question I asked and the final wordings I read by with question before I submitted my predictions was interpreted to my understanding as, picking the four semifinalists i.e. two semi final fixtures, then the two players to make it to the finals and finally the player to win the tournament. However, it took me a whole lot of time to study the draws and get the semi final fixture combinations that are possible, since it started from round 1/128, so narrowing it down to the semi finals was quite a task, to be honest, and would have been worth it, if only the question counts, but I understand the fairness. Even if it worded correctly, I'm pretty sure a number of users that are familiar with Tennis would definitely input some semifinals fixtures combination that are practically impossible to occur.

So I just spent the last 20 minutes figuring out how to answer the tennis question. I came here to say good job on the question only to see that it won't be counted However I think I got it right. I got info from SofaScore which is my favorite app/website to track sport results.

This week I'm not so confident in my answers. It could be the first week for me to lose a "game". I don't know why. It's just a feeling.

Sofascore and all other similar are bad for tennis. They don't account for surface in H2H, there are players that never won a match on grass, you can see that info on tennisexplorer in couple of seconds while I don't know anyone else that even shows it. It has every match every player ever played, even frindlies and all smallest tournaments in its database. Basically free money when grass season starts.

Maybe sofascore improved in recent years but I doubt it.

I didn't mean that they provide as much info on tennis like Tennisexplorer. SofaScore provides results for almost every sport I can think of. It's normal that they can't be as detailed for tennis as Tennisexplorer. I just wanted to say that SofaScore provides the same graphics for the players so it's pretty easy to see who can meet and who can't.

I think that would have made life easier for everyone, and the question would have had another impact on the round.


One suggestion, when asking slightly more complex questions, give a tip on where to go to check information for it.
In that case it would have helped. And the tip does not influence the answer, it only allowed making logical guesses that could happen.

Must admit I am a bit disappointed since this seems like another week when some people will start with handicap. We are now on round 5 and we had the same deadline in all rounds. Plenty of time to get used to format and deadline timings.

Maybe I am wrong and everybody is just waiting till the last moment but no need for that today since there isn't a question that can provide an advantage by waiting.

I don't know about others but I like to take half an hour to properly study the questions and the sports. This week was the one when it took me quite a lot because of the tennis question. Well if you read some of the answers above, you would know that tennis question will not be counted this week. We worded it badly and lot of people had problems with it.

Lucky or not: I made my picks in under 20 seconds but only because I agree, this round didn't require research (mainly because of tennis null).
