I have checked their onion website several times today (and immediately after reading your post) and it is definitely not down. The Whirlwind website is working.

Notes are still being generated and the process allowing customers to deposit funds is still there. Basically, every front-end action seems to be working but behind the scenes the functionality is not working.

The website is completely centralized. The future plans to decentralize the site have been discussed, but that doesn't mean anything yet. Note that one of the questions I asked last May about this was ignored.

My suggestion: Everyone who have fund there in the notes, submit withdrawal [full amount], leave nothing. You will get the Letter of Guarantee. Verify the message. The letter will have withdrawal address and anyone can easily verify that the funds were not received. Do not use this address in the future just in case someone get a chance to tell that you received the funds.

The sum Minerjones is holding isn't sufficient enough to cover the total deposited money I think. Minerjones is holding 40k DAI which is ~1.50 Bitcoin while the amount should be far higher considering the deposits we can see in the last week. How will it be used then? Well, MJ knows that better. Let him decide once everything is confirmed. Though the chance of whirlwind coming back is pretty low, we can still hope for the best and hopefully whatever they have said is true.

For many users, it's not possible to submit a withdrawal moving the entire balance.
You can only withdraw fixed amounts and the minimum is 0.001 BTC.

By the way, their multi-signature address is 3 of 3, not 2 of 3.

The problem is different from mine. The main problem is withdrawal delay. But I am unable to open the site. If they are not able to open the site then how they will withdraw their fund? And I do not think they have too many visitors which will occur this type of problem.

Deposits to the multisig addy in the last few days alone are more than that in just the last 5 days. I just (only now) realize that makes the escrow partially useless: if there would be an exit scam, it would be trivially easy to fake losses to claim back the escrow as a victim.

Ya, it won't be easy to judge , however, are two scenarios in which lost funds can be proved with strong and convincing evidence.

1- Signature campaign participants can easily prove they have lost funds:

- Payments are sent to Public Notes, we can easily prove that some public note which could be found on the campaign thread or/and by checking with Hhampuz has a pending withrawl from the mixer

- The mixer's Signing Address

The minum loss for all campaign participants is 2166$ (we know for sure none of that amount left the mixer's wallet), it could be more depending what the participants have left there previously, and since the withraws stopped on the 9th of august (a few hours after week 19 payments) a good portion of these (3396$) could still be locked in the mixer, so it's safe to assume that the campaign participants alone have somewhere about 5k lost in there.

2- Forum members with somewhat a reputable account who have a message signed by the mixer for both deposite and witnrawl.

- Similiar to the points above, the singed message includes the timestamp of the withrawl, so you can't fake it, if your address did indeed receive the funds, you can't claim it came from another withrawl which you don't have the signed message for.

Another way that people can think of is when they began paying using note public key to the Whirlwind participants on this forum. Funds are paid from note public key into note public key. It would have been better if it is paid to individual bitcoin addresses on their self hosted wallet.

Indeed with the benefit of hindsight, I do remember raising concerns about the (in my opinion, unsustainable) APR three months ago:

For example if you have a Note with a balance of 1BTC you will receive 0.00033333BTC every day added to your balance, so 0.01BTC a month in total. After a day your Note balance would be 1.00033333BTC and so on until you withdraw. You could deposit today, wait for a day, withdraw and you would still get to keep the rewards for that day.

So, it mean, monthly interest amount is fixed and it is not cumulative, no compound interest, only 1% per month is the maximum reward for participants.
In fact, the APR at 12% is higher than what we can get at the moment if we compare with banks. But, have you ever thought about applying compound interest? Although it is not very feasible

Nobody complained about the change of payments from btc address > Notes. On the contrary people praised it, wherever they are now idk. Obviously there's always a risk involved when you make a switch like that but I didn't see anything wrong with it, and everyone involved knew it when it happened without being forced to stay.
