Is it possible that TOR also has some level of involvement on this (I guess it does, with all those proxy, bridges etc)? Right now I'm on TOR and when I open my photography thread it's slow as hell (https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=5584438.msg66780965#msg66780965). The same goes for the Pizza Day's voting thread. I don't exactly know this this whole image hosting forum proxy related things works, but when visiting a thread with multiple images, it takes several minutes.
I just checked the Pizza thread in a Private browser (so there's no caching), and it downloaded 164 MB. Some images don't load correctly the first time, reloading the page fixes that (thanks to browser caching). If you're on a slow connection, it's no surprise to take that long.
The solution would be to use real thumbnails on the page, instead of shrinking very large images to thumbnail size. The image proxy is limited to 2.5 MB per image, but there's no limit on how many images you can add in a post.

Joker, I apologize if this problem has already been mentioned here, but why can't we upload multiple images in the upload window at once?

It will only let us upload a single image, even though the dialog says we can upload multiple image, but drag-and-drop and copy/paste into the dialog with another image won't work, presumably because there's already one there.

Did you change the source code from the template? (the imgbb template or whatever it's called)

Seems to work for me.
For multiple images I think you should select all the multiple images you would love to upload at once using the "CTRL + left click option" for windows and the drag all of them to the upload window

Or you could use the browse from your computer option, select all the images you want to upload at once using the "CTRL + left click option" for windows, click open and all should be good.

@joker_josue
I have a suggestion for you for something that you could introduce to TalkImg. I apologize if it's already been mentioned before. This thread has too many pages to go through them all and check. Have you considered adding the option to upload images directly from a link? I think Imgur had this feature back in the day and when it was popular on the forum. Maybe they still do. I haven't used the service since their images went dark on Bitcointalk.

It's a neat little thing that can save the uploader some time. Instead of having to first download the image first on their computer/phone, they simply point the image host to the image link and it gets uploaded that way.

That feature is already available and you don't have to download images first.

1. Copy the image URL.
2. Click "Start uploading" on talkimg.
3. Paste the URL in "File name" field and click open.

No, it's not.

Pasting a URL into the File name field is not a TalkImg feature. It's simply the default behavior of the operating system's file picker.

When you paste a file or image URL there, Windows (or the OS) first downloads the file to a temporary cache on your local machine. The file picker then passes that local temporary file to TalkImg as if you had selected it manually.

So technically, TalkImg is still receiving a local file upload, not downloading the image directly from the URL.

That's different from what Pmalek is requesting, which is a native feature where TalkImg itself accepts a URL, downloads the image on the server, and uploads it without relying on the operating system's file picker.

If I'm not mistaken, I requested this feature as well... or at least I've wished for it enough times that it feels like I did. 🙂

I have heard that's possible. I read about it somewhere, but I never tried it anywhere. As shahzadafzal pointed out, it's a feature of the operating system and not something that joker_josue built into TALKImg on his end.

In that case, I prefer not to use that way of uploading images to the server. Doing it the standard way gives me more control of what happens with the images instead of letting the OS do its thing.

This feature would be super useful, also in my opinion.
I reckon it might be difficult to achieve server side, as there would need some additional resources, but it would be extremely practical.
A nice addendum to an almost perfect service.

This won't work for me, I'm trying to copy and paste screenshots into Talkimg without saving them first. So naturally it can only be done one at a time.

Yeah drag and drop and copy paste don't work in multiple images. Selecting all images from a single folder and drag and drop from diff folder would be hassle for this. Even though CTRL+Left this only works from file manager. But if we wants to paste the images from our clipboard only single image pasted , multiple don't works. We need to upload it one by one.

This feature would come in handy , cause we took multiple screenshot sometimes and paste them from clipboard which saves us time. Actually I always does this , but uploading 1by1 consumed enough time. Maybe a simple fix on this would be great benefits for all of us.

You are right about copy-pasting, but to upload multiple images into talkimg at the same time, you can simply select all your images and drag and drop them simultaneously. I just tried it and it worked very well without any problems.

 Statistics  June 2026____________________
The major update that has been in preparation for the past year has finally been released. It was on June 10th that we officially launched TalkImg 2.0, with several improvements that we believe will be useful for everyone.

The rollout process went fairly smoothly. After making all the necessary backups, the update was rolled out in stages to avoid complications, and everything was operational in less than an hour. Then, over the course of a few more days, the features that were ready were gradually added to ensure that everything was working correctly.

Fortunately, despite one or two adjustments that were necessary, everything worked without complications. Among the updates made, some bug fixes, structural adjustments, and platform performance improvements were implemented. Additionally, the project underwent some reorganization to facilitate future updates.

But the question everyone is asking is: what's new? Some of these new features have already been mentioned by some users, others you may have already noticed even without them being discussed. Therefore, here is a list of the main new features.

# Image Compression
This may be the main new feature, as it had been promised since the beginning of the project. As we all know, the forum only accepts images up to 2.5MB (this is a limitation of the Bitcointalk, not of TalkImg). In this sense, it is now possible to upload larger images (up to about 15MB), which the platform will compress so that it ends up being less than 2.5MB.

How does it work? As soon as a user selects an image larger than 2.5MB, the system performs an initial compression, if possible via a browser (on the user's side). If this compression is sufficient to reduce the image size to less than 2.5MB, the upload proceeds normally. If the image is still larger than 2.5MB, it undergoes another compression process on the server to ensure the image is smaller than 2.5MB, thus completing the upload.

We chose this method because we realized that many of the images can be adjusted to the ideal size directly via the browser, while simultaneously avoiding overloading the server. Furthermore, the process via browser tends to be faster, and in this way we can minimize any possible delay in the upload process.

Compression is typically achieved by reducing image quality and, eventually, its size (in pixels). In our tests, most images are compressed correctly, but we cannot guarantee that all images will be compressed. If an image cannot be compressed, the user will be informed. Please note that GIFs cannot be compressed, so this type of image will only be accepted if it is up to 2.5MB.

# Support More Image Types
Another highly requested feature was the ability to upload other file types besides those officially supported by the forum (which are: JPG, JPEG, PNG, GIF). It is now possible to upload images in other formats, namely: WEBP, BMP, HEIC, HEIF, and AVIF.

When you choose one of these formats, the platform will initiate a process similar to compressing images, converting them to JPG or PNG.

# New Editing Tools
After choosing the image you want to upload, it was possible to adjust its size. Now, this functionality has been improved and it's possible to make many more edits.

Now you have a slider that allows you to set the image size, instead of having to type it in. You can rotate the image. Cut out the image. Write a text, draw freely, make a square or a circle. To access the feature, simply click the "Edit/Resize" button that appears above the thumbnail before starting the upload.

It should be noted that all these edits are made in the user's browser (user-side), and in some cases may not be applicable. However, most modern browsers should work without problems.

# BBCode Table Tool
This is a completely new feature. Now, whenever you upload multiple images at the same time, you'll have the option to generate a BBCode table with the images.

When the upload is complete, below the field where the BBCode links for the images appear, there is a new field called "BBCode table generate". This option allows you to specify the number of columns the table should have and sort the images within it. Then, simply click "generate," and you will receive all the necessary BBCode code to use in the forum.

# Image Details (Size and Pixels)
I've added more details to the images, including the image size in pixels and the space it occupies. This information appears below the image thumbnail. It will be especially interesting to see this information when the image has to be compressed, since it shows both before and after information.

See the following example, in a large image that will be compressed:
As you can see in the first image, the compression via browser was insufficient (it was 7MB and ended up at 5MB) and will be compressed via server. In the second image, we saw the result of the server compression, where the image ended up being 2MB.

We've also made a few more minor UX adjustments.
I hope this update improves everyone's experience and makes TalkImg more useful. Thank you for all your support, because without it this wouldn't be possible.
