The Turkish Super League kicks off this week with Galatasaray hosting Kasımpaşa at home. It is clear from the odds that Galatasaray is the favorite of the match.  However, today I will be placing small bets on a draw and a Kasimpasa win. Just as Galatasaray put pressure on Fenerbahce last week, a 5-0 Pendik win will inevitably put pressure on Galatasaray today.


As of today, Galatasaray's opponent Kasımpaşa is in 5th place with 18 points. Also, their top scorer Aytaç Kara is a player who played for Galatasaray. And I think he will play a good game against Galatasaray today.

If Kasımpaşa scores between the 30th and 45th minutes and closes the first half like this, they will be halfway there. Earlier in the second half, Galatasaray will put the pressure on and at that moment they need to score 2nd with a counterattack. Otherwise they will draw at best and lose the match at worst.

I don't think the 5:0 win of Fenerbahce against Pendikspor last weekend is gonna put any kind of pressure on Galatasaray when they host Kisimpasa later tonight and that's because of the fact that Fenerbahce's win took place in the same match week 10 that Galatasaray also got all three points from their own game.
I think Galatasaray are going to beat Kisimpasa later tonight and that's because of the current performance abd form of the Turkish champions. Betting on Kisimpasa to get a draw or win in that game I think will be too risky even when it isn't impossible

I think we can both agree that the championship race is now between Fenerbahce and Galatasaray First of all, let me explain why I think the 5-0 Pendik game will create pressure. Fenerbahce and Galatasaray are both competing in Turkey and in Europe and we have seen that Fenerbahce's team depth has a better effect on the outcome of the game than Galatasaray's both in Europe and in the league. Last week Fenerbahce, who lost the leadership to Galatasaray for 1 day because of the day difference, scored 5 goals and showed clearly that they will not fall behind in the competition.

This week Fenerbahce will play against Trabzonspor at their home. Whether Trabzonspor is in the race or not, they have always played a challenging game against Fenerbahce and Galatasaray. However, Trabzonspor is a bit weak in terms of scoring goal this year and I think Fenerbahçe will not lose at home. Galatasaray players will play expecting Fenerbahçe to lose points against Trabzon. At this point, I think there will be simple passing mistakes and mistakes like missing a man at the backside, because I can say that I have seen a little bit of low condition in the last games.

I will place my bets on the possibility that they can make good use of these mistakes. But as you said, these will be risky bets

Abdülkerim is a very good stopper. But we have three good stoppers in our squad. We can make money by selling one of them. Because one of them will always be a substitute. Last season we formed a very good defensive line with Nelsson and Abdülkerim. This season we transferred Davinson Sanchez. After we transferred Davinson Sanchez, Nelsson was substituted. It won't be bad for us if we sell Abdülkerim. Because we have Nelsson. But we can also sell Nelsson. We have such small problems because our squad quality is better than last season. Depends on the money I suppose? Teams in Turkey do not really make all that much money from rewards at the league or cup or anything, Galatasaray made some money thanks to UCL this season but usually teams do not make all that much money. If Abdulkerim could be sold for a good amount of money then it would be smart to sell him.

Look at the situation with Nellson, first a season with europa success and losing to Barcelona, and then becoming champions, and up until Sanchez came along, they were basically using Nellson all that period and that made him worth something, he is young too, so they thought they  could sell him for at least 15-20 million to some big club, but they failed and not he is a bench player, barely worth 5-10 range. So they should sell Abdulkerim before it's too late as well.

The first half ended with Galatasaray leading 1-0. It was a 45 minutes in which both teams lacked a final touch. Galatasaray took the lead with Zaha's goal from outside the penalty area, but other than that, both sides had some good goal chances but couldn't able to score. If the match continues like that, Kasımpaşa catches draw at best, but other than that, unfortunately, the possibility of a win is almost non-existent.

I also think that Galatasaray should hold onto their skilled Turkish players. They already need 3 domestic players as you have mentioned. In addition to that they had better keep some alternatives to them in the squad as well in case there is an injury or suspension situation. They had better keep the best ones in the team firstly and the rest of them can be sold of course. Galatasaray spent lots of money in the last transfer window. Selling some players can be beneficial.

However instead of doing it with domestic players who aren't worth much they can do it with useless foreign players whose worth is much more.

Galatasaray became the leader again by beating their rival Kasımpaşa with a 2-1 score. I bet a total of 100 TL (around 3.5-4 dollars) on a draw or a win for Kasımpaşa. I lost, but it was a good game. Galatasaray struggled with their finishing, scoring one goal from outside the penalty area and the other on a quick counter-attack from a position that could have been a penalty. Kasımpaşa also had a lot of good chances but they didn't have the final touches and this defeat was inevitable for them.

Muslera left the game with an injury and I hope he is not seriously injured.

I have never thought about soccer and salaries in Turkey from this angle, but you are very correct! I checked the inflation rates and they keep exploding and if someone signed a contract with (converted) 5 million euros annually, those 5 million euros are now worth less than 2.5 million euros. That is insane and this must be one consideration that players have to factor in when they sign contracts in countries with economically unstable conditions.

@MK-74 are you sure that the contracts are hard-based on TL? Or do you think that especially for European players, the player's management would negotiate a contract that states the salary in euros? Because otherwise what you described would have severe financial consequences.

It is good to see them losing some points after a long while, yes. Today's score was very interesting. Referee had a very interesting game as well. This is really not an easy game to be a referee. The tense atmosphere in front of the match, the statements and organisations made by the rich and unsuccessful to satisfy their greed, the fans who do all kinds of outrageous things both on social media and in daily life and are capable of doing more, the footballers who jump on the pitch with the support of the fans and try all kinds of moves to deceive the referees. In such an environment, you expect referees to be stable, robotic and 100% accurate. Impossible. And after that, they take the bribes. Then we see these kind of crazy situations.

Same is true for Turkey but I can say that in many nations the earnings of the club is mostly in fiat of their nation, and spending is in euro for salaries. So when you get a player, you pay a transfer fee in euro, and when you pay the player the salary is in euro too, because that's what they made so far in their life. However, when you sell a ticket in turkey, you can't sell ticket in euro, not a lot at least, you have to sell it in local currency, which is Turkish Lira.

So the earning is not the same, even the champion of the league there makes only a few million dollars, one UCL group stages is equal financially of the rewards to be 10 years champions in the league. Obviously that would still mean UCL if you are Champions but not the same. So long story short most players get Euro, and most players needs to be sold to cover the costs, buying a player for cheaper, playing him, propping him up good, and then selling for higher is bigger profit making for these teams than the league rewards.

Hatayspor and Fenerbahçe cost me around 30-31 dollars, but at least I enjoyed watching them. Fenerbahçe was unbeaten in 19 games and Trabzonspor put an end to that. It seems that 20 is a really cursed number for Fenerbahce because they have 19 championship and they have been waiting for the 20th for years.

With 1 point more Galatasaray took the lead and let's see how long they can hold on to it.
