More severe punishment? The Turkish Football Federation can only impose sanctions for incidents that fall under its jurisdiction.


Turkish Football Federation sentenced Faruk Koca to permanent disqualification. Furthermore, the Turkish Football Federation sentenced Ankaragücü to 5 matches without spectators and a monetary penalty of 2 million 200 thousand Turkish Liras. The Turkish Football Federation did what it had to do.

I think it was a correct and measured punishment. I congratulate the Turkish Football Federation.


However, all is not over. Faruk Koca will also be tried for intentional injury, threats and entering forbidden areas...

I must commend the Turkish Football Federation for serving justice to the defaulters, cause they brought same and embarrassment to the country and deserves to be punished, alot of fans has complained about the situation, saying the Federation is full of corruption and nothing would be done to the defaulters cause of the positions they hold in their team, however the TFF have cleared alot of doubts and proved that theirs still fairness in the game.

 This would serve as a warning to others that has plans to commit such act and fell they'll go Scott free, atleast they'll learn to be calm and control their temper, so as not to put their team in a situation, to be honest the TFF did the right thing by serving the defaulters the right punishment,finally Justice have been served to them.

I bet all the other teams and their presidents who have seen the ~70k $ fine thought that they can do the same too. Before they resign from the club anyway, they can just punch the referees or other people and just pay the 70k$ fine. Look at the nba, their punishments are usually much harsher and they even make huge changes like the dress code. Then all the players and the teams behave well, and they have to. With this decision, it is proven that it just cheap to do illegal things. This situation also affected the league in a bad way with the fixture change. We might see unusual scores.

Football in the Turkish League have now become a corrupt sports, games are no longer played fairly and the outcomes however are just more or less inputed. The football bodies need to take a deep look at this league and send out necessary sanctions to all that requires it. First from the match officials that have now turned every game to a business just to go in the favor of the highest bidder. It's certain that if a game doesn't go fairly as it ought to, it'd cause fury in the fans and will in turn lead to break outs on the pitch. At thesame time, the fans ought to learn to control themselves and not cause disruption always in every game.

 At this point in time, there's just disorderliness in the league and if something isn't done about it, then definitely there'd be a lot of errors that may likely not get fixed just easily. The correction should start from the top tho and the football bodies should put more focus and strength on every happenings in the league, strict policies should as well be implemented as it'll make for proactive measures to curbing the excesses from both the teams, the referees and the fans too. Orderliness should be restored so the league won't loose its integrity and worth.

If it is prolonged or in the long term something similar continues to happen where the League is used as place to make money or the financial interests of each ruling individual then there will be no development whatsoever and in certain period of time in the future football there will be destroyed.
Wouldn't it be shame if the Domestic League had to be destroyed because of the actions of several rulers who only carried out capitalism above the interests of the sport of football and of course something like this would be great shame, even worse, it could destroy trust and trigger disappointment from Turkish football fans.

In fact, Turkey has pretty great football team, they have even managed to compete with big European teams and their development can be seen more clearly in European competitions than in the Domestic League.
Just look at Fenerbahce, Besiktas and Galatasaray, they look so enthusiastic every season for European competitions, especially for the UCL.
They are the biggest team that Turkey has but now they don't seem to be very enthusiastic about the Domestic League.

In addition, the Turkish national team has also experienced significant decline in the past 3 decades and they were among the semifinalists in the 2002 World Cup and qualified for the top 8 of the 2008 European Cup.
But this is only past history at time when Turkish football was really developing well.

If there was a backbone in the federation, all managers and directors would resign after this fiasco. Anakragücü was officially rewarded, not punished. We didn't expect relegation anyway, everyone in the country knows that that team is being watched for political reasons. At least they should have been given a penalty to play without spectators until the end of the season, but they couldn't even do that. The punishment given to the club president was not a punishment, they gave the message that you can beat anyone you want with a little money. Unless penalties are deterrent, these incidents cannot be prevented. I'm writing here that one day a referee will be killed and those who cannot give the necessary deterrent penalties today will be responsible for this. Unfortunately, the league is heading to a much worse place.

It doesn't feel that "corrupt", I mean financially if there is a financial fair play that is getting broken then the Uefa has to do something about it but from what I can see they have not found any financial fair play issues. When you accept that financially they are all fair and not breaking anything, then you need to look at the team values.

Fenerbahce and Galatasaray are much higher valued teams than any other team in that league and they are both at the very top, ahead of everyone else, Besiktas is third and they are near the third in the results as well. It is not really a shocker to see the standings when you compare the values of the teams players as well. So in the end, what is so corrupt? Good teams are doing good, why is it so shocking?

This behavior from a former club President is very unexpected and unprofessional. Punching a referee for doing their job is never justified. Meler has suffered from a fracture beneath his left eye. Koca is also politically involved so he should make his decisions better. Banning him from football permanently doesn't do justice to the referee. He has been fined around 70 thousand USD as well.

Football is sports and has been one  of the major form on entertainment, whereby we watch two teams try to dominate eachother on the pitch with their style of play and in return get paid for entertaining us, if footballers weren't getting paid well enough I don't think alot of players would want to continue playing football or even be interested in the work, cause it's a form of occupation in as much as one could develop passion for it, there's no doubt that alot of footballers are working to do better cause of the money.

 Well that has been a normal routine for Dortmund for long now, yes they would had been a better team if they weren't selling most of their key players to make profit, but it doesn't them a mediocre team cause they're still strong and tend to qualify for the UCL on a regular and despite the fact that they sold their key players they still got a good scouting network that help them recruit younger prospects to replace them.

Regarding this issue of punishment, in my opinion it is not fair for an entire football team to be punished because of violent acts by one or a few people, let's imagine the following scenario: a football team X has 30 players, has members, has fans who they make donations, they have managers and they have a coach and their entire squad. These all receive salaries, they need the team to have fans in the stadium at each game, they need sponsors to continue sponsoring the team and fans to continue making donations to the team. It happens that on a certain day the president of team X attacks a referee in the middle of the game. Physical aggression is a crime and is punishable under the law in every country in the world and that's how it works

The football federation should severely punish the guy who attacked the referee and not punish the entire team and the entire league. Where is the team to blame in all this? Was it the whole team: coach, doctor, players who ordered the team president to attack the referee? They weren't, the guy who attacked the referee did that of his own free will, he acted on his own, but they are condemning the entire team. see that when they prohibit fans from going to watch the game at the stadium, they are blaming the fans for the bad behavior of the guy who attacked the referee, I don't think it's fair that many people pay for a crime committed by one or a few people, it's very wrong that. The guy who attacked the referee is over 18 years old, and a very adult man, so he must be charged and will answer in court. So why are they punishing the fans?

After the incident in the MKE Ankaragücü-Çaykur Rizespor match, the leagues were postponed indefinitely until further notice. But the Federation announced that the leagues will start on December 19. The matches of the 16th week were postponed to January. I think it is good that the leagues will start as soon as possible. Fenerbahçe had a bad performance in the last weeks. The break in the league could have been an opportunity for them to rest. From this point of view, I find it positive that the leagues started as soon as possible.

Most people don't buy Beinsport to watch the games anymore, I think they are right because nobody enjoys the games anymore.

Those 3 teams you mentioned are the top 3 in the Turkish league and they're seriously in a tough competition for the title race this season, and since their next matches aren't very tough ones, they’ll all want to secure the three points and main, ain consistency to get ahead of eachother, but they’ll need to be careful cause sometimes the teams we feel are inferior can be very stubborn and make a big team drop points, well Besiktas and Galatasaray are  a very strong team and i expect them to maintain their consistency.

 You're right, unlike other top Turkish teams, Fenerbahce would be in a tight corner cause they'll be facing another tough Turkish team that's kept a good record in their past 5 matches, well if they work very hard there's a possibility of them breaking Kayserispor's winning streaks, however i feel this is going to be a draw match since both teams are in a good form currently.

Actually selling off key players from a club is actually one of the factors that brings downfall to most of the clubs, although we no that there is need for club to be wealthy but selling off there key players is not the right thing to do because after selling those players the club will be left with smaller players that are still struggling to actualize there skills, just like Borussia Dortmund if they had known the potential of Haaland they would have not have sold him the way they did because I believe by now they most have been regretting why they sold him because his performance would have been of a great beneficial to Borussia Dortmund but now Manchester City is enjoying the performance Haaland has been giving them and if perhaps Manchester City is ready to sell him they will surely sell him two times higher than what they bought him with because Haaland is a big assets to whichever club he join.

Also I believe that Barcelona is also suffering the same thing because they sold some of there key players and now the ones that are left are not giving the club what they want and however they are still facing some financial challenges so coming back for them next season with a good performance is not certain because there is no money for them to buy some good players.
