The point they are in now is very specialy for Aston Villa and the fans must be very excited about the potential of their team as well. Since Ange Postecoglou took charge at Tottenham, they are having positive change massively. Their Tactical play and team's spirit are not like Tottenham before. This is the biggest factor of their resurrection this season. But this is indeed not enough for them to win the league. Their biggest issue is the quality of squad depth which has been proven poor previously that they collected just 1 win in 5 games after losing their key players due to suspensions and injuries.

Ange change the performance Tottenham to the extent they wanted to make Kane to think he made a bad choice of going to Bayern Munich but their main magic lies in their defensibe midfield. The second their defenders like Van de Ven and Madders their defensive midfielder got an injury, everything turn translucent to Tottenham, that was when they made their first lost against Chelsea and subsequently fall down from the top 4 and now are struggling to go back but if they keep the current performance, they will get their in time but the way others are fighting will only make the chance more difficult to climb.

I think Aston Villa is quite similar to Tottenham, but they just haven't had badluck of losing key players. It's true that a team's performance over the entire season is a more accurate reflection of their capabilities than a short-term streak. A team like Liverpool who are able to maintain positive results while not playing at their best is a kind of toughest team to compete with. Aston villa have become concrete so hard to break, they didn't allow Manchester City to pass through to meet up with Arsenal and when Arsenal had match with to remain top with them on the table, they didn't let them have it too which have Liverpool and opportunity to become the king king of the Premier league for now and that has also earned them some points to stay close to Arsenal and Liverpool, if they win their next game and others didn't, they will top the table before Manchester City.

I remember this kind of a season from somewhere.    There was a season in the past in which Manchester City were even much worse than this situation in the Premier League. However they still captured the league title at the end by coming from really far behind.    Would this be another season in which they do the same?

Well you're right, about last season, Arsenal where dominating the league from the beginning of the season to midpoint and even became everyone's favorite to win the league at some point, but they bottle the league and gave Manchester City and opportunity to lift the trophy again, therefore i won't be suprised if same thing reoccur this season, cause if you look at the standings you'll see that City are not left out in the title race,  there's still hope for them to win it, since the gap between them and the current  league leaders is not very wide.

 City might find it very tough defending the Champions League title but winning the EPL is not going to be very tough for them and i concour with your statement that they got the best players and manager currently, making them very strong potential winners of the EPL and sonner or later, maybe after the January window, we'll see them dominating the EPL table.

I fully agree that if both teams have their first and best eleven players available for the whole season, I think a lot could be possible for them. But especially in the second half of the season, the depth and quality of the squad becomes relevant. It's very hard to maintain a high performance for a whole season when the squad isn't as deep as that of Manchester City for example. I must have seen it wrong then apologies. But even though it was in 1981 still there has been a quite long time since then. Aston Villa isn't a team that is as rich as top teams in the Premier League and Newcastle. Because of that they haven't been able to build a squad which is as strong as top teams in the league to get in the title race in the league. It is always much more difficult for such teams to fight with rich teams at the same level. But sometimes their time comes to shine just like Leicester had that time.

Doing so impressively currently with the limited budget he was given, means that if he was fully backed financially by the board, they could do better than they're doing currently and even be one of the top contenders for the league, I believe the boards would be really impressed with how far Unai Emery have got the club and therefore they should try as much as possible to invest for funds for the Jan transfer window so Emery would strengthen the club to continue doing better.

Chelsea could sign Jesus Christ in January and they still wouldn’t finish anywhere near the top 4. I don’t think I’ve seen a football club spend so recklessly, mismanaging funds in my lifetime.

They’ve spent close to £1,500,000,000 in 18 months and they’re just as bad, if not worse than before. They are 14 points behind Man City in 4th and we are not even half way through the season. Man Utd have a better chance but I still think they won’t finish in the top 4.

We have seen Tottenham fall from first place to 5th place and they need time to recover and if this happens to Aston Villa of course they could suffer the same fate as Tottenham. Next game for Tottenham is against Everton who are fighting for premier league survival and fighting their way back to the top of the table where they were once close to this season. Bissouma will suffer a four match Ban and their coach will need to be able to go on without him because Tottenham have struggled in the games before this and their last. Tottenham are now fifth and still very close to the top of the table. Richarlison have scored goals in his last two games for Tottenham, maybe that is a signal that the striker is finally ready to deliver what is expected of him.

Aston villa has really showed and put in more effort this season than last season, there winnings this season has proven that and also considering the fact that they won, man city, arsenal, Tottenham show's the fact that Aston villa's head coach has up his game. But for me i don't think they will find it easy to surpass liverpool, arsenal and mancity to win the league. Man city won't give in to that but lets keep our fingers crossed and see what happens.

You forgot to mention chelsea as well as villa was destroying chealse during the early match of EPL. Emery is slowly but surely building his club so well. Im not expecting aston villa to played so well this season. It's amazing to see this club is sitting at the third place of EPL.
I would rather than call liverpool and manchester city are the strongest candidate to win EPL this season. Believe me or not if arsenal will be bottling it again this season. Im not expect a lot from arsenal.
Arsenal is always declining once it enters into the late game, unlike the club like manchester city or liverpool which are very stable and they are to know what they are doing. Arsenal is always botting the chance to win EPL in so many seasons.
I personallly think that arsenal has no chance to win EPL. It is possible that Aston Villa will exceed the performance of all the big clubs by the end of the season. Aston villa is just getting better and better.

Im waiting for another surprise to come from aston villa. I know this club is very strong with the came of emery to the club, Emery is just a great coach but that's sad how big club in EPL was not even eyeing him.
